Drop my car off on short notice Monday, luckily I had good timing. Needed a bumper, grill, and driver side headlight. They finished before the weekend. Friday evening I got it :)Checked everything, the car was detailed, paint looked great, super happy, but turns out they forgot to replace a cover under the hood. I mentioned it and the took care of me immediately. A couple clips later, on my way..Very kind and mostly friendly my whole experience. I’d recommend them to anyone looking for good, quality service.
They fixed my tire and got me back on the road really quickly!
Nice guy. Very personable & positive. He kind of cheered me up. 2 👍👍 UP!
Excellent service, friendly crew, and reasonable prices! Came here once for a second opinion. They were much cheaper and Ive stuck with them since! Recognized regulars and will give you a ride to and from a reasonable distance. Can usually squeeze in both maintenance and a look at any last-minute issues. No complaints!
Horrible customer service, everyone in this place is rude to their customers whether their on the road or in the office, I’ve dealt with both tonight in person on the road and on the phone with the woman in the office
What an amazing local shop. They have been in business for many years. Mal is the owner and his sons run the business. It is a very fair and honest business. They are always busy and you may have to wait but that is due to the great quality of the place. They will always tell you exactly whats wrong with the car and what you need. You will not be disappointed with the end result. Just be patient.
Rude & slow service. Expect to be snapped & complained at if you get service here.
Got me in to plug a tire on a Saturday morning
Good service
Great service
“Hello I’ll be right with you”, “of course, please take your time”, “oh I will”... I should have left then and not wasted anymore of my time. The follow up was nonstop drama about being so busy (even though i was the only one in line for an inspection?) and then the clerk started literally screaming at me when I suggested that I’d walk one block home while they did my inspection. Well no thank you, I will go elsewhere.
If you have a choice, dont choose Mals.I needed a new bumper after an accident, and since Mal’s repair shop on Massachusetts Avenue in Lexington is on my insurance company’s approved list, and is convenient to my home, I took the car in for repair on a Monday, and mentioned that I would be paying by credit card when I picked the car up. It was promised to be ready by the following Thursday at 4PM. Having heard nothing on Thursday, I called and was told it wouldn’t be ready until the following day at 4PM. I called at 4PM and was told it wouldn’t be ready until 4:45PM. When I arrived at Mal’s, I offered my credit card, and was told “cash only” was the company’s policy. They close at 5PM. The amount due was $1100 which I did not have immediate access to in cash, and could not get until the following morning (Saturday). Then I was told that Mal’s is not open over the weekend.Had I known that Mal’s is a cash-only business, I would have chosen a different approved repair center that was not. Mal’s is a major towing and repair company. Refusal to take credit cards from individual customers is a outdated and customer-unfriendly business policy that is difficult for me to understand in this day and age. I presented the cash to Mal’s on Monday morning and picked up my car.Our insurance rental was from Enterprise, and apparently when they called Mal’s on Thursday to see if the car was ready, they were told by Mal’s that our car was no longer there, so Enterprise was prepared to charge us for four days rental, which wouldn’t be covered by insurance because of the misinformation provided to them by Mal’s. I called my insurance company and explained the situation, and they waived the four day charge.Long story short, choose another repair shop if you have an accident.UPDATE: There is now a rattle in the area of the bumper that was replaced by Mals. The rattle was not there before Mals replaced the bumper. Also, I received a letter from Mal Jr. (in response to my Google review) attempting to explain his companys poor performance. I was not impressed. Again, if you have a choice, dont choose Mals.
Honest and does great work.. This is a family business that I started going to a few years ago for tires and now I get my repairs and recently body work done. Theyre prices are fair and you get top quality work done. I think the least tenured mechanic is 5 years with the others being there for 20 or so....i just recently got my brakes done and sprung for the ceramic pads etc. And Im glad I did.... Ive gotten brakes done in the past and it doesnt take long for the rotors to warp... So far so good... On a side note I would definitely go there for tires... I got the nice set of michelin for a fraction of of what the dealership and other places were charging... I would definitely recommend this place and Mal gives back to the community which I always like to see...
Mals truck first almost hit my car, then blocked me in the middle of the street. When I confronted the driver, he said get the f*ck out of my face, I mean you. Shame on you, the Mals driver whose plate number was 26N.
Inefficient, uncommunicative, and apparently no communication between employees either, or they dont know enough about their own policies to tell the rest of us what we have to do when we call in to make arrangements. The people at Mals expect us to figure it out for ourselves and at our expense.Car towed into Mals Thursday night after an accident. Tried to make an appointment to get it out on Saturday morning but was informed no one would be there on Saturday (website says open to 3 pm Saturday). Called Monday, and was told yard is actually open 10 to 12 on Saturday. Got there at 4 Tuesday after work and was told yard closes at 4 (website says open to 5). In the course of negotiating with them, we must have called them six times over the week, were given a very specific sum of charges at time of removal, etc, and only after our own AAA guy finally got in to extract the car on Thursday did they tell us there was another $108 to enter the yard.Any of these contingencies (charges, hours of operation, etc) would be perfectly reasonable if they were to tell us clearly in the first phone call.
Absolutely the best auto repair around. I drive 45 minutes just to take it there
Joe from Mals was so kind and helpful in assisting me with a lock-out! Im so grateful for his kind, quick support in the freezing weather. Very great experience!
The best crew! They have the best customer service and always make sure to have my car done when they say they will and I always get a fair price.
After my daughter had an accident, her car was towed to Mals in Lexington. The staff was courteous and very knowledgeable. They helped us through the process when it was totaled by the insurance company and had to be salvaged. Without the guidance from the staff, we would have been at the mercy of the insurance company and would not have known about the options and rights we had. Luckily there were no injuries, just a car that needed to be replaced. Will recommend Mals to anyone who needs a reliable and trustworthy mechanic.
Thank you Mals for fixing my vehicles. Theres nothing like a family owned business for that personal touch. It says a lot that so many of your employees have been with you for so many years. Youre wonderful people.
First timer, I was in a pinch, needed a tire, they had it in stock got me in and out within an hour, changed my tire and noticed that I needed an inspection sticker and offered to do that on the spot, very accommodating and friendly. Decent size garage that does a lot of business and the waiting room is air conditioned and clean.
Do yourself a favor and never go here. The staff was rude to me and told me I had a problem with my tire. When I took it to another mechanic I trust, they told me there was no problem.I then called Mals to make it right and they refused to rectify the situation and then hung up on me.To summarize, these folks are incompetent, rude and treat customers like garbage. If you value your car dont ever go to Mals (mal is Spanish for bad, which is a perfect name for these incompetent jokers)
Non stop complaints and swearing about being too busy. Finally went elsewhere for a quick mass inspection and no drama.
AVOID. They took 8 weeks to fix my vehicle after an accident. After the insurance company stopped paying rental costs, Mals refused to assist with the additional cost. They still had my car. Never use them again.
Mals towing was called after I slid into a snow bank, car was still operational and I was fine. They pulled me out after being called by whoever, not me, I had AAA. They did not accept AAA and the driver held my car hostage for $140, no car until paid. Im sure there would have been storage fees as well. Driver was rude, miserable, and angry. Never call them, ever. I would have shoveled the car out if I had known, again I NEVER called them. Can you rate ZERO STARS?
They put the wrong size tires on my car which, I was told by another place, caused permanent damage to my wheel wells. When I scheduled a follow up appointment to fix the problem, they scheduled me for a time BEFORE THE SHOP OPENED. So I went back, I arrived 40 minutes before the shop was even open for the day and had to wait until they showed up- late- to finally fix the situation. They put my new(/correctly sized) tires on and completely ignored me when I tried to ask questions at the end of the appointment. I am amazed by the positive reviews on here.
Got a new battery there. First time every using them. Very courteous. They changed the battery quickly and had me going in less than 1/2 hour. Felt like a pit stop.Long story:We were borrowing my mother-in-laws car while my wifes car is at the dealer for warranty service. It is a major issue that is going to take a few days. Of course, the dealer had no loaners available, hence the borrowed car.We got the car the night before from my in-laws house. Had to jump start it because it had been sitting for a while, as the in-laws go south for the winter. Took the car for a long drive to charge the battery. Next day, car wont start. The battery did not hold the charge, and needed to be replaced. To make matters worse, I cant open the hood to jump start the car.I called MALs to see if they could open the hood and if not, tow the car to the shop. While I was waiting for the truck, I kept trying to hood release and was finally able to release the hood. Got a jump, called back and to cancel the truck. The dispatcher was very pleasant and told me that it wasnt a problem. With the car started, I could have gone anywhere, but I decided to stick with MALs. I had a hard deadline and figured that I was going to be tied up for the rest of the day, or have to leave the car to pick-up the next morning. As soon as I got there, the mechanic pulled in the car tested the battery and electrical system He replaced the battery, then checked the oil, topping up coolant, and filling the tires with air. Like old time service station service. The extras were all done N/C.The mechanic finished the job before the order was even written up. Paid, left, and had no problem making my deadline. Great service.
Everyone working there is awesome and knows their stuff
RIP off they sell u stuff u dont need.
Terrible service. We had a CV axle break and since Mals did towing, we thought wed just have them replace it. They damaged the axle seal in the transaxle, causing it to leak fluid. When we noticed, we questioned Mals about the fluid on the bottom of the chassis but they insisted it was just penetrating fluid that they sprayed, as if it would all still be freshly dripping. During the disassembly to replace the axle, they also ripped the ball joint boot which I just had recently replaced (the other side’s was fine). They did not tell us about this. Finally, they upsold us on a subframe, insisting that it was severely rusted, would fail, and cause the engine to fall out. The subframe was not even that rusted. Huge waste of time and money.
Great customer service, excellent price, and they even noticed my rmv sticker was up this month, so they saved me a separate trip.
Took great care of us
Love this place!
The best
