The Atlanta USO provides a much-needed quiet place for Service members traveling through the worlds busiest airport. The receptionist cautioned me that should more active duty military and/or their family show up I would be asked to leave. Great policy! The volunteers quickly ensured everyone who entered got a detailed review of the centers offerings and amenities. As a retiree I am most appreciative of any time I can spend at the USO while traveling, even on a space available.

🔹️ UPDATE...... THIS HAPPENED AT THE ORLANDO, FL AIRPORT!!!!! NOT ATL AIRPORT.Well this is very interesting! I came her to leave a review and I see another review of a veteran who says they told him, because he was a veteran, if so many active duty show up, they would ask him to leave. That is NOT what they told me!I landed in ATL, with my BFF, after traveling all day! We were tired and all we wanted was a cup of coffee! I told her lets go to the USO!!! I have heard so many things about them and how great it was, but had never visited one! I was so excited! We walk in and the lady says can I see your military ID? So I pull out my VA ID. As you know the USO relays on volunteers in order to SUPPORT the service members. I’m sitting at the USO and one of the volunteers (Gale) came in with little red bag of goodies. As she started to unload, she asked if anyone would like a “sausage biscuit” (but not your typical sausage cheese biscuit). She offered me a biscuit and as I looked at it, I noticed the sausage and cheese was inside of the biscuit. I ate one and thought, this is soooo unique and I have never saw this before. They were moist, and a bit of cheese and sausage in every bite. If you are in the Atlanta Airport USO, you have to try them. The USO is awesome and my wife and I travel quite a bit and enjoy and appreciate the volunteers and sponsors for allowing this to be available to us. I can probably say, all these “sky clubs” have nothing on the awesome volunteers and their down home support they provide. I feel there is a difference in being a “Volunteer” and “Paid Employee”, for a service that is greatly appreciated. “I salute you”, the volunteers of all of the USO’s around the globe!!! Thank you 🙏...

Nice facilities as far as infrastructure is concerned. Just dont expect anything in the way of food or snacks. Military visitors here bring in food from the food court. The only offerings I see are apples, oranges, a few sandwiches pre-wrapped and some opened, flat 2 liter drinks. Oh and some packaged crackers. Definitely the skimpiest offerings in a USO. Thats too bad. Due to the early closing time of 7 p.m., newcomers are advised at the front desk to go to The Waffle House downstairs.

When I went to the outside security location the desk attendant asked me if I was Active Duty and denied me entry. When I asked her if that was at both (airport) locations, she told me Yes. Upon boarding on concourse D, a sign at the gate announced Active Duty and Retirees could access the ATL USO on concourse B. What gives? Was the sign wrong, or was I unjustly profiled and stereotyped? I am a Retiree.

Please Read* First Active Military members, stop with your complaining! USO is voluntary staffed, kind of like you volunteered to Serve. Not all places are perfect, comfy and cushy...like my Air Force peeps. Stop expecting free hand outs! Enjoy what’s provided at no cost to you or look elsewhere, you have choices. Veterans, thank you for your service. Understand USO is mostly catered to Active Military...Again Active Military...meaning people who are currently serving! Think of it this way Vets... if you own a small business place (example: most all USO) and all things are voluntary (free) given (food, internet, chairs, etc).. normally not a whole lot keep in mind... and you have people who you currently employ and they use your “Free” service, but past employee want to use it too... some to include their families mind you...wouldn’t it be hard for you to keep things up and running. The Common Sense answer is... Yes. And it would not be fair for the people who are currently working/ serving our country. Veterans, You have enjoyed your benefits while serving, let the currently enlisted enjoy theirs. **But if they have room for you at the USO..be Grateful and Thankful! And ask yourself next time....do I Donate or volunteer at my local USO to make it better? Or I’m I expecting handouts like Liberals and most Democrats? Bye...Off I go we go into the wild blue yonder, climbing high into the sun.

Why have a USO on the outside of security? Not at all helpful or convenient for those flying into ATL—especially going overseas and your gate is in E concourse. I would agree with the other comments about the location. However, once you find this oasis in the sea of madness known as ATL, its a wonderful, bright, and refreshing facility. There are no restrooms so you have to use the ones on the baggage claim level between the North and South sides. It is quite chilly and there are no blankets, so dress warmly. My only feedback to the managers concerns the TVs. There are 3 TVs along the far wall. Each TV is on a different station with the volume up. It is so confusing and annoying. Maybe closed captioning on the CNN and Fox News channels? Regular volume on ESPN? I had to wear ear plugs or my ear buds.Thank you to the volunteers for giving your free time to the USO.
