I never write online reviews but I felt compelled to write one about Tao Massage. I was experiencing neck and shoulder pain. I had several weeks of physical therapy and was not getting any relief. My co-worker told me to go to Tao massage, specifically to see Andreas. I finally listened and booked a deep injury recovery massage. I have to admit getting a massage was out of my comfort zone. The moment I met him I felt comfortable. After talking to me for just a few minutes he made me feel relaxed and at ease. He is totally committed to healing and getting to the root of the problem. After one visit I felt immediate relief. I cancelled my physical therapy appointments and Im now a regular customer of his. His positive attitude and sense of humor is just what I needed.

My experience at Tao has been incredible. I used the float tank and even though I was fearful of the enclosed space, once I got in, well it was total relaxation. I as well did the heat before the float. The facility is beautiful inside as are the therapist and receptionist that work there. Fantastic FLOAT experience!Beautiful, luxurious and clean, Tao is a great place to get your relaxation on. I opted to float after having a deep tissue massage in hopes that it would help me quickly recover from the soreness- it worked! I wish I had known about floating while I was pregnant- I would highly recommend it anyone that is currently expecting. Not only is it a great way to take all the pressure off of your joints, the sensory reduction will help you focus on bonding with your growing baby. Bonus- fabulous beach hair from the salt water!

As I tackle every social platform for Tao Massage with gratitude, it still isn’t enough. My experience (more like a journey through my body) was impeccable. Prior, I experienced hand and stone, massage envy but this place knocks them out of the water. After my first massage it moved moons. Then, my second one came and that was something beyond words. I purchased a far infrared personal lay down sauna shell treatment. I loved it! The explanation on the web site is much more detailed than anything I could come up with - and very informative. I can attest to feeling completely and deeply relaxed. My skin felt softer and looked rejuvenated. My body simply resonated with this type of deep heat treatment.Vivians salon is a sensory delight and cleaner than any other salon/spa Ive visited. It is a comforting oasis and a lovely little personal retreat right here in the center of town.

Fantastic experience and healing for my sports related muscle soreness. I had the 60 minute DEEP Intense Relief Therapy, and RoseAnn did a fantastic job. Very nice and calming waiting room and massage room. Will definitely return.

Tao is the real deal. Ive been several times for massages and to relax in the float tank and have always been blown away. Most recently, Vivian arranged spa services for my wedding weekend at the incredible Asbury Park Inn.Umberto came to the Inn and provided half hour massages (which were probably more like 45 minutes) to each member of my wedding party. We sat around in luxurious Tao robes and drank mimosas, and the look of blissed-out relaxation on each persons face as they returned to the group was priceless.I cant thank the Tao staff enough and Im counting the days until my next visit!

I picked this location solely on reviews and I was not disappointed! We had an appointment for a couples massage, my boyfriend loved his, as did I. Umberto was FANTASTIC. He took time to speak with me about my concerns beforehand and he gave me the most in depth and restorative massage Ive ever had. I have chronic back pain and tightness from my years of doing Aerial Silks and he worked on muscles I didnt even realize needed attention.Also, the customer service is on point. Vivian is so kind; she gave us a tour of the space before, offered water and snacks, and gave us comfy shoes to wear around the spa.Definitely will be back!

I have gone to Tao Massage and Vivian since her first location (2005) and have followed her around because she has always been amazing! I love ashiatsu and how deep she can get into my knots. Vivian and her staff are great at listening to your needs or asking if you have problem areas, and then working on them. This has been particularly helpful since Ive started running longer distances. I cannot rate them high enough.

Best experience. Once you experience Ashiatsu at Tao Massage, nothing will ever compare. If you are looking to relax or find relief from muscle aches from stress, work or injuries you dont have to search anymore. Atmosphere is relaxing. Staff is wonderful. Its obvious at Tao they care about your well-being. Plus, there are plenty of other ways to make yourself feel human again. Pamper yourself at Tao, you will not be disappointed.

From the moment that you walk into Tao you are immersed in warm and soothing energy. Such a welcoming space and staff! My experience in the FLOAT Tank was transcendent. One of the best Ashiatsu massages Ive ever received. From start to finish the entire experience was immensely relaxing and wonderful. The entire staff from owner Vivian and therapist Roseanne to the reception staff were both professional and friendly. And to top it all off it is incredibly reasonable too! Cannot recommend this place enough...you have to become a regular immediately!!!

This is a 2-part review: One for the Services and Staff, Two for the Policies and Procedure. My Star Rating represents the average of these 2 parts.In presenting the layout and the services available, Ivy was thorough and extremely attentive to both me and my husband. He and I were both scheduled for the float and the sauna shell. I added the massage later when Ivy asked me if I wanted a massage before she let Umberto go home. My husband insisted I get one and though I balked a little :), I added the massage. It was our first float as well as our first sauna shell. She explained everything and put our minds at ease (in regards to the float). The sauna had my skin glowing, and I dont fully have the words to explain the float. If I have to describe it in one word: AMAZING!!!Umberto delivered one of the best Deep Tissue Massages Ive ever had. & I was not sore in the least the following day (though I had lots of water and stretched a lot).So to this point, all in all, I would rate Tao as a 5 star business. The only problem to this point was that my husband could not fit on the table that housed the Infrared Sauna Shell. Apparently there were no suggestions as to how he could fit, so he opted out, got dressed, and proceeded to wait for just about 2 hours for me to finish with my services.Needless to say, I was super lax and a bit out of it by the time of check out. I was not asked to sign a check total and was not shown my final balance but asked if I would be emailed a receipt. I was told, Yes. Well I was not sent a receipt showing the total balance but I was sent four (4) Thank You, Please Review emails that simply showed everything we were booked for including the last minute scheduled massage, but no final bill detailing taxes and such.So I called later to inquire as to the total amount billed and was told, $293 and some change. After I hung up I realized I was still charged for the service that my husband could not utilize. I had to call backto ask why I had been charged for that. I was told that he could have an additional 30 minutes added to his float upon his return next month. I said that didnt work for me that I would rather cancel the previous charge and rerun my card with the appropriate charges. The owner was to be consulted to tell me of HER decision, not MY preference.The following day, the busy owner and staff could not be bothered to call me with their decision. Instead I received an incredibly long text message (4 text paragraphs) that in a nutshell stated that --before her appointment (with presumably a more important client & at 2pm in the afternoon) Vivian said she would give my husband an extra half hour free float since he didnt stay in the sauna (as if he got in, could fit, and just decided to get out). She did the same for someone that didnt stay in the float tank, she gave them a half hour sauna, and I quote, cause they like that better. Is anybody listening? HE IS TOO TALL TO ENJOY THE SERVICE. It was not a matter of him liking or not liking it better. Here I quote again, Makes things easier than having to adjust the credit card situation. ...I look forward to seeing you again next month. Really?I am disputing the $35 charge to my credit card company. I spent a fair amount so seriously you have to question a business when they are too interested in making things easier on themselves instead of listening to a client that simply wants dispute resolution. Now Im fighting the charge on principle. Whats worse is that before I received the text, I had referred 4 of my friends - gave them a brochure/website and everything. I had plans to tell everyone I knew. Not so much now.

As a seasoned professional exercise instructor since 2006, I am not immune to occasionally pulling muscles and developing strains associated with rigorous teaching and training. However, after a tune-up maintenance session with Vivian, three days later, I am refreshed, restored and thoroughly bounced back: not to mention pain-free!

The Float was just what I needed after an injury this week. It recharged me and helped me take my mind off constant pain. Everyone is so nice and the space is spectacular. Highly recommended.

Prices were very fair and the website is so well designed each service is thoroughly described and explained. Tao has street parking directly in front or public free parking on block over.The ambiance was soothing, quiet, and comfortable. I instantly felt at peace. Vivian took me for a tour of the studio. It is a gorgeous, relaxing space that combines geometric shapes, tactile fabrics and soothing colors into one unforgettably designed studio. We discussed my problem areas and the pressure I was comfortable with, ( And I might add Vivian was quite thorough and took her time understanding my personal physical conditions) and before I knew it, we were 30 minutes in and every second was pure bliss! I honestly left Tao feeling like I have a brand new set of shoulders, back and neck.  And I also left with the clearest relaxed state of mind.Vivian has taught me that massage is not just for feeling prissy and pampered, it is a vital part of general, day to day, good healthy living.  I will no longer think of a massage as a treat to myself, it is truly a necessary part of trying to be of healthy mind and body. I had a facial with Laraine. I have had facials in the past, with products marketed for sensitive skin. Well, I still walked away with a rash- not this time. This is the probably the second time in my life Ive ever felt moved to write a review for a business on Google. Ive been everywhere from Milagro to The Mirage in Las Vegas in search of the perfect massage but it is to be found right here in Asbury Park. While most massage therapists crap out after about 45 minutes, Taos therapists give you the full hour or hour and half you paid for. Its no mistake theyre located on Bangs Avenue, this place definitely gives you the most bang for your buck. And the new space is stunning! Like a small bit of heaven...the color of the walls, the lush organic blankets and sheets, it even smells delightful. You immediately feel pampered, relaxed and completely at peace. And that place is so clean that you could eat off the floor. I also like that its located in downtown AP -- theres about a zillion gourmet restaurants you can go to afterwards to complete your afternoon of self-care.I love going alone to get massaged but one of my favorite experiences was getting a couples massage with my husband. It was outstanding. They made us feel so comfortable and we had a blast. I cant wait to try the float tank. I really love this place. Once you go Tao, you never go back!

Being a Microbiologist I very much appreciate the Removal of shoes before entering policy. I believe the best features that set TaoMassage apart from others are: Communication, Hospitality, Personal-ness (it is a word now!!), Professionalism and Comfort. I am new to this area and havent been actively looking for a location for massage therapy, but when my girlfriends Grandmother passed I began to search. Like most, I rely on Google for most things but (if this makes any sense) truly rely on word-of-mouth experiences. I looked at over 10 different Spas, resorts and even considered traveling to AC. Tao was about the 15th result on my google local search but the reviews were what really stood out to me. NOT ONE NEGATIVE REVIEW and they all glorified the ambiance, environment & staff. After my experience, I can agree the ambiance, the placidity and tranquil feeling of comfort you get as soon as you remove your shoes and enter is something that is lost in this time of instantaneous-ness (also, a word now!). We were treated by Desiree and Andreas. Desiree is a poet with her elbows, hands and forearms! I told my girlfriend that when we go back she wont be getting another massage from Andreas, she raved about it all night! What really impressed me was their knowledge on anatomical compensation and how to utilize special techniques to begin the reversal. I hated anatomy but after hearing my lady talk about his techniques for 12hrs.... Im considering digging out some of my old books. I can easily say I will be going back monthly or bi weekly and have already began to refer them to the people I know in the area.

About a year ago I started to worry something was very wrong with my lower back. I typically take long (4 - 5 mile) walks with my dog and it was killing me to do that. It hurt to sit at my desk all day. It hurt to stand. I was in pain laying down in bed at night. I dont like meds so I decided I would try acupuncture. When I got to the office, I had a consult with a chiro. Referred by a friend, I didnt realize I was going to a Chiropractors office. They began by evaluating me, putting me in physical therapy and adjusting me. After 3 months, 2x a week (they wanted me there 3 days/wk), my back would still be on fire at night. I got tired of going and I started to feel like no one was listening at all. They had an office full of people and what basically amounted to a revolving door. While I am certain it worked for other people, it just wasnt for me.FINALLY, I booked the appointment with Roseanne having been to her before and liking her style of massage. She sat and listened as I explained my pain as best I could. Following my explanation, she used a full hour to concentrate on the one area in my lower back. She spent the time asking questions, asking me to be vocal about each spot she touched so she could be precise with the pressure she applied and time spent on the area. After an hour, with the face cradle LITERALLY leaving on outline on my face LOLOL...I was fixed and I have been ever since. Roseanne assigned me a few stretches to do at home when I feel tension, which have also been a great help! Needless to say I will be back. Often. I will also tell everyone I know how amazing you all are.I really appreciate your staff. I was so nervous I was having a major medical issue and that a regular doctor would prescribe me meds. Thank you so much for being here for me!!!! Keep doing what you do.
