Glorious day with my son and Brother in law. Troy put us on fish on a warm summer day. Great company, friendly and managed 3 fly anglers on a tight creek with hands on instructions of methods. With poor weather early this week and a family emergency, Mountain Fly Anglers adjusted schedules to help make our trip happen. Very accommodating, Thank You!

Wade half day on 3/17/21 with Scott. Worth every penny. Pulled out 36 fish with several hogs being among them. Ive been fly fishing for 5 years now and Scott did a fantastic job of building on the skills I already had and introducing some new techniques that I can take back to Colorado. I asked him questions all day relating to bugs, patterns, casts, and gear. Fun guy to hang out with and I thank him for a great day on the river.

Had a great half day wade trip with Doug, caught over 20 fish with variety of Rainbows, Browns, and Brook trout! He gave great instruction and was a great guy and made the whole trip worth it! Highly recommend the guys at Mountain Fly Anglers!

Great time fly fishing with my dad and son in Asheville. Chris, our awesome guide almost had to cancel our wading morning trip due to rain the night before causing higher water levels and CFS. Fortunately, he made the call that we were good to go. Chris made sure we had an easily accessible area for my dad, whos 84. He also had great beginner tips for me and advanced level for my dad and son. We caught 6 trout total and had an amazing family memory with 3 generations.

Doug and his team of guides are amazing. We had a corporate group of almost 30 people of all ages and skill levels. He and his guides made sure that almost every single one of them got on a fish and had an amazing experience! Top notch outfit. Cant wait to return!

Me and a buddy took a a half day wade with Ryan on 12/28/20. Honestly had a blast! My buddy and I were both newbies to fly fishing. Ryan was awesome and very patient with us. Even though it wasnt an ideal time of the year, he still got us on fish. I cant wait till spring time to go back and meet up with Ryan again. Great time and I highly recommend these guys! This wade trip was mine and my husbands 2nd time fishing with Scott. He is so knowledgeable, patient and really loves what he does! Its always a pleasure spending the day with him. This trip, we caught some big (and I mean biggg) brown trout. Mine was super fiesty and Scott guided me through the whole process of landing him. He was super happy and excited for me! My in-laws also went on a half day wade trip with him 2 days after us. They have never fly fished before but definitely enjoyed their trip with Scott as well. I would highly recommend fishing with Scott & Mountain Fly Anglers and I cannot wait for next time!

Chris took me fishing on a beautiful stream. I caught both brown and rainbow trout. This was the highlight of my trip! Chris knew what he was doing and was at the meeting location early with everything we could conceivably need for four hours on the river. Great experience. Our group had to be spilt upDoug was with a few of my buddies and they said he was great, knowledgeable, and helped everyone land a fish. They had a blast with him.Chris was with my buddy and me. He taught us the basics and helped us every step of the way (we both had never been fly fishing before). We got a total of 10 fish!! Great guy, wonderful conversations, and very, very knowledgeable. I can’t recommend Chris enough.

Doug took out my boyfriend and I for a half day wade. We had the best time and it was definitely the highlight of our trip.. we can’t wait to fly fish again! 100% recommend anyone to use mountain fly fishers. We went out with Doug and he was extremely knowledgeable on everything and answered all of our questions with patience. He was a blast to be around and taught us the basics in about 5-10 minutes that left us a lot of time to catch some fish! We both caught into the double digits during our trip and he even took us out an extra hour free of charge. Can’t wait to come back and fish with Doug again!

Chris Snyder was such a great guide. Very chill and informative. Awesome he shared his love of the sport. We caught about 20 trout and had a fantastic trip. 7:30 AM start. Did a half day trip. Got lunch afterwards. 💯% will definitely be hitting him up in the near future.

Went on a float today with Mountain Fly Anglers and they are outstanding. Extremely patient with beginners and does a great job of teaching while keeping it light and fun. They also know the streams extremely well and can put even the most experienced anglers on fish since he knows the waters and what the fish are eating.

I cannot say enough great things about these guys. My guide Ryan was outstanding. Easy to get along with and very knowledgeable. He was very helpful with my fiancée as it was her first time fly fishing. She caught a fish right off the bat. We ended up catching a bunch of fish. Bookies, browns and rainbows. He taught me a little bit about euro nymphing and I fished that rig most of the day. We had such a great time that we booked a second trip a few days later. We fished different creek and started off catching fish again right away. Nice bookies, browns and a big rainbow! I really couldnt has asked for a nicer guy to fish with. Doug was a great help from the beginning when I first called to see about booking a trip. I could tell right away that these guys were the ones that I was booking my trip with. We are already planning on our next trip back to North Carolina and definitely fishing with Ryan again.

Had an amazing day on the river with Doug. He was extremely helpful and patient in my first experience fly fishing. We spent the day floating and he taught me many different techniques and better yet explained the reason why each was used. He was very knowledgeable and it was easy to tell he enjoyed his job helping his clients catch fish. I would love to get back to Asheville soon and do it again.

Chris made my first attempt at flying fishing a wonderful experience. He was very patient and understanding when I went after tree trout! He was very accommodating on fishing a spot that my wife could watch. Oh, we also caught fish! I will definitely try Mountain Fly Anglers again.

Had an amazing time with Doug on the water. It was our first time fly fishing and wee caught 37 fish! My wife, 14 and 17 year old son, as well as myself were catching fish once Doug was done teaching/guiding us. Highly recommend checking him out. He is like a fish whisperer!

Ive been fly fishing for a little while now, but it has always been more of a hobby than a passion of mine ... that is until I went on a float down the South Holston river with Doug from Mountain Fly Anglers as my guide last month! I caught more fish in one afternoon than I have caught in my entire fly fishing career combined.By no means am I a great angler, but for those who want statistics - lets just say we stopped counting at about 20 wild browns and rainbows - and when I looked at my watch it wasnt even noon then. Doug had em lined up for me on everything ... nymphs, dries, dry droppers ... there was a small sulphur hatch in the afternoon and I could barely land the flies before the rod tip was bent again! So needless to say we were whackin fatties ALL DAY LONG. I probably ended up catching about 35-40 native trout, but beyond that I shared a magical day at a world-class fishery with a guide who not only knew everything there was to know about what was happening on the river, but Doug was super-friendly, easy-going and an all-around class act to boot!Ive hired guides at various fisheries around the country, but Doug was without a doubt the most memorable of the bunch. He taught me plenty and inspired new confidence in my angling abilities. Ever since that trip I have a newfound respect and enthusiasm for fly fishing, and Doug played a major role in making that happen!JUST DO IT AND BOOK YOUR FLOAT TRIP WITH DOUG ... yalls can thank me later ;-)

Our guide Doug was an amazing guide for us first timers. Doug helped us pick up the sport super quickly, and was very patient in the super cold waters. Doug was super professional and made sure we got into the perfect conditions to catch some beautiful trout. We also got to tour the mountain countryside in the snow. Doug even tipped us super great spots in town to get great food and some of Ashevilles best drinks. We will definitely be going back to fish with Mountain Fly Anglers.

This fishing excursion was the highlight of my trip to North Carolina. Doug is a one of a kind guide who I cant say enough good things about. He was knowledgeable, accommodating, and funny. He took us to some of the most scenic rivers I have ever fished; and of course put us on some big, beautiful trout! As soon as I got home to Alabama I began planning a trip with my dad.

First time fly fishing. Me and my dad met up with Doug. He was on time and ready to go. It was a slow day fishing but Doug managed to help put us on some fish before the end of the day. Great guide, very knowledgeable, super friendly, and helpful. Highly recommend.

If youre lookin for a guide, Doug from Mountain Fly Anglers is your guy. He had a great attitude, was on time, was very helpful with the tangles we got ourselves into and had the best tips. He was also very patient when my wife caught a few trees. He was able to accomodate four of us with two boats. One thing I learned today, is those Solunar tables arent accurate as long as youve got a skilled guide with you. Today was supposed to be a poor fishing day according to the Solunar table but we were yanking rainbow and brown trout in left and right because of Dougs tips and guidance.I plan on taking my brother inlaw and nephew out here this fall and then my wifes parents at a later date.We had a blast and my wife was happy because this was the first time shes ever caught a fish. My wife and I had a blast with Doug this pass Sunday on a spectacular stream. It was a experience of a lifetime for us. He was able to put me on a trout my first cast and the bite didn’t stop all day. Myself and my girlfriend had an AMAZING time today 11/19/19. We hooked into several BIG trout and caught probably 25 fish total. I even hooked a massive brown trout that I fought for about 5-6 minutes but unfortunately got off at the last second, I’ll be back to get him next year. I’ll definitely be using Doug again!

Doug brought my group out on a cool mountain fall day and within the first hour of our flies hitting the water all 4 of us were catching fish. We had 2 guys that had never fished before and Doug hunkered down with them, was patient, and focused on us the whole time. He was professional and obviously knows the regions waterways and when to fish them like the back of his hand. I’ll be hitting Doug up every time we visit this beautiful part of the country.

Doug took me and my son out fly fishing, on July 9th, he picked us up on time, and supplied us with all the proper gear, including lunch. Doug was very experienced, and put us on fish quickly.
