Wont let me delete my post. I meant this for the Lewiston/Auburn office. I have not had to work with the Augusta branch. But I guess if you want to know about their office and my exp. keep reading. lolSo far I have had a good exp with this office. Overall my case workers have been as helpful as they can be with in the limits of the law as I expected. However they have almost always returned my calls and email in a timely manner. I have had a few hick ups here and there. This is mostly for the reason I had to take a star away. My one issue is that my case has had to change hands a few times and because of this I have had times when my call or email has had either a delayed response or no response. But thats what happens when you dont have enough workers for the case loads I guess.I am not a robot or fake reviewer. I have had a semi complex case involving three different states. I had to put a child support collection order on myself to be able to not have my childrens mother hound me every month for money. And Maine upheld their end and did more than the other states involved to make this happen. Because I left active duty and had to start at a lower paying job I got behind on my support. Once I had gotten a better paying job I had to submit the collection case on myself to get it all sorted out.

I am court ordered to receive a substantial amount in backpay child support. The department of health and human services support enforcement agency has decided that because I received TANF briefly, they have the right to apply the only payment I have received from the other parent in years to an amount owed to the state of Maine AND take the amount off the debt acquired. How is this legal? My children are all grown up now and it seems that I will never get any reimbursement. While receiving TANF, I understand that they have the right to any support paid, but this is over a decade later. On the report they sent me it has child support paid in as amounts I received from them for TANF payments. They are literally stealing money Ive already paid to raise my children alone and applying a debt to the state for what little child support was paid. I cant seem to get a straight answer from anyone who works there. Im in the process of obtaining a lawyer and removing the state of Maine from my child support case.

Phone operators are condescending and judgemental

They will do nothing for the parent owed-they literally cater to deadbeat parents..and treat the custodial/primary parent..the parent OWED..like a criminal..24 years..2 children..I’ve done LITERALLY all their work for them..they ENFORCE nothing

This is the most horrendous institution to deal with. They cannot get their facts straight, and outright lie about what facts they have. They automatically assume that the one receiving support is truthful and the one paying support is not. In fact I was told by one agent that I was not offered due process in providing evidence against a false claim because I was the perpetrator yet she had no idea what I perpetrated other than having a good job and greedy ex. Despite the fact that I dont owe any past-due child support, and have a letter from the cancelling a hearing I requested because they finally agreed that I dont; they still seized my Federal Tax return for past due child support. They also have sent correspondence to my employer stating that I have past due child support which again is fallacious. There is no working with these people, they feel that whatever they do is right and no evidence is going to convince them otherwise. When I have asked to speak to a supervisor in the past I have been laughed at when I was there in person, and I waited until the end of the day and was told oh I guess no one is going to be able to see you after waiting well over an hour that I had to take out of my busy day. I have called and have not received calls back. This corrupt system works hand in hand with the corrupt family court system in this state to steal what doesnt belong to them with zero accountability. This organization needs to be overhauled!

Always awful. Always taking way too long no matter what time of any day to get through, and when you do get through they are super rude and unhelpful.

Constantly calling and get no where, not to mention my worker has the worst attitude toward people that Ive ever incountered. I find it hilarious that a so called state funded agency only has a few people working per day and no one else can talk to me

You NEVER get a human being!! Got 20 bucks this week from dser YET my order says 124/week. Done with these people!! Nothing but BS! DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICES! IM DONE! Pretty sad when my child has to pay her fathers fees!!!!!

I’ve been trying for a week to get a copy of information sent to my email. Endless phone tag with no results. The system is broken and needs to addressed. All I’m asking for is a breakdown of what I pay to each child and a letter stating when the oldest drops off in June. It’s a simple request really. Patience is a must dealing with the state.

I called this place a week ago and left they had my case file, I asked to speak with someone that had called me about needing a birth certificate and I got a voice mail and never heard back. I called again today and now they are telling me that I don’t even have an open case with them! I sent them the birth certificate and I was calling to make sure they received it. I guess I’m going to have to send ANOTHER application in.

Terrible service from the lady at the front desk. Ive been calling and calling and still have no return calls.

I Can never get any help. If you have a question they forward you over to the automated system that just tells you what you already know. Wich is nothing. My X works and I dont receive a dime. Owes me over $10,000. And I cant receive any help from the state because my X sees my child once a week so they say my son is not deprived. He does not help support our son in any way. Still has his driving license too. what a joke!!

Its ridiculous that I have to pay for this service or should I say lack of service. They tell you what they want and do what they want with no explanation.

Unbelievable. The whole support division needs to be addressed. You can never talk to who you need to and when you do get it through it takes an act of Congress to get your info right. But guess who gets in trouble for not paying when THEY cant get it right

Worst place ever. I am paying current and back support for over a year for three children that live with me and have been living with me. Their mother is useless and DHHS takes over half my check for ‘support’ which they don’t even actually give to their mother in the end. So yeah thanks to DHHS I’m supposed to support three kids on 33% of my income and I don’t qualify for Foodstamps because DHHS basically gave sole custody to their mom for her to neglect them anyway. DHHS here is disturbingly corrupt. They’ll just keep giving the deadbeat mom enough tanf to fund a small country though....

Called me numerous times. Some ignorant customer service agent hung up on me And said oh so sorry wrong number. How would she know if she hung up me!!! I do Not owe anyone or any company money! I wish the ignorant CSA gave me time to explain why I was calling. If I call back (now) someone hangs up on me. Reporting this to the BBB!

Horrible customer support! I called for my husband to help with his support cases and the lady was rude and flat out stated she ouldnt help and to call our local office when we were looking for the person who wrote the document. But if I call as a mother for my kids case at the other number I get all the help I need!!! Its Its disgusting

This whole division is a joke and needs a major overhaul. My fiancé has a child from a previous relationship and the biological father frequently goes off radar. They will call her asking if she has any new information on him yet she can’t ask why the department isn’t doing more to enforce the child support order. When asked to speak to the case worker involved in the case she got a letter stating the custodial parent has no access to the case worker. They have confirmed that the biological father is not following the rules of the order (example, notifying them within 15 days of address change or employment change) yet they don’t do a damn thing about it. They refuse to provide documentation that my fiancé supposedly signed back in 2004 stating it would be at the agents discretion as to how hard they would pursue collections. You best believe that when she recieved TANF 10 years ago they were all over the biological Dad for payment yet the minute she no longer recieves any assistance they don’t give a damn.

My Ex husband owes over $10,700 in back child support. Every time I try to talk to someone I get hung up on or redirected. Obviously since Im not on welfare they dont care about weather or not he pays for his kids. He works under the table and avoids any attempt to collect this is ridiculous. So much for helping people

Pretty sad as a single dad I get 60$ a week when i no shes making a lotttt more than that and i can barley feed my son cause god forbid I get more than 160$ in food stamps that last a week then allllllllllll the great child support lmao what do u do for work cause when the shoe was on my foot I was paying out th a asssssss but guess my disability will cover it all joke main is a saddddd state and really need to get there heads out there butts.....this is a dammmmm joke

Child support is a business under title IV-D they are not law you can sue the agency under 42 U.S. Code § 1983 - Civil action for deprivation of rights
