Laid out real nice. Plenty of signs to let you know what to do. Everybody seems knowledgeable.
Great place. Easy to use if you think a bit ahead of going there. Presort your stuff. Metal, construction debris, recycle, cardboard, household garbage, electronics, appliances, oil, paint, batteries. Then when you get there you can quickly pull what you need for the bins quickly. Saturday and Sunday always busy. Electronics, hazardous waste shuts down early 4 pm I think. Other stuff your good until 7 pm weekdays. Plenty of time and low lines during the weekdays. The workers are mostly all great. Wade is a great guy there. Always helpful and keeps the lanes moving and clean.
I heard from a neighbor that on 9/5/20 an employee charged them $10-$15 for having too many cardboard boxes and wanted the cash given to him through the residents tailgate rather than the window. Im including a one star rating so perhaps a manager will address this. I was not aware of any extra fees for Wake County residents bringing their own recyclables to the landfill.
Absolutely the worst place in the world twiceI set in line for 2 hours each time. I really hate this place very unorganized the long lines and wait time is killing small companies
Great site! Those that post about houses being too close and smelling some odor .... well, no one made you buy that house! I don’t like living on a busy street BUT I bought the house without knowing it would be a through street. My fault for not checking the future plans. I love being able to take my oil, big recyclables, etc to this nice facility. It’s clean and well organized.
Been to this location several times in the 6 years I have lived in Apex. Always friendly and helpful. Usually in and out relatively fast. Thankful it’s there to help homeowners like me to clean house.
Anybody who has never been there before it is going to be a bit of a search if you have a lot of different things. Overall it looks like they have an incredibly organized system which is probably the best Ive ever seen. Being that I do construction I go to landfills and recycling centers often so thats saying something. 10 out of 10 recommend and I support what they are doing to keep harmful things out of the landfill.
It was alright, staff werent very clear when giving directions and they confused themselves.
Convenient! Weve taken most of the debris from our remodel there and 9 times out of 10 theres been no line at all. Week days are better than weekends if you can.
Well laid out. Easy in and out. Bins for all types of waste and recycling.
Unfortunately the area has outgrown the location of this landfill far in advance of the City’s expectations. City planners and/or developers have allowed businesses and homes to be developed too close to the landfill and the site seems to be unable to mange the smells effectively. It’s time to close this site and move it away from people.
Good staff, service and location. LONG LINES on Saturday. Can sit out on Highway 55 in one long line for hours. Slow moving into facility. Some cars even come off 540 and think they have to get in line just to get on 55.
One of the employees told me to throw a mattress into the dumpster just so, and proceeded to complain about how I didnt listen to him, and that I was making his job hard when I chucked the mattress into the hole. Sir, you stand there and operate electricly powered trash compactors via push -button.
Very good customer service. Fast, Friendly, efficient.
Very helpful staff who keep the lines moving. Convenient access. Hopefully they continue expanding! Thank you the value you provide for the community!
For all whiners complaining about time and hours... make the time yourself ! They are open on Saturdays for those working 8-5 weekdays. The people working in there are too nice, period. I am sure will stop by again with a box of donuts and a couple gallons of ice tea. Those folks are hard workers !So I went there, today (05/18/2018), on a rainy day, no big lines, parked my truck and unloaded.. and still helped two other people finish their loads. I had a load of scrap wood and removed shingles from a kids playground house. Dump that on the convenience center, will be on your left as soon as you reach the place. There are also bins to accept gently used books and clothes. This is a nice feature I had no idea. Coincidently, I also had 6 books I was going to take to the office break room, but I decided for the donation as some were good novels for school.Like I said, make the time yourself.
1st day on the job ... new environment good people
Be careful when you go because not all parts have the same hours of operations. At least twice theyve closed prior to posted closing time. Smells terrible frequently on various Holly Springs greenways, at veterans and jones park plus nearby schools/daycares.
The correct address is 6300 Old Smithfield Rd, Apex NC 27539
Your trash has got to go somewhere and these people are under appreciated hero’s in fact last I heard tours are given check the schedule get your kids and learn something it’s part of a functional society i think they do a great job thank each of you at wake landfill
These guys are the best. The county does not pay them the most (all of us customers may make more) so they are putting themselves on the line for all residents of this area (always helpful to move heavy items and let us know when the items we have need to go elsewhere); hard work by hard working men (we need more of that today !)
Years of lies about the smell.
Strong help great site looking for trash around house just so I can dump again!!!!!!
I never thought Id say I enjoyed a trip to the landfill, but everyone there was nice, polite and helpful and the place is laid out well and tidy. Good job, and thanks for a pleasant experience.
Im very impressed with the fact that the South Wake Landfill has its own electric power plant on site - powered by the methane produced by the buried debris. This electricity is fed back into the grid and actually makes money for the landfill.
They are so helpful there
Love the NEW set up.....but when are you going to open the rest of it with the new part ? and when are you going to fix the hours ??The PEOPLE of the community who use it, 75 % work the 9-5 get off work bout 6 and leaves no time to be at the landfill before it closes during the week. This leaving most everyone (people - not business) who use the land fill only the weekend hours. Then to top it off, the part takes in oil, tvs etc section closes at 4 pm with no chance for the people to use it; except saturday; without getting off work early or missing a day.It sums it up that the landfill open hours only works with the businesses that use it ??
They are always nice and friendly
Check the hours closely. Only household items you can be dropped from 7-4. Appliances, oil, hazardous materials, tires - the stuff I drive there for - is only open 8-4. Very inconvenient if you have to work and frustrating. It would not take a lot to have one employee assigned to validate drop off of those materials from 7-8.
We have always received excellent service from the crews.
In the winter it closes at 4pm. Website hours do not update for this.
Website says open at 7 yet they only accept old appliance at 8? Had to stay and wait for an hour. What a stupid hour of operation
Long lines but helpful staff.
Agreed, needs to be open longer hours.
Fix the stupid hours.
Trash makes jobs!!!
