I love living here! It is SUCH a nice property -- from the units, to the common places, to the front desk staff. I have never lived in a community where the neighbors are so friendly and the staff genuinely cares about the residents. 10/10 recommend!
Currently on my second year living at Barton Creek Landing, great experience so far. Office and maintenance staff are friendly and very responsive. Great location. If you will need parking for more than 1 car, then be sure to be aware of the parking situation before signing (I only have one car so I dont have any issues).
The employees are so kind and helpful! Clean community with excellent maintenance. I love taking my dog on walks in the trail and using the dog park! Thank you to the staff for always being responsive and genuine! They even printed a document for school for me. Above and beyond!
My experience living here has been amazing so far!! The staff is friendly, maintenance requests are addressed in a timely manner, and the location is great as its close to the mall and the greenbelt. The office does little activities and brunches sometimes - Im usually too busy to attend but I think its really nice!!
Maintenance is great. Staff is ok. Billing and pricing department is pathetic. Random costs levied at checkout. One parking spot for a 2B-2B was never going to work for anyone. Wayy too overpriced for what they offer.
Strategic location, near places of interest, good school district, friendly stuff.
I have lived at Barton Creek Landing for 8 years. I have lived all over the country in different apartments, and I feel lucky to have Chelsea, Jeff, and the whole Barton Creek Landing management team mostly who are still there since I have moved in (that should tell you something) . The location is amazing, if you have to work anywhere in central Austin. Management team is responsive, friendly, and most importantly all way willing to do what’s right! So happy after going through all of this craziness in Austin in 2020/2021 to have, friendly faces, hot pizza and 5 gallon water containers waiting gratis on BCL after days of no power, had a water pipe burst and maintenance on the scene in minutes...You have many choices for apartments in Austin, there are a ton of nice places but in the end it comes down to the people who run it...Chelsea, Jeff, and the team hats off...best apartments in Austin :)
Awesome staff and great location! Best of both worlds, 5 - 10 minutes to downtown while having the green belt in your own backyard.
24 hours that the entire complex has been without running water. I’m sure they’ll raise the rent regardless
I have had a great experience here after leasing for about a year. I really appreciated there was no hassle or nickel-and-dime-ing with getting the full deposit back. After returning to Austin I decided to come back for another lease and I am super pleased with the process and help from the office team. The vibe is good, and I have not heard much at all as far as neighbor noise through walls/floors. The property is well maintained, IMO, and I appreciate the nice trees/views from the windows. Parking could possibly be annoying for 2+ cars, but Ive found the info to be very transparent and I am happy there is no required media package. I love the quick access to greenbelt trails.
We lived in Barton Creek Landing for almost 4 years and just recently moved out because we bought a house. We chose BCL because of the Eanes school district which is rated one of the best in the country. We really felt the community like home, so much that our kids were saying how they miss it, and they were reminiscing of the good old times there. We made a lot of close friends during this time. We had different neighbors and they were all genuinely nice. For a busy complex as this one, it was well maintained. Chelsea and the team were always there to help and were exceedingly kind. We were mostly impressed by the maintenance team. They were one of the most hardworking guys we have met. All our maintenance issues have been addressed in an exceedingly timely manner, sometimes within hours of the service request. We thank the Barton Creek Landing team for taking such a good care of the complex and us!The Stoykovs Family
Barton Creek Landing was a great place to live while shopping for a home in Austin. The staff was always responsive and kind and the facilities were always maintained and in good shape. The complex was quiet and relaxing and family friendly.
I moved in during the pandemic, so understandably my experience was a bit more through all email and phone calls. I love the complex, the location and the staff. The maintenance team is extremely quick and respectful before entering the apartment with safety protocol. I requested Assistance twice (For small things) and they were there within an hour to deliver what was needed. Chelsea and Sidney are super quick to respond to my million emails of questions when moving in as well. The staff are extremely careful with the safety and cleanliness of community amenities as well. If I could move all of my friends here, I would. It feels like you’re living in a private wooded oasis✨ Plus there are two entrances to the Greenbelt from this complex🙌
“The move out was extremely easy. The management made it a smooth process and gave clear instructions on what to do. Thank you for everything you have done and for making this a great place to live.”
Ideal location. BCL is 5 minutes from everything by car. 10-15 minutes by bicycle. 2 minutes from some of the best hiking trails in ATX.
When I moved to Austin, Barton Creek Landing was my first apartment complex I lived in. I loved my time here! The apartments are new and modern. All new appliances and they work great. The complex is in a great location and a safe area. It is a gated community, so that gives you extra safety. The majority of people that live here are in their 30s or families. That is the only thing that I disliked, because I am 23, I was looking for more friends in my age group. The amenities are great. Nice sized pool and work out facilities. They even have a DIY room to do arts and crafts! The staff was so welcoming, friendly, and helpful whenever you needed them. Maintenance was amazing. They fixed things very quickly. Unfortunately something happened in my personal life that caused me to have to move after living here for 6 months. They were very understanding when I had to break my lease. I was so sad that I had to move out! I appreciate the entire staff here, especially Chelsea Estes and Sidney Garcia. I highly recommend living at Barton Creek Landing.
DO NOT LIVE HERE. This was by far the worst living experience. The staff was rude, not professional at all, and not reliable. They were constantly rude to me and my roommate. When we moved in our floors were uneven, and the place was not even clean. You can for sure find better in Austin! spread the word.
AVOID - Greedy and dishonorable management. Read the other reviews - this is a common theme from residents leaving the community. I am no stranger to apartment living and have lived in roughly 7 different complexes throughout my life in various metropolitan areas, and I have never been so nickel and dimed as I was by UDR during the two years I lived at this complex. The amenities and location are nice, but you can find the same at other complexes in the same vicinity with better management and less expensive cost. Here are just a few examples:- Forget ever getting your security deposit back, even for normal wear and tear. In addition to not getting any deposit back, they had the audacity to send an additional bill in excess of my deposit for basic cleaning and prepping the walls for the next tenant. This is something that any normal, respectful tenant would leave behind. Not only that, it contradicts the Texas Property Code which states that landlords cannot retain any portion of a security deposit for normal wear and tear.- All repairs are an extra charge. What is the point of renting if you are charged extra for everything that needs a repair?- Cheap units and construction. My sink completely fell off my counter during my final month living at the community.- Massive buyout fee if you need to end a lease early and they were uncooperative when discussing options. Even if they rent the unit out to a new tenant (since subleases arent allowed), you will be charged and given no billing flexibility.- My parking pass was not returned on the day of move-out as it wasnt on the emails/checklist. I was given a call to return the parking pass a week after move-out, and I offered to mail the pass since I no longer live in the community. I was told that was unacceptable and would be charged an additional $200 if the pass wasnt received that day. What if I had moved out of state?I have never been treated with such greed and disrespect both as a resident and human being by a landlord. They only care about your pocketbook.Austin community members - rent elsewhere, you deserve better!
It has been such a sweet place for me that has felt like home.
I recently moved out of Barton Creek Landing but I was there for about 2 years. Overall, there is a great community. Ive found some of my closest friends living there and the apartments are pretty nice for the location and price point. The pool is large and not really too busy. They have quality monthly brunches (sometimes) where you can meet your neighbors and enjoy quality interactions. The trails are nice to have around if you have any pets. Maintenance workers are wonderful and take care of you very quickly. With that said, there are things I wanted to inform people deciding on moving into this place. This may seem like a negative review but I think its important to be critical of any place you choose to call home. I think its still a fine place to live.- NOT Walkable. The location is pretty great if you have a vehicle but its about a mile walk on Mopac if you want to go to Taco Deli or Thoms market. From there you can take the Spyglass trail up to Zilker. Basically, its a bit of a hike...- Mopac Expressway is a 1 way road so in order to get back to your apartment, you have to take a loop. It gets annoying if you forget something or miss the turn for whatever reason.- My AC broke a few times on me. Sure, this seems like a minor inconvenience but in Texas summer, it is horrible.- Bugs everywhere. My second year, I had about 10 cockroaches in my apartment. Its odd because my first year, I only had 1. I blame a dirty neighbor. Advice is to learn how to kill them because they will find a way to get in. I also lived next to the leasing office and not right up against the greenbelt so Id imagine its worse down there.- UDR tends to Nickel and Dime you. For example, it costs you 20 dollars every time you submit a maintenance request. Secondly, you have to pay 5 dollars per month per person for ParcelPending to be able to accept packages.- Its been said before but there is no parking here. Its uncomfortable for guests because sometimes they have to park on the street where they have to walk quite a distance in the pitch dark to get to their car. Heck, sometimes Ive had to park there too. Its really a safety hazard without any lights. I have neighbors that bring big flashlights with them because the street and a lot of the walkways are so dark. You have one parking space reserved but if you have a roommate, they have to take that risk.- Lots of children playing on the streets. You have to be very vigilant when driving around.- All apartments not on the first floor have carpet throughout. I was sold on hardwood when I signed my lease until I walked into my apartment and noticed that fact.- My 2 bedroom floor plan had incredibly small amounts of storage. Be sure to check for that when choosing your layout.- Prepare for water shutdowns occasionally. Not sure if this is just an Austin thing but sometimes youll go half a day without access to water. Its a pain when you work from home full time.Best of luck apartment searchers!
With all the known horror stories of other complexes, an incredibly responsive and knowledgeable maintenance crew is a big reason to live here.
My husband and I have rented for a long time and never had this kind of trouble with an apartment complex. While the front desk people were wonderful as well as the maintenance staff; they will nickel and dime you for literally everything. You will pay for every lightbulb that goes out and if you clog a drain. They raise your rent with no additional amenities to support it. Don’t get a unit with carpet, as they’re replacing the units with laminate and will try to get you to cover the cost at move out. No one picks up after their dogs so there is dog poop throughout the community. The dog park is dirt so always a muddy mess. You have no choice but to pay for parking and only get one spot, and the reserved parking for residents is hard to come by if you have a 2nd vehicle meaning you sometimes can’t even park in your own apartment complex. Forget about having guests over because there is no space for them either. You can get a far better deal elsewhere. Also the fact that we were without air conditioning for a few weeks due to a failed unit in the summer
Great apartment complex! Beautiful pool, great amenities, perfect location. The staff, including maintenance, is both professional and friendly.
I lived at Barton Creek Landing for three years. I loved the location, the amenities, and the people. My first experience with the office, I was told one thing and then they changed the terms without me realizing. I pushed back and had to go above Chelsea and they gave me a few weeks at no cost. The first year, the maintenance staff was amazing ... did above and beyond. When I first moved in Rod took me through everything and was always so helpful. They even changed my light bulbs at no cost. I was very happy. The pool was kept up and the gym was something I used almost every day. I did start using the main office for a work space as many times I work remotely and was asked to leave. I was appalled that an amenity that was sold to me was just for people looking to lease.... they sent me Tiff Cookies after that experience to make up for it . I spoke to many other neighbors with a similar story who were also send tiffs treats. After the first year and Rod leaving the amenities went down hill. Last year there was goop on the side of the pool and they took down the coverings that were over the grill . They also started charging for lightbulbs being changed (many are not a typical bulb) and any other normal maintenance so always held my breath not knowing what the price would be. What’s the point of renting ?I asked for three years for better lighting and that wasn’t done by sidewalks. There are many dark turns to walk from leasing office on sidewalk to where I was . I had to use flashlight. I even twisted ankle as one night I didn’t see the paver due to no light and stepped wrong. The major reason why I wanted to leave is because for six months I had neighbors that moved in sharing a wall with me that banged so loud it sounded like they were bowling and played music so loud even if I went to other side of apartment I could hear from 11pm till 5am and many times their dog would bark non stop through the same hours. I called and complained, emailed and complained and even called after hours agent to help. Supposedly they warned them but nothing changed. Many good neighbors complained but they acted like I was the only one.., even the neighbors called cops on them. This is what pushed me to leave. The staff’s attitude toward this situation and lack of action. My health was majorly effected as I hardly slept for six months which I voiced to staff regularly. When I finally bought a house and left this past March I had two months and nine days left on lease. I gave my 60 day notice and asked if the nine days could be forgiven If they found someone- no. Then covid happened and my income went down 40% . I asked again if the 9 days could be (700$ and some dollars) forgiven especially since my income had been majorly affected and I was told no... I pushed back and was told they could use my deposit (how generous) toward it.Overall the location is great, many people that live there are wonderful when I was there, and the amenities if kept up are great but the leasing staff and my overall experience with UDR was not a good one . They care more about money than you.
We love our apartment. Staff is accommodating and always kind. Great place to live!
Ive lived here for about 5 months now. I dont have any huge complaints. Yes, parking can be an issue sometimes, but its do able. The few times Ive had to use maintenance, theyre responded quickly and fixed the issue. Matt at the front office is a nice guy, always chats us up.
Great location - you can bike to Zilker Park and the Greenbelt access is wonderful. BUT - the management company is awful. Not responsive to issues and constantly push off issues as not their fault. After water damage (and black mold that caused 2 families to move out after getting very ill), there were electrical issues. I received a bill over $5700 for a month of power, spoke with the utility company and attempted to post a note to neighbors on the private bulletin board asking if anyone had similar issues. My post was rejected by management with no reason given saying I could reach neighbors by other means. So instead of privately helping me out, the management prefers me to post publicly to say how horribly managed this complex is.In 3 months of residing here, my power has been out 4 times and my water cut off 3 times. Lack of communication from management and lack of follow up really makes this complex a bad place to live.Parking - if you have more than 1 car per apartment DO NOT move here.
Its a great location, Close to Intel and Downtown.very quick in service requests, the 2nd saturday Brunch stand it out from the lot.
Apartments are nice, and the pool is great. The only HUGE problem is the parking. I split an apartment with a roomate, and we have only one guaranteed parking spot. Because of how little parking there is, I have to park on the street outside my apartment complex. Its not a huge issue. But after a long day it is frustrating to have to park outside my own complex and walk all the way to the back of the complex to my apartment.
Chelsea, Sarah, Manika & the maintenance crew were all very warm & professional. They were so kind they sent us a card & cookies when our beloved dog died♡My husband & I lived here for 3 years & loved it! The location, pool, dog park & amenities were awesome. I would hike the greenbelt frequently and it is a quick bike ride to Zilker and Lady Bird Lake. Complimentary breakfast & yoga are a huge bonus too!!
These apartments appear nice on the surface, but all the perks of living near barton springs were outweighed by the extreme hassle of living in these apartments. My top complaints are:1) Hidden Fees- Carpet replacement (based on how many years you used the carpet for, 5 yrs= full carpeting cost of $743), and Stove Top replacement (any cosmetic signs of usage warrant full replacement) of $370. Obviously you can kiss your deposit goodbye but I, unfortunately, had to pay several hundred dollars extra to Barton Creek Landing while paying for my moving expenses and a deposit on a new unit.2) Shut Off Water- in my two years at BCL, they shut the water off to my building 17 times, sometimes with up to twelve hours notice but some came without ANY notice. With that many incidents, youre bound to go to work without showering at least once in your stay.3) Parking- You are only allotted one spot per household, and all guests are expected to park outside the gate and walk in, which could be 5-6 min of walking depending on your apartment. If you dont live alone, you will have to walk in, passed dozens of unfilled reserved spots, guaranteed. To add insult to injury, my roommate was harassed for parking her car in the free parking by the leasing office solely because it was an older car with superficial damage. They threatened to have it towed on the basis it could not run, even though it regularly changed spots.Other Things I Didnt Like-Ground maintenence only worked on the area around our unit right before the peak move-in seasonUnits have wood-burning fireplaces which sound nice but not many people want to light an actual smokey fire, clean the thing afterwards, and sacrifice the space it takes up on the floor.Electronic locks for gym and pool dont work very well- I forced my way into the gym every time I went to use itNasty fragrance machines in the common areas which are meant for large scale hotel use, way too strongWhen you use the gym, youre stuck listening to the worst radio station and theres nothing you can do about itManagement selectively allows patio and front door decorations, based on their opinion of the objects style.I recommend these apartments for single people who make more money than they know what to do with, dont mind showering in the pool, and dont have people over.
My wife and I were in Austin for 3 months and leased an apartment at Barton Creek Landing. Our apartment was well designed and had been updated to include stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, new lighting, and new flooring. We even had a working fireplace! The complex is off the MoPac highway and only a couple miles from Zilker Park (site of the annual Austin City Limits!), Barton Springs, and downtown Austin. Despite the fact that the complex was only 1/4 mile from the MoPac freeway, we did not hear much highway noise. The complex has a very nice pool and a great resident lounge and workout center. In addition, the staff was great! We worked with Sarah Craemer and she always helped us quickly and efficiently deal with a couple issues that often come with apartment living. The complex is also well maintained.
Was very impressed after my first visit to the leasing center after speaking with Manika so I submitted an application for a unit and returned a day later to tour the property. Thats when I met Sara who seemed very fake and was not transparent with extra expenses on top of rent (I had to keep asking what the fee is for this and that). The common area was extremely underwhelming and costs money for a couple people to use. Also, parking was extremely limited but they made sure to build a ton of garages to squeeze even more money from its customers. Needless to say, I rescinded my application after 1 full day and was initially told they would try to get my $225 deposit back to me. Nearly two months later, I reach back out and turns out they were not actually refunding me anything. I would not suggest getting locked into a contract at this apartment complex.
Overall amenities are really nice. Apartments are maintained well and noise isnt an issue. The big problem is parking. I have liked here for almost two years and from day one they talk about how they are improving parking, but dont do much. For example each apartment gets one covered space, and parking permits for all other cars, this is so that anyone without a parking pass wouldnt be able to park inside the complex gates. Every night all spaces are taken up, and a handful of those spots are taken by cars with no parking pass. When I called to ask about towing cars without the pass I was told I should look into renting a garage near my apartment, and that no one like being towed. So instead of enforcing their own parking policy in a parking lot that is always packed, they are telling me to spend another $100 with them on a garage. Do not belive them when they say they are working on parking.
Best apartments in Austin in my opinion. We lived here for over three years and they have a great community and a wonderful pool and hot tub, Not to mention Greenbelt access in very close proximity to downtown. We used to bike to ACL and zilker... would love here again and again!
I thought Sara at the front office was a genuine and kind person, however, after my recent difficulties with a $100 late fee I have since learned otherwise.I called and informed her I would be turning in my check late because the office was closed when I picked the check up. She could have informed me there would be a late fee but she failed to mention. Then said she would submit for a refund for me also failing to tell me that it is rare to get one back. She is kind and smiley but is not truthful when speaking to residents. Would prefer to know what is actually going on than to be kept in the dark.Management is difficult to work with and the UDR customer service is even less helpful.
Dont move here. Barely any parking. Choose somewhere else
We stayed here to test out the area on where we’d want to buy a home. Location is great, other than one way in and one way out (so don’t miss your turn, or you’ll have to do a complete loop around mopac). The real issue to me was the nickel and diming. Sure the rent is 1400, add garage, add trash, add car registration fee, add billing fee, drop box fee (which is completely unnecessary since UPS/FEDEX deliver right to our door or to the office) etc., and you’re up to over 1600 for a small two bedroom in no time. And don’t be late on rent after a holiday. I paid the day after Labor Day, the 4th, and it was a $100 late fee, which seemed rather excessive. If I was in town for the Labor Day weekend or still was the type to physically write a check, I would have just left payment on the 3rd despite office being closed, no late fee. I just simply didn’t autopay that month. But late is late, small price to pay to finally leave. The parking is awful, we literally centered our leave and return time to preserve a spot near our building. Our reserved spot was several buildings away which doesn’t work well when you have to carry items (groceries, baseball gear, baby, drunk baby’s mama, etc.). The roach problem was a mess, we tried everything from bringing in the experts to bug traps to electronic devices which helped but didn’t get rid of the problem completely. And the walls are pretty thin, we could hear the dogs running upstairs, seemed like horses the way the ceiling would rattle. One neighbor below asked several times how long I was going to be moving because he was trying to sleep, it was still light out at 8p. Only response I could think of was even longer if you continue to interrupt me. FYI, these stairs are super loud, we could hear everything no matter what time. But it’s apartment life, we expect it to a degree. One year was enough for us here. Loved the area, loved the people at the front and even the maintenance people who were fairly quick to respond, but UDR, lack of comfort or ease of living here all made this complex a big no-go for us. Definitely not a three to five star place, to be fair a two for location and the people that made this place somewhat tolerable. Oh, and don’t expect a deposit to be fully reimbursed if at all. Hope this helps and good luck!!
Great location buy DO NOT move here is Chelsea is still the manager. This is a great location tucked away in the greenbelt, with great access to trails, great views from some of the apartments, and a terrific maintenance staff but the management smile through their teeth while doing very little to actually help or care for the tenants. When lived here it became very clear after only a few months that they care more about the appearance of the grounds than the safety and happiness of the tenants.A little about living there: Fun fact, most of the time the gates do not lock and there are no security cameras pointed at the entrances. When chelsea was asked about doing something about a series of robberies her exact answer was well you cant be 100% safe anywhere. When we moved out after 1 year and were given us cleaning fees without being shown proof of any damages we were told well you should expect cleaning fees when you move out of any apartment. I could go on to other ways they do things to do the bare minimum to actually help us and other tenants and only give the appearance of concern about their well being but you will find out for yourself if you choose to live here.
THE PROS:1) Location. Location. Location. Right off Mopac, even things farther up north or south are just a straight shot down the highway. Greenbelt access trail is really more of a rugged terrain than they may lead you to believe but if youre athletic and/or have a dog, its a dream.2) Amenities: Several grills within the property make it easy to whip up food, decent gym that seldom gets busy, yoga studio, dog park, business center, UV pool without any chlorine, etc. All of these things made the space very homey.3) BCL is pretty great at finding workable solutions. When my roommates miscommunicated at move out and forgot a few things at the house, BCL graciously bagged it up and held on to some of it for us. Also, I requested that the artificial scent machine in the yoga room be discontinued so that I could continue to use the space with my private yoga clients. Chelsea, the property manager was great and acquiesced to this removal of chemical smell. When we had to endure renovations to the building after massive rains from Hurricane Harvey, BCL kindly offered us a storage unit for the hassle.THE CONS:1) Initially, maintenance is fantastic, friendly, and reliable. Tito was always on the ball. In the final months we lived there, some other guy who never introduced himself (mostly because he was always wearing headphones and taking phone calls) started working. The quality of work declined and we would often have to repeat service requests.2) Parking was always a bit of a nightmare. Around ACL or Trail of Lights, forget about it. The apartment will continue to offer you opportunities to pay for guaranteed parking within the gates of the community. Depending on your situation this can be great because it ensures more safety from the break ins that sometimes occur on Bartons Bluff Lane. However, if you already calculated your bills and didnt account for having to pay for car rent too, good luck. Furthermore, if you have an older looking vehicle, you may be berated by the leasing office for parking it in the parking lot by the front. I guess it doesnt go with the image theyre seeking. On multiple occasions, we were contacted about how our 2001 Dodge Durango needed to be moved. Our newer cars parked in the SAME spots near the leasing office seemed to be fine and never merited these threatening phone calls telling us they would tow. Please note, the Durango is in running condition and 2 roommates carpool to school at Texas State in San Marcos in a more fuel efficient vehicle so there might have been a few days or so that the Durango would be in one spot. Please step off with your blatant and bougie double standards, BCL. This is the number one reason I dinged an otherwise 4 star place to 3 stars. Nobody needs to feel threatened by the place they supposedly call home.3) If you cook often, you may acquire a lot of charges at move-out. Let me preface this by saying that the chefs in my household clean as they go. However, the electric stove tops that they have in many units tend to get dirty and be next to impossible to clean to the standards which BCL requires. After just 2 years of use, it cost us +$200 to replace the stove top for cosmetic reasons. There were many more costs to move out than expected but this was by far the greatest one. When I called the billing department in Colorado and spoke with Khalani about these expenses, she was not only unhelpful, she was rude and interrupted me! I asked to speak to her manager but apparently she was the boss lady. Super unprofessional. Finally, I tried the local management once again and we were able to come to reasonable cost of move out. The poor record keeping caused a headache for us as consumers though. We were almost charged for an accent wall (which was there when we moved in but not accounted for from the previous tenant), and for standard fixtures to be replaced. Once again, we didnt change any of this, they just didnt charge the person before us and then tried to charge us.
Never go here. I broke a lease and it went to collections. Thats my fault. No excuses. They blatantly lied about the circumstances. When I lived there, I had electrical issues multiple times It almost caused a fire I could smell it burning in the walls. I had a parking space and a garage, parking was never an issue. Management wasnt bad, real friendly. The head lady wasnt. The UDR coporate was even worse. They didnt have to lie but they did. Very shady company UDR is just not good. Great location bad bad company to lease from.
The apartment is ok but I would highly suggest not moving here if you are going to do a 2 bedroom with 2 people. You only get 1 spot no matter if you have more than 1 bedroom. There is NO parking after 6-7 pm. One of you will HAVE to park outside the complex and even then sometimes there are 10 or more cars. If it wasnt for the parking I would like this place a lot and give it 5 stars but the fact that I have to deal with this every other day is not that great. Especially on work nights and cold mornings. Good luck!
Barton Creek Landing - This seemed like a good choice of a place to live. Relatively cheap for the location, decently renovated apartments, and so on. You get what you pay far. Do you like to have any guests over? Dont expect them to find parking. They elimated all of the guest parking, so its better they just take a taxi to your place. On move-out, they charged us for all new carpet, claimed the pet deposit ($350) was a pet fee (even though the manager called it a pet deposit), and monthly pet rent of $20 was the same, none of which cover an charges. Then on move-out, they mysteriously extended our lease for an additional week and charged us at the higher MTM rate for that week. Then claimed that the 60 day notice was submitted on day 55 (even though it was agreed on because we were out of the country). So, if you hate having friends over, love having money stolen from you, and like living in a cave of an apartment, live here.
The property overall is fairly good. It has nice amenities and floor plans but that is about it. I felt pressured coming upon my move in day with numerous emails and the office basically blackmailing/threatening however youd like to put it on what I HAVE to do in order to get their special. I toured and HAD to move in to the apartment within a week in order to receive their special. They would not even budge a day. On top of them knowing I had to move within a week which means packing, setting up utilities, etc. They almost didnt accept my renters insurance because it was an application. Do they not realize THEY made me move this fast.To make it even worse once I moved in and even weeks later I noticed the very slim parking spots for residents. I came to the office to ask and their response by the Property Manager was Its near downtown so you would normally pay for a spot and we have garages. I can tell the manager doesnt work on solving problems but instead pushes them off on lame excuses. I know many properties that have parking issues and they implement resident parking on the community with visitor spots. Id rather have a space available for me to park then a visitor. Not to mention who know how many secondary vehicles people have or work vehicles. I makes sense with this kind of parking to start his process. In the end I am happy with the home and amenities but the way the office treats residents and parking are lacking.
Just renewed my lease after a great year with BCL. You cant beat the value for one of the best spots to live in Austin. You can hike straight into the greenbelt and its just a few minute drive to downtown. Both the complex and the apartments are very nice and management is continually improving things (painting, landscaping, etc.). The staff is great and always helpful. Work orders have been prompt and well-executed. There are some other major perks: the heated pool and hot tub are great, a super nice clubhouse with 3 different cable boxes for football season thats almost always available for rent, free monthly brunch. Everyone Ive met here at the complex has also been nice and there seems to be a good sense of community, even with a wide variety of people (families, young professionals, etc.). Some people might complain about parking availability but most of my friends live in apartment complexes that have much worse situations and I dont find it to be a problem myself. I would highly recommend BCL to anyone.
Been here about seven months, and Im ready to counter all the negative reviews I read about BCL while I was shopping apartments. The rooms are nice, clean, all the appliances are new, each room has TV and W/D. All my requests have been met quickly by the maintenance staff. The gym, pool and grills are really nice amenities, along with the party room and TV room seen above. The staff regularly has parties and brunches for us, and just started offering free yoga classes on site. Never had an issue with guest parking, if the lot is full, they can park down each side of Bartons Bluff. I also frequently jog to Zilker or the Green Belt from my apartment. Only con I can think of is the rates, which are pricey. Time for people on this page to give credit where credit is due.
I lived at Barton Creek Landing for one year and I had a great experience. If you are looking for a place near Zilker/Greenbelt with quick access to Mopac, I highly recommend that you check out BCL!Pros:*Again, the awesome location. You can quickly bike down to Zilker and there is access to the Greenbelt just behind the complex. Spyglass is just a street over, so I became a frequent patron of Taco Deli in that area. I also felt I beat some of the horrid Austin traffic with the easy access to Mopac.*Management was incredibly attentive. All my service requests were handled within 48 hours. I once had an issue with my air conditioning on a hot day. I expressed my concern that my dog was in my unit in the heat and I was contacted directly with reassurance that they were handling the issue.*I had no issues with moving out. I felt the move out process was transparent and I was honestly surprised that I received my deposit back so quickly.*The pool is gorgeous and heated. I used the grill often too.*The complex is dog friendly!*I had an awesome one-bedroom floor plan that was set-up townhouse style. I havent come across anything like it yet in Austin.Cons:*Although it was clear there was a remodel with new flooring, granite counter tops, and stainless steel appliances, I felt that the carpet needed to be replaced and the paint needed to be redone.*I had a covered parking spot which I appreciated, but I found it hard to accommodate guests when they would visit. I often had to recommend street parking.*I did feel my rent was high for the size of my place, but I stuck with it for a year because I loved the complex amenities and my location.
Would not recommend anyone to darken the doorstep of Barton Creek Landing. Heres why:Parking: No matter the size of your unit you will only be granted one parking space. If youre a two car household you have three options: try to find a limited empty spot before 6:00pm during the week or never on the weekend; pay for a reserve spot (which further limited the availability of option A); or pay for a garage.Management: Ive never lived in a complex more focused on nickel and dimeing its tenants than BCL. Our move-out experience was atrocious. We paid a $250 hassel-free cleaning fee to then be charged an additional $131 for random additional cleaning charges. In order to use their package delivery service you need to pay a fee. They charge a ridiculous amount of fees for pets. Im honestly surprised the washer and dryer in our unit didnt have coin slots.Security: When you first arrive at BCL youll notice the gates at each entrance. These will give you the sense that this is a totally secure facility. That said, the gates were not closed for over 50% of it 2.5 year stint at BCL. They never work properly and I often would be yelled at from random cars in the parking lot asking for directions (clearly not tenants). While we were fortunate to never experience any criminal activity personally, we did receive emails about car break ins and other activity. The Positives: I do want to point out that the maintenance staff at BCL was tremendous. Very hard-working, timely and efficient at providing a solution to any issues. While the location has some perks, access to the greenbelt, we found that the poor walkability to anything else was a detriment.
Not sure about all the negative comments. Second year living here and no big complaints. Construction sucks but I knew that moving in.
We live there for two years. It was an ok experience until the last six months. We had a downstairs neighbor who smoked like crazy! My closet smelled like cigaret and it was horrible! Also the parking is awful! no designated spaces! first come first serve pretty much if you dont have a garage!
Amazing pool, and most of the staff cares about the residents. They really made an effort to improve parking over the last year and it shows. A little overpriced, just like the rest of Austin, but oh well. Great for dogs with secret access to the Greenbelt. Close enough to bike or even walk to Zilker, as shown by the parking lot full of ACL-ers.
I have really enjoyed living here over the last 11 mos. The greenbelt is easily accessible from the community, one of the trails leads directly to Barton Springs. My friends came in town for ACL, it was easily walkable to Zilker Park. Parking can be scare but managment has recently implemented visitor parking outside of the community, which is great because the residents paying rent deserve the open parking spaces. Not to mention, every apartment comes with one covered parking space. Definitely recommended for location, upgrades, and amenities.
Lack of guest parking. Otherwise, very nice complex.
Good location but apartments need to be consistent for price.
Never move to Barton creek landing here is all the time water problems and big parking issues
Dont move here, no parking in this community. They used space in this apt community to build garages which they can put it on rent and make money out of it, i am very sad and unhappy with parking situation
A little expensive but very comfortable
Nice!
