Dishonest shop. I took my car in for vibration issues. They never fixed the vibration issues and claim theres nothing wrong with it. However they noticed I had a leaky CV Boot on my axle. Instead of replacing the CV Boot for $20, they changed out the entire axle for $370.

Ive been going to this auto shop for decades. They are honest about what can or should be done. Prices are fair. Work is completed in a timely way. The guys up front are helpful and friendly. Scott has managed this location / office for years, and knows regulars by name. Recommended.

Service was fast and efficient. My only concern, especially for older customers, is that none of the staff wear masks during this Covid epidemic and despite the governors recent order.

Got an oil change last Thursday. After being told they couldn’t help me with an alignment, and tire rotation. I just got the oil change since it was the only thing they could fix on my vehicle. Oil change was quick but car started overheating about 20 minutes after I left the shop. If you have the time to find a garage w trusted employees I suggest you do so because I’ve never had a leak, overheating problem, let alone a problem with the oil before I got my oil change done here. Tried to talk on the phone with Scott the manager only to be rudely told to do some research and that he and his employees had no fault before hearing what I had to say. Along w a rude voicemail left restating that I have no idea what I’m talking about. The most unprofessional management I’ve seen thus far.

This is the only place that can consistently and properly align lifted vehicles. They have done great work and have given me competitive prices. I get all my tires for jeep, truck, trailer and family cars here.Occasionally they can be rude on the phone but what can you do..

I made an appointment online to get my oil changed. When I walked in the door I was greeted by name. Complete time from entering to driving away was probably less than 20 minutes. Everyone is always friendly and professional.

On a road trip in our Class B RV and got a flat. These guys got us all fixed up. Very nice people and also quick service. Great experience.

Ive been coming here for about two years for all my basic automotive needs. Oil changes, tires, brakes and I have never had an issue and the price seems fair, especially for oil changes. Staff is friendly and seems to recommend service that is actually needed. Ive been in a few situations where they definitely could have convinced me I needed service, but they did not take advantage.

My family and I were road tripping up the 101 from LA to the Bay, and our front left tire was leaking - these heroes discovered that it I simply had a leaky valve and fixed it for free. A dishonest crew could have easily scammed me by saying a had a faulty tire or needed a patch. These guys are great! Thanks SM Tire :)

I noticed my tire was hissing one night and instead of waiting, I drove it straight to SM tires and parked it in the parking lot so that way we could avoid the whole spare tire headache! I called first thing in the morning and the associate said “it’s all patched and ready for pickup”! I couldn’t believe they would take the inniciative to do that without even knowing who’s car it was. The surprises continued when I arrived, the associate (wish I had gotten his name) didn’t even charge and just handed me my $0 receipt and said happy thanksgiving. He made my day and I can’t thank them enough for all their kind service and quality work!

I would not recommend the Arroyo Grande store to anyone. I was passing thru that area this past week, heading home to Washington state after spending a long four months in San Diego on a job. I picked up a nail in my front drivers side tire, and I stopped in that town for the night, and figured I would get my tire repaired in the morning.I looked online for tire stores, and this was the closest to the hotel that I was staying at. When I first arrived at the store the guy inside seemed friendly, with the exception that he never looks at you when hes talking to you. But anyways, they took my tire off and within about thirty seconds the mechanic came up and talked to the guy at the counter and then walked off. It was a few minutes later that the guy at the counter then tells me they cant repair my tire, claiming the nail is in the shoulder of the tire. He then proceeded to give me a bunch of lip service of how legally they couldnt repair the tire, and blah, blah, blah... Even though I know I have had tires repaired in the past that had gotten a nail in this very same spot. He seemed more interested in trying to sell me a new tire, for $180 bucks. Of course I wasnt interested in that, because these tires were only four months old.Anyways, I eventually came across another store up the road a little ways called The Tire Store, and they asked if SM Tires ever actually took the tire off the rim and looked at it, because you really cant tell anything if you dont. Well they did not. These guys at the tire store were awesome, they took my tire off, checked it out and were actually able to patch the tire, and they did it all in about 15 minutes. They told me that now I could wait until I got home to order a new tire at my leisure if I wanted to. The tire not only got me home, but its still holding up just fine.I would say if anyone reads this, and you are looking for tire service or repairs, just save yourself some time and go to The Tire Store in San Luis Obispo, because they will treat you right and not try to take advantage of you... And better yet, they actually look you in the eye when they are talking to you.
