We had such a great experience Professor Johnson is the best! After her session with my Grandson we decided to enroll him in Brazilian Ji Jitsu!

We went for a first time try out class and my child’s heart was broken. I wished in advanced I would of been warned that not every child is “ready” for this classes. My son was only asked to say yes ma”am or yes sir and since he was not quick to follow instructions she immediately took us to a room and said he wasn’t ready for this classes. Total waste of my time.

We love the values and skills that the team at Waugh Jiu-Jitsu are teaching our sons (ages 6 & 7). Our 7 year old has a hard time dealing with his ADHD but since starting at Waugh over a year ago, we have seen a difference in his ability to control and regulate himself as well as manners, leadership, and kindness.

I had a great experience at their womens self defense class. Definitely looking in to signing up for a membership! Master Waugh is awesome. I can tell his whole heart is in it and the whole team was so helpful with breaking down the moves for us and coaching us along the way.

I have known Mr. Waugh for over 20 years. He is a martial artist of the highest order. His ability as a martial artist is only exceeded by his character and ability as an instructor, and I have the utmost confidence in his methods and teaching. My family and I joined back in 2007 and it has been by far the best decision that we have all made! Master Waugh has not only became my instructor but my mentor as well. Not only does he teach you Jiu Jitsu but he teaches you about aspects of life too. He teaches at a tempo everyone can keep up on and make sure no one gets left behind. The academy is always clean and theres a space for you to put your things instead of all spread out in a room. Waugh Jiu Jitsu Academy is one of the best places to train and everyone should try it out!

My six year old son has been going there since last October and we can already see the positive influence this has had on him. Like most six year olds, he is a path of least effort (lazy) kid, but the folks here understand children and know how to light a fire under them in a way that gets results (for my kid). My family is pleased overall.

Waugh Jiu-Jitsu Academy has truly been a blessing for my daughter Karen. In just a short period of time I have seen a remarkable increase in her self-esteem and confidence. I love the curriculum and the approach to training, the classes are education based so you don’t have to roll if you don’t want to which I like because some of the other gyms I’ve been to make you roll even if you don’t know anything (kinda pointless) but all in all they have a very methodical approach to Jiu-Jitsu.

We brought our son to a few other martial arts studios before finding Waugh Jiu Jitsu Academy. As soon as we stepped in, we were immediately greeted with positive vibes that drew us to sign up before the end of the day. The instructors tailor to every student and their needs all while conducting an organized respected class.The only reason why I give it four stars is because there is always room for improvement: I dont completely agree with the way the belts are earned by showing up and more discipline could be implemented. However, they do provide one of the most encouraging environments. My partner even says that she feels like she’s been through a spiritual counseling by the time she leaves.All in all, we absolutely love the academy. We can see it in our sons eyes that Master Waugh is not just his instructor, but a mentor. This is more than just another Jiu Jitsu academy; its a family.

I was looking for a great jiu-jitsu academy for my son to start taking lessons. He has never taken any kind of martial arts and I was unsure where to begin. I was recommended to Advantage Jiu-Jitsu by a friend. My friend said this is the only place he would consider sending his kid, my friend even trained with the Gracie family. ;) So you know this has to be a great academy! I can see why he recommended this academy. :) Master Waugh is great with the students! The academy will give you a free lesson to try and see if you are insterested in their Academy. Master Waugh teaches the students self-discipline, respect for yourself and others as well as many other valuable qualities. I can already see little changes in my sons behavior in regards to becoming more confident in himself and he is on the road to becoming more assertive and hopefully a great leader to others.

Waugh Jiu Jitsu is a fantastic academy to train Jiu Jitsu. Master Waugh is an excellent martial arts instructor, having trained many martial arts over the years. At the academy, the students train in ground grappling, stand up striking, and self-defense escapes. Master Waughs emphasis is on real world street defense situations, as opposed to just learning techniques to win a tournament. There is also the opportunity to learn leadership principles that carry over into every day situations at work or with the family. The academy is a very warm and friendly environment where the goal is not to beat up other people, but instead, build up the students to be better people overall. Having trained at other martial arts academys in the past, Ive found that the training program at Waugh Jiu Jitsu is much more thorough and organized than other schools, which keeps the training fun and challenging as you advance through the ranks. I highly recommend training at Waugh Jiu Jitsu.

We entered Waugh jiujitsu with apprehension and excitement at the same time.After reviewing two other academies free trial program I was beginning to think MMA or martial arts may be something we would have to wait enrolling my then nine year old son into.After witnessing one unorganized dirty academy, to another ultra violent academy that encouraged the students to fight, we, were getting weary, to say the least.At Waugh jiujitsu, they soon put us at ease .We felt right at home immediately.The first class went well, and my son said this was where he wanted to train.I am happy to write this review for the academy. THIS IS TOP NOTCH JIUJITSU!.Master Waugh is a 4th degree black belt, under Grand Master: Carlos Machado.Master Machado has trained several celebrities, HELLO CHUCK NORRIS!The pedigree is definitely there!Waugh jiujitsu not only teaches outstanding, functional jiujitsu in a traditional manner, but demonstrates caring for what they affectionately call the family. Your children, OR YOU will receive training from what I would define as an Ivy league caliber academy.Waugh jiujitsu teaches its students to be respectful at the academy, and everywhere else life takes them. Great school, my children, nephew, and I have been training here for the last two years. The academy just recently change the name from Advantage to Waugh Jiu Jitsu. Confused about a previous negative review as we dont teach tae kwon do and our instructor is a 3rd degree black in jiu jitsu under the legendary 8th degree Coral belt Carlos Machado. Honest mistake Im sure.

Could not be happier. Great place, great folks.
