Beautiful........ I have never been up there without snow. Its worth going in any vehicle. Especially a motorcycle. I wrote a poem .Mt. Ashland is awesome,Mt. Ashland is neat,I hiked up to the topAnd got sore feet. Its really pretty to look at,Its beautiful to see,I love the view from atop,I felt so free.
Got to go skiing here for the first time yesterday.Strong Points of the Resort1. Great variety of advanced skiing terrain. You want chutes, drops, moguls, steeps, trees? This place has plenty of those.2. The lifts are old school (nostalgic for me). They have two doubles and two triples, but the doubles are the longest lifts serving the most terrain.3. Slopes are north eastern facing. Snow holds up pretty well. I imagine later in the year theres great spring skiing without too much mashed potatoes as the elevation is a bit higher.4. Ashland is nearby with a lot of good restaurants and hotels due to the summer Shakespeare festival.5. Higher elevation so not quite as much as rain in early season as other PNW resorts.6. Good views of Mt. Shasta and Aspen Butte.7. Lodge is cute and has a unique layout with 3 different levels.8. Locals are friendly (except for the teens) and love their mountain and are happy to talk about it the and give advice.Weak Points.1. Not as much snow as other PNW resorts2. Some of the lifts are so low they almost pinched my boots, especially the triple chair Comer lift.3. I tried to book two separate lessons for me and my partner (had email confirmation) but they only had one instructor for us to share.4. Not a good variety of beginner, advanced beginner or weak intermediate runs. No problem for me, but I have an eye out for teaching my kiddos still (7, 10, and 12). If you are just perfecting your Christie turns or starting on parallel, youll find much of the mountain too steep for you. Just ski Juliet (its a fun run but pretty short at about .5 miles) until it gets boring, then work your way over to Romeo and ski that until you have it down before you go any of the other blues which at times cross 30 degrees.5. Food was pretty good but not great.
We come from san Diego California to the beautiful Mt Ashland Oregon. This is the only mountain I love to take my sons and my daughter to snowboard. I love the attitude of the staff. Wonderful service of all. Thank you for welcoming like a family.
Ashland was super fun. It had many groomed trails and a small terrain park at the bottom of Tempest. There were many trails ruined by Moguls which made it not ideal for some skiers and most snowboarders, but nonetheless it had fresh snow and all lifts were working. The only really bummer was that the lobby was closed for drinks, food, and gifts. Overall great place to learn and every person on lift ops were super chill and friendly on the weekend. Btw thanks for putting out a small terrain park it was fun.
This was a blast, and couldnt have been more fun. The workers were patient and understanding...the slopes were killer and seemed like everyone there was in great spirits. Loved it and plan on doing it again real soon.
We love this little home town ski area. It has a good elevation and north east exposure, so it catches and holds the snow pretty well. The quaint old mid-century lodge has been recently remodeled and expanded without compromising its style.Windsor Chair and Ariel Chair are some of the oldest fixed-double chair lifts youll ride anywhere.
There was snow. A lot of it. And an awesome view. Me and my dog Derpy dont ski, so we cant say much about that, but there was lots of doggie and human socializing in the parking lot.
Its a small mountain, but its loaded with terrain ranging from very advanced (see photo) to beginner.I would describe this mountain as a locals hill because there are all sorts of fun hidden spots that take some exploring to find. The best part is its completely feasible to ride every single run at least once!
View is beautiful! Wind always!
Mt. Ashland is seriously the only thing thats been keeping me sane during the pandemic this winter. Im continuously impressed by how theyre able to enforce safety standards (e.g., mask wearing and physical distancing) while still keeping everything fun and remarkably normal. The lifties are always dancing and asking how you are. The dose of laughter and good will is worth the price of the lift ticket by itself.Ive heard some people say its too difficult to learn here, but I dont think thats true. I learned towards the end of last year through the First Tracks program (private lessons would do the trick too), and Im comfortable with much of the mountain now. Im a determined person but not a particularly athletic one. The Sonnet tickets are cheap so theres no reason not to spend as many sessions as you like on this lift growing your confidence and skills. The only other thing I would say for newcomers is that the cat track that feeds the Comer and Windsor lifts is tight and can be busy. Ive seen a couple people get badly injured there. I wouldnt say its dangerous per se, but I do think its prudent to wear a helmet.
Despite the restrictions and reduced lodge access due to COVID, the staffs spirit is great, and its still super fun to be up here. Thanks Mt. Ashland staff!
Awesome view of Shasta to say goodbye to you after a nice day at Ashland
Steep and cheap. Not great for beginners outside the designated zones, but good nonetheless.
Epic place, epic memories. Mt Ashland is a rad spot! Shred por Vida!
Sweet place to board or ski. Shhhhh dont tell anyone!!
Legit spot well worth the drive!
Had a great time today on Mt Ashland, friendly staff, great slopes, no waiting anywhere... will return in the future.
Lifts are a little slow, mountain is a little small, but on a good snow day this place is an absolute gem in the rough. 10/10 would ski again
Had a blast and the crew was super friendly and helpful
Fills up quickly, road isnt great, isnt bad, your standard ski resort road.
Awesome great staff some.good slopes
Really great park for all types of skiers/snowboarders. Beginning - advanced. They also have night riding 2x a week. They dont have a lot of variety, but for the price and when the weather is nice its a really great choice. I live about 4 hours away and we get a group to come here because its such a nice little mountain and definitely worth it! Great little town too.
The snow is amazing this year. Lots of events planned out. Epic new lodge design. Love that! Perfect runs for my kid. And yes great runs for papa! Thanks Mt. A ! Stay awesome.
The best. Period.
Wonderful Ski Area! Medium size with Steep sections that will make you a Better skier! Lodge is Amazing!
I was really amazed at how advanced and shredable Ashland has become in the last 30 years. I skied the mountain in 87. Not real impressed after all Mammoth was my go to resort. I just skied Ashland yesterday, and I believe I just might have to get a season pass next year!!! Thanks for stepping up the local slope, Bachelor is a long drive since Im only 50 miles N. of ashland.
We had the opportunity to work as lift operators during a season that saw record snowfall. 3 of us moved there from Arkansas, not knowing how to ski or snowboard. And they hired us. We learned how to snowboard on an icy night on Mt Ashland before opening day luckily and had an unforgettable experience working the lifts
Every community should have such a great local mountain! What an opportunity to get the kids up on skis and enjoy the outdoors during the winter. The senior staff was working the lodge, checking on patrons, and addressing issues immediately. We always have a great time!
Great snowboarding mountain
Love Mt Ashland. Beautiful setting with views of Mt Shasta, Mt McLaughlin, and the Cascades. A surprising variety of terrain for a small area. From cruising Dream to challenging The Bowl or sipping craft beer in the beautiful lodge, Mt Ashland has something for everyone.
Mount Ashland has the perfect blend of fun, challenging slopes, friendly helpful staff, and scenery like nowhere else. It is so easy to get up here, park, quickly get a ticket and jam down the slope to ride all day and some eves. Best Local Gem! Hope the staff and management know they are awesome.
For a first timer and total n00b to skiing, our instructor Erin from Alaska was amazing. Super patient and answered all of my questions. The 2 hour lesson flew right by and she was able to coach not only myself but also my boyfriend who has skied before a few times. She was able to show him some new techniques while also tending to me being super slow down the bunny slope :) cant wait to go back!
Love this mountain. Not as big as bachelor or Shasta, steeper though, lots more fun to me. First day back in 6 years. This winter is great so far!!
Its a cute, small, ol ski resort. The backside of the mountain is fun. When it gets snow, its great place for families and kids. The lodge is old and gives a timeless feel to it. Great bar with good beer.
Mt. Ashland offered me a great lessons package that I found invaluable. The instructors know their stuff and are so kind in helping me become a knowledgeable skier. New Years Eve was absolutely gorgeous. I had an excellent and safe time. Definitely going to come back next season.
The people working here are so nice! They let MSEF race and even have their own lessons and teams too offer for people to join! They lines usually dont take all that long and the slopes are super fun, especially the bowl!
Love this place! I dont ski but we go up in the summer (dont try from fall till spring) and drive the scenic road (not recommended for low cars, it can be rough) to the top where the ski lifts take you and the view is amazing! At night if you head down the backroad. Away from the ski lights you get a beautiful view of the stars and at most times can see the milky way! This is one of my favorite back roads to drive!
Rustic but great local ski area when they have enough snow. Good sledding too when they dont. The view of Mt Shasta from the parking lot is worth the drive up - careful on the road down: often icy and treacherous. Lodge was just renovated.
Southern Oregons famous ski resort mountain! Great variety of terrain and slopes. Novice to expert runs, from gentle to steep. Good terrain parks and jumps. Exploring in-between the trees is my favorite part!
This place is old school and I love it. Great mountain for such a small resort. The biggest challenge is the weather. If youre expecting gondolas and bubble lifts youre in the wrong place, but this is a super fun mountain, with a chill vibe.
Worst management staff ever. Opening day managers inside behind the lift ticket counter screaming at customers being completely disrespectful. After the new renovations would you not be stoked to finally be open? Would recommend the drive to Mt. Shasta absolutely worth it and the staff is at least happy and joyful to be there. Why would you work in the industry if you are miserable when it snows? Would highly recommend any other ski resort in the area to spend your money.
I have not skied here but we went sledding and it was super fun. They had loud music playing that you could hear all around the lodge which I loved but that may not be everyones cup of tea. The lodge is cool. We didnt get any food but there were lots of places to sit and enjoy the warmth and look at the snow. It could use a good cleaning and some upgrades but it was very pretty with amazing views.
Always a good time.
Loved it today!
Super chilled bar, amazing food. A treat to see some snow
I have never been here in the winter time however i can tell you that it is a wonderful place to hike around in the middle of summer. Great views and it is very close to Medford so it is really easy to get to. And it is always about 20 degrees cooler up on top of the mountain than it is down in the valley.
Mt. Ashland is charming and cozy, which means it is hard to love and if the Rogue Valley is your home its your only choice within a reasonably close distance. The runs are steep which makes for a quick trip back to the dreadfully slow chair lifts but youll find hidden gems around the mountain that are worth hitting over and over.A decent freestyle park has been thoughtfully put together that offers challenge for any level.Recent renovations to the lodge restore some original structures and provide additional space but while fixing the long lines at the kitchen have created absurdly long delays at the ticket counter, now doubling as the rental shop. It took 45 minutes to purchase 2 lift tickets. Sorry, unacceptable. There seems to be no floor manager in the lodge and a significant lack of cohesion with the staff. The coffee shop cant serve product from the counter in the same area and no one knows why there are no coffee cups available after youve already paid. With that, you still have to check it out. With the slushy sunny days or the shear ice on the commonly windy days, theres so many cool smiles from not only the staff working their ass off but the whole friendly community that stands behind the entire operation.
Wonderful ski resort! Smaller, with plenty of variety to satisfy every level of skier and boarder. Well-run, reasonably priced, and easy to access. Community owned with a strong family oriented attitude.
Can you go wrong with fresh powpow? Not all the lifts were running but it was a beautiful day. Recent remodel is well done, renting gear is a smooth, fast process with friendly staff and the kitchen was still getting the process down but is a decent spot for some mid-run food or drinks.
I love this mountain.Everyone is like family.Try the sweet potato fries, theyre awesome.
This place is an amazing spot to get your full alpine experience. A very friendly staff, reasonable pricing and a vibe you wont find anywhere else!!!
The parking area is a state operated snow park area. The state bears primary responsibility for plowing the road and the parking lot, so you need to have a snow park permit (daily or seasonal) issued by the state. Or dont buy the permit and get a ticket (from the state). This issue is beyond the control of the mountain or its management.
Great slopes, great rates, great staff!
Pretty steep runs, so be aware of that. Other than that, its a nice mountain. Can sometimes get crowded, but its not that much of an issue.
Ski right up... no lift lines... nice runs.
Great ski resort. Beautiful mountain. Wide variety of runs. Very competitive prices.
Love small ski parks! Great terrain! A little something for everyone, I enjoyed the bowl.
Place is nice and staff is friendly. Snow season wasnt as good as last year but you cant blame them for that. Only negative was, It was a little pricey for the amount of runs they had open.
Mountain itself is great! The place is like that drunken uncle who can never get it together. Been this way for long time. I once rode @100 times a yr and being closed on tue and wed sucks. That was the locals bes days, since it was slower. Sucks to be a pass holder. Enjoy the crowds!
This place is great for experienced skiers, and snowboarders. The mountain can be a little rough for newbies. The food is a little overpriced, but they are all the way up the mountain, so it ok.
You know, Ive never actually skied here. Just brought the kids up to play in the snow. And there was plenty of snow, just not many places to play in it. But thats not the point of this place, right?
Poor cafeteria, but good service.Beautiful area!Parking lot way too small....
Beautiful and cozy ski lodge with all the amenities
I’ve been skiing on Mt Ashland since I was 11 years old when our 6th grade teacher Mr Dew “Bristo Elementary “ took us up on a field trip .There was the rope tow and T bar then .learning to ski at Mt A prepaired me for any mountain in the country . There’s been a lot of changes since I was a kid . We support all Mt A’s future goals . We leave early to get good parking and quick access to the lodge . It’s always nice to see all the happy people . on a blue bird day the view is beautiful. Mt A will always be loved by us ... thanks for all you do guys keep up the goodness ..
Great little mountain. Fun backside pow stashes, good times.
Do not eat at the lodge. Enormously over priced! $9 for literally a little cup of ceaser salad which probably was a dollar in food cost at the most. The girl that took my order literally didnt say anything, just stuck her hand out for me to hand my card to her, swiped the card and then placed my card on the counter. She did not want to be there. Next time Im bringing my own food up there.
Real crowded the day we went, but I understood why the snow was great as was the skiing.
This place has so much potential. Parking is ridiculous when crowded. Friendly staff, bar is great. I know they are constantly remodeling
Great mountain! Great staff! Great price!
It will be a 5 star when they open a year round lodge.
Beautiful scenery, fair prices, great skiing, great food, friendly helpful caring staff
If you are into sliding on snow get out to Mt. Ashland and enjoy a gem of the area.
Great place for skiing or snowboarding. Nice hills for beginners and more challenging lifts for the advanced skiiers. Not over crowded and lodge was toasty warm.
Went up there today in August and theyve got some really great downhill mountain bike trails summer fun
Great place to go, nice people, wasnt crowded and the sun was out, had fun.
I love Mt A. It is a small mountain, but lots of fun.
