Most dysfunctional place I have ever worked! The PSS training was great but working there was a huge disappointment. The pay is ridiculously low and there was a lack of good management. The technology they use is 20+ years old. The building was in great need of multiple repairs. The staff constantly complained about their jobs which created an overall very negative environment. The wellness centers have video cameras in every room, so you are on constant surveillance. There were scandalous stories I learned by both staff and peers, some were regarding the current CEO. There is a lot of nepotism and favoritism going on in this company. These wellness centers are basically adult daycares where the peers have very little say in the activities they want to do or even what they prefer to eat. We had very poor numbers of peers showing up. There is a huge lack of communication within Nazcare & constant micromanagement instead of good management. There was also zero work/home balance. Not a place I’d recommend to work or go to as a peer. You deserve better!
I applied for a job there some time ago. I had just received my peer support certificate, but I had a lot of experience working with mentally ill clients and I was only one class away from getting an AA Degree in Social Work. They asked me back for a second interview, and the woman who interviewed me by computer had a major attitude problem. She kept rolling her eyes and sighing as if I was wasting her time. She asked me to do a computer test and a typing test, and my typing speed is about 60 words per minute, but the computer I had to use had at least three keys that were sticking and I didnt know if I pressed them or not so I touched them again. They asked me back for another interview. The morning of that interview, I was all ready to go and was about to leave when they called me to say they cancelled it. If they knew they were going to cancel, why didnt they call me the day before? The upper management is clearly out of touch, not only with interviewees, but it was obvious with employees as well. I went on to get a job with another company in which upper management actually values their employees. This company is a joke. Dont waste your time at Rising Star-Apache Junction, AZ.
I have been going to Rising Star for 4 years. They recently let go of the most amazing peer lead. She took care of all of the peers and the center was in a better place than it had been in a long time. I have seen so many staff come and go. They have a high turnover, all of us peers got used to these new staff members that had been around for 6 or more months, and the company fired them for no good reason. We are all distraught over this new firing. She fed us well, gave us good incentives, talked to us, cared about our well being. Now, the food is horrible and barely enough to feed us all. They have put us on a vegan meal plan. The staff currently in charge is not adequate or accommodating to our needs. I want to leave this wellness center, but I worry about the well being of other peers. This company is money hungry and power hungry. Do not go to this support group. They are horrible to their staff.
The staff is professional and very helpful.
