I only lived here for 2 months and that’s all I could stand. First the whole place is really dirty, the elevator is always sticky. Apparently it’s no ones job to clean the common areas like hallways and staircases. They also have a horrible lock system that on more than one occasion locked every tenant out of their apartments. Also my AC went out while it was 90+ degrees outside and they wouldn’t fix it during the weekend. And the utility bill… I was charged $280 for one bill while my roommate was charged $400 for the same bill. It’s completely random and is not calculated based on usage. I honestly don’t know how it’s legal. Just don’t live here. You will regret it.
DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU WANT TO SAVE MONEY. I thought that it would be a good place to stay since the rent was cheaper and my expectations were not too high honestly. but when i moved out and got my utility bill it was ~$400 for each of my roommates for 3 months. After explaining that there was no way we used that much because we never leave the water on, never left lights on, and weren’t even at the apartment most of the time, they told us the bill is final and there is nothing they can do. ~$400 each would mean we used around $400 worth of utilities PER MONTH. Absolutely ridiculous.
This place is par for the course exploitative and cheaply managed west campus housing. They dont respect the time and safety of their student/maintenance workers and are perpetually understaffed. Though the units are modern, livable, and spacious, if anything goes wrong or something breaks, management prefers cheap and quick solutions to real change. If your AC breaks, expect to hassle back and forth for a month or so.The rent is relatively cheap but the utilities are extremely expensive. Since living here my water bill tripled without explanation. I went from paying 60-75 a month for utilities to $120-135 (I live with 5 other girls and we each have to pay this amount). Water in the units is NOT sub-metered, so you pay for other residents wastefulness, others leaks, and any pressure washing the building decides to do. It looks like a good deal on paper, but just like everywhere else in the area, they get you with secret costs.
Unethical and unprofessional. They over charge you with undisclosed charges AFTER you’ve already moved out. Dishonest business. You could find some place better in Austin that actually offers you decent amenities too.
I was concerned because the security cameras were not working on my floor and they sent me an emailWith a screenshot of the contracts saying that texan can discontinue security at any time. This building is not secure or safe.
Especially with the air conditioning not working during 100+ degree weather, we frequently must leave our apartment to study on campus and use little electricity, plumbing, and other utilities, yet, we still get billed 3x the prices of utilities our friends at other apartments with functioning utilities pay. My $900/mo room is now almost $1100 with no functioning AC. Ive had a problem with almost every aspect of the apartment: AC stopped working, dryer vent not working, toilet in bathroom running constantly, low water pressure on all faucets and showers, dishwasher never worked, door handles falling off, water leaking into the living room when it rains, etc. There is even duct tape covering holes/gaps in the trim that was there when I moved in. Its certainly not the worst place and, from what I heard, probably ABOVE average in west campus. Still, having things malfunction is not ideal if you just want to be able to eat, sleep, and study. HOWEVER, I edited this review in response to actions taken by the apartment. They manage maintenance requests very well and responded soon though we still spent about a week without AC. Youll have to submit work orders often but they do a good job responding to it and so Ill give them back a few stars.Overall, management does a great job of responding to issues but there are just far too many issues to worry about. Regardless if management fixes them fast or not, they consume your valuable time as a student which is the whole point of you living here.
Edit: I’ve had to call someone at 2am when no one else is home many times now because apparently the fob system is janky and has to be “updated” every week, causing me or their young student employees to walk outside during late hours all alone. Corporate is taking advantage of their student workers who are clearly trying their best with what little resources they are given. The pros: It’s a student apartment so vomit in the elevator, ugly stairwells, and the occasional roach are to be expected anywhere in west campus imo. Garage parking is $100 per month which is actually less than a lot of others around, but total utilities for my 6x4 unit are about $80-135 a month (water usage is reflective of the entire buildings use, so even if you & your roommates arent wasteful, you can have a high bill). Rent in my unit is between $749-797, depending on if you want to share a bathroom with someone. Kitchen and living room is huge.Edit: We still have to pay for trash service even when no one ever comes.
Extremely unethical and unfair management. Gave us a wrongful charge and is only now following up about it almost an entire year later hoping we don’t remember the details and will just blindly pay it. It’s impossible to get in contact with anyone who can help you solve your issues. DO NOT live here, trust me you will REGRET IT. They treat their residents HORRIBLY. Just pick literally anywhere else, try north campus.
Dont be fooled by the pricing. It seems cheap at first until the ridiculous utility charges. Parking adds a lot as well. This review is mainly for the fact that they will unnecessarily charge you during the move out process, hoping that you wont dispute the charge. Mario and maintenance are great, but corporate honestly doesnt care about you or the other residents. Happy I moved.
Agree with the other reviewer that many of the positive reviews appear fabricated. The apartment was in a state of deterioration not helped by incompetent maintenance. Roach issue. Each experience with management in an attempt to rectify issues was a waste of time. Don’t live here.
Kelly the Maintenance supervisor has been amazing, she has made sure that as a resident that our needs are met.Kelly has outstanding customer service and it has made living at Texan 26 much more pleasant. I would recommend this place to anyone.
Super friendly staff and management. Professional and fast responding maintenance. High quality appliances that are all new, and roommate matching. The location is also super convenient and the rates are the best in WC for the value!
Its not bad, for the price, the apartment is well equipped. A few flaws but no apartment will be perfect in West Campus! This is my first year at this complex and my roommates and I are renewing our lease
I call it home, Im happy here. The facility is quiet and staff is helpful and friendly.
So far, so good! Summer communication clear about move-in process, insurance, etc. Move-in day went super smoothly with lots of staff on-site to help and answer questions. My daughters apartment was bright and clean. Appliances seemed new and everything freshly painted. Location off the main drag but still in densely populated area. Easy bike ride to campus. Nearby construction and frat houses may be loud but I guess that is part of the West Campus experience?!
I appreciate the pricing and amenities. When I was helped out at the property I was greeted with a warm smile and helping attitude. Would definitely recommend!
Really friendly workers and management! Super helpful with filling out my application and all my questions were answered on the spot!
Texan 26 is improving a lot! They have made obvious efforts to clean up the building, and I believe plans to renovate the courtyard are coming soon. The only thing this building lacks are amenities. We pay enough compared to other nearby buildings to have a few amenities!
These positive reviews seem to be fabricated. Back when I checked in 2018 this apartment complex had near a 1 star rating. Living here, I agree that the staff is friendly and answer questions, however, everything they say is just words they usually dont get anything done and I have yet to see a day where something isnt broken or poop or throw up is on the stairs or the halls. They entice you with cheap prices, but if you think about the price youre paying for (utilities are excluded) the value you get for the price is absolutely abysmal because they dont offer ANY amenities. Where other places offer things like pools or study halls, Texan 26 throws these apartment essentials out the window, just like the food and the excessive screaming from the residents. I often see a soup of spoiled foods because I assume that the Texan 26 staff never throws the trash from the trash room. Ultimately what I am saying is that Texan 26 offers an overpriced deal for such a bare bones package of a living hell. I could go on and on, but I hope what I say speaks for itself whenever people move in here anyway, ignoring our pleas to escape.
Friendly management but noisy neighbors. Not enough maintenance people resulting in slow communication and fixes.
Making changes for the better. Can’t wait for the courtyard to be done!!!!
It has been a good experience. The apartment itself had a few things wrong with it, but overall it has been nice.
Imagine towers but less fun and farther. Nice privacy at least.
Maintence sucks. Other than that I can’t complain.
Really pretty establishment
Management sucks, hallways and stairs are disgusting.
The elevator is always sticky.
Nice place
Absolutely horrible
