Loved it here! No place is perfect but in the world of apartments this was pretty dang good. Only left because I moved states.
Dear Reader, Ive been living in Echo for over 3 years and its definitely the best living experience Ive had in Austin. I could list numerous examples, but the most thoughtful one I think is worth sharing was how the staff gave my dog Frida a get your wag back soon gift bag when she was bitten by a dog when we were walking around the neighborhood. The dog was not from Echo and it did not happen in the Echo property, but they still went the extra mile showing they genuinely care about our pups. Frida recovered completely and are very grateful for the attentive care!
Place only has two elevators. Developers really went the frugal route with this layout. To make matters worse - the complex allows tenants to reserve one of the elevators for hours at a time for personal use. This keeps everyone else from using it. Then people have to walk to the whole other side of the building to the other elevator or to the stairs. The reserved elevators should only be allowed at move in and move out for tenants. I have personally watched many tenants become frustrated and disgruntled with this situation. Another elevator or two should also be constructed. If not, rent should be lowered, because there are better quality places for the same price in Austin.
I lived in the Echo for several years. They are nice units with good views. The main reason I am writing a review is to let people know how this management company treats is residents. During the snow storm in Austin in Feb 2021, the building was damaged due to bursted pipes. My unit had some minor flooding. Over 50 units were given 1 week to move out due to a clause in the lease that gave the Echo this right due to natural disasters. I saw no empathy or compassion coming from the staff or management. This is the most stressful ordeal I have been through as a renter, and I found them to be quite cold and removed about this whole traumatic event. Having lived in Austin for many years, I found them to bring anti-Austin values to this great city I call home. After my move, I was asked to sign a release, waiving the company and its investors of all liability if I was to develop health problems from mold or chemicals in the building. Other than that, I found the elevator situation to be awful. There are only 2 elevators for over 200 units, and one of them is usually reserved for movers. I have waited countless times over 5 minutes for an elevator. I am quite disappointed how they have treated their residents, and I left with a toxic feeling after my move. I do not recommend living at the Echo.
I moved in to Echo a couple of weeks ago and I couldnt be any happier.the leasing office staff was extremely helpful throughout the process from before moving in to the time of move in. the staff is very responsive and professional. I also made a couple of maintenance and service calls and they were taken care of the next day with no issues.Amenities are very well maintained and cleaned regularly and receiving mail and packages is very well organized. The location is also close to a lot of restaurants and grocery stores within walking distance.Im very happy with the place and would recommend it 100%.
Since the winter storm/power outage (Feb 2021) the fire alarms have been going off all the time. Instead of proactively solving the issue, the management just sends emails explaining another reason why the alarms are going off (error, dust, construction, etc.). Most recent occurrence on April 4 & 5th, 2021, the fire alarms went off at 10:30pm, 3am, 3:30am, 3:45am, 5am.
Ive only been here a month...and its been the best month in a new place that I could ever ask for. Moving in from Chicago I was kind of snobby when it came to my expectations in a condo. James showed me my place, helped me with the 100 questions I had, and went above and beyond to make sure I was happy with moving into my unit here. The area is awesome. The maintenance crew is on point...and I actually dont miss chicago as much as I thought I would because I feel like this complex is clean, homey, has a fun vibe and it totally suits my needs. Will definitely be living here as long as my job is in Austin.
Very nice. Helpful staff, great amenities. Garage has plenty of room and secure. Hallways are quiet. Very nice wood floor interiors.
Excellent property! I’ve had an incredible experience moving in!
Now that Ive moved out after living at Echo a year and a half I felt I could give an in depth review for prospect/future residents:Pros:-If you love dogs this apartment is for you, there are so many adorable pups at this complex that youll see around Echo!-The staff is awesome (maintenance staff included) every time I or my roommates had a question or concern regarding the apartment, we would always hear back in a timely manner.-Every maintenance request we had would be responded to and fixed within 48 hours.-the complex is always clean and the hallways feel like Im walking through a hotel-the amenities are good, while I wish the pool and gym were a bit bigger, it did the trick and its usually not packed so it gets the job done!-the finishes inside the units are great. Its hard to find a complex that doesnt have laminate and I feel that they used actual wood floors (Im no expert on flooring but they def. arent cheap floors)-the walls and flooring are thick enough to where you cant usually hear your neighbors.-parcel pick up lockers & a Tide dry clean pick up/drop off are a big plus that you dont usually find at other apartments.-I always felt safe at Echo/ around the complex too, even at night. There is also an actual law enforcement who lives on site and helps in case anything happens.-covered garage parking is a huge plus! there is always plenty of parking too.-the location is great, walking distance to bus stops, restaurants and much more. Youre also super close to downtown, like 10-20 min drive depending on what side of downtown. its great!Cons:-If you have dogs, the dog park isnt that big, but it does the trick for the smaller dogs. Plus theres a bigger green area just next to the dog park that a lot of residents with the bigger dogs use to play fetch with their dogs instead of the actual dog park.-the price, in comparison to other apartments in the area is at least a few hundred dollars more expensive...but then again you are paying for the luxury apartment living so it may be worth it for those of you that care about that-The stairwells leading to the dog park usually smell because the pups cant hold it in sometimes. (however, I will say maintenance staff usually does a great job at spraying/ cleaning them to remove the smell)-the elevators are pretty slow and there is only 2 in the complex so at busy times (like 8am or 5:30pm) it may take you a while to get to your floor. I took this as an opportunity to get some steps in and just take the stairs instead.- we lived in two different units and both units had a leak through the window sills when the rain would get really bad. one of the leaks was so bad that we had to get part of our carpet replaced, but I think the complex is slowly fixing those leaks so shouldnt be an issue in the future.overall, we loved living at Echo and if it wasnt for how expensive it is, we totally wouldve signed again!
I have lived at Echo for 2 years, and have been VERY happy to call it home. The apartments are beautiful and quiet, and the building is very well kept and clean. The Village Green office staff are so helpful and responsive-they even went out of their way to help me when I was locked out of my apartment! They have definitely made Echo a more welcoming community and I look forward to living here for the foreseeable future!
I just moved in in February and I am so happy with my apartment! The staff is friendly and accessible, the apartment interiors are beautiful and amenities are competitive. Its pricey but worth it for the location and state-of-the-art features. Very safe and very quiet for a large apartment complex! Ive never heard footsteps from the apartment above me or music/noises from apartments around me.
Beautiful luxury apartments in a prime location with a very courteous staff. Doesnt get much better than this. The people that live here are all so kind and friendly its a very happy place to live! Also, must love dogs!
The Echo Apartments are luxurious and they have a nice swimming pool. Management is friendly and courteous.
The entire building has ONLY 2 elevators! It takes like 4-5 minutes to go up or down to include a stop in every floor to pick up people. Imagine that everyday. It seems that all the people that gave 5 star seems they love the 5-8 minute wait, a stop at everyfloor, and the ellevator full of people and dogs smelling your shoes. Plus, its very expensive.
I just renewed my lease for the 2nd year. The apartment has wonderful amenities including a gorgeous pool/courtyard, up-to-date fitness center, and numerous floorplans to fit various needs and budgets. Although the price is not cheap, it is great bang for your buck for central Austin in my opinion based on how nice the facility is, especially if you can get one of the move-in specials. The staff has been nothing but attentive and helpful to me, and they seem to really care about the satisfaction of their renters.
My husband and I have lived at the Echo for nearly 10 months, and we have very much enjoyed our time here. Prior to moving into the Echo, we lived in 3 apartments complexes and owned 2 homes, and we both agree this has been our favorite living arrangement.Pros: Great location, ample parking, attractive and well maintained amenities (pool, gym, lounge areas, business center), free coffee and hot chocolate, well insulated walls (much quieter than traditional apartments, but your still going to hear your neighbors dog bark), high quality finishes (real wood floors, stainless appliances including convection oven, flat walls, high ceilings), dryer/washer connections (but then we prefer to buy our own washer and dryer), responsive and friendly staff, fun community events.Cons: Lots of dogs (some of you will love that) and the building can sometimes smell like a PetSmart, stairwells can be a little gross, no hot water when we first moved in, which was clearly the result of an electrical issue (there was a bundle of burnt wiring in the the laundry room), and Im still concerned there are some electrical issues (lights flicker and burn out a little too often), utility bill is a little higher than I would expect for such a well insulated, 850 sq-ft unit, energy efficiency doesnt seem to be a priority (lots of incandescent bulbs, but I do prefer the lighting compared to fluorescent...perhaps they could switch over to LED bulbs), nice pool loungers but no cushioning (I mention the cushions because the advertisement outside the office shows the loungers with cushions, and that would make them a lot more comfortable), pool is generally quite, but can be taken over by drunk and/or obnoxious groups each playing their own music, we did have rain leak into our unit and damage some baseboards and carpeting (when they replaced the baseboards, I could see the drywall which appeared to have mold growing on it...I can only trust/hope that they treated the area properly), a lot of paint splatter on the wood floors, which is a shame because they are beautiful floors, metal studs in the wall, which makes it a little more challenging to hang heavy items (e.g. TVs), for our particular unit, road noise is ever-present, but you get use to it, and even with blinds closed and blackout curtains, youre not going to get the room completely dark, and finally I would expect a luxury apartment complex such as this to have a few units to reserve for visiting friends and family.I realize there appear to be more cons than pros, but the pros are significant and most of the cons are just minor annoyances that you come to expect living in an apartment building with other humans. The main reason Im not giving it 5 out of 5 stars is because of the pet smell and condition of the stairwells, though both issues have moderately improved over the past couple of months.
I’ve really enjoy living here and the staff is phenomenal. The only cons are the elevators are extremely slow and its a bit pricey.
