We absolutely loved this gem in the desert… they are not modern or any sort of “up to date” with how they run things… and it’s absolutely perfect that way. They are great people who know their horses and the land they trail ride on. Full of so much knowledge about Arizona and the land around. We cannot wait to come back and take on superstitious mountain!
We had a fantastic time! Josh was our guide for our one hour tour. My wife rode Ace and I was on Hammer. Both horses were great. It was pretty much my first time on a horse and Josh and Hammer made it easy for me.Josh taught us a lot about the area and the Superstition Mountains, all very interesting. The only bummer was that the photos of both of us on the horses didn’t turn out because they were out of focus, but I don’t blame them for that because just being able to take a picture on horseback is difficult enough.Afterwards, we went to the nearby ghost town, which we highly recommend as well. The one-hour tour at 9a in May was the perfect length for us. We were getting pretty toasty by the end, but we got to see a lot and got the hang of riding the horses.
My family rode the 10:00am 1 hour trail with guide, Denny, and we had an AMAZING time! You cant beat the dessert scenery as well as the mountains, and we learned a little history about the area, too! Josh and the others were super friendly, returned my phone call the same day when I made reservations. We will definitely be back next time we visit from Wisconsin!
The Ride was awesome as was our guide James. He joked and told us about the desert and the stories about Ron, Jesse and Josh Feldman and their search for the Lost Dutchman. We had seen a documentary and did not realize that is who we signed up with for the ride so it was awesome! there were 4 in our party and we were all over 50 and not experienced riders but they took great care of all of us. The gift shop was a must stop and I would recommend buying at least one the books! Great read!
Dont go anywhere else for horseback riding. These guys are the best. Beautiful horses and fun knowledgeable guides. We had a last minute urge to ride and they were able to accommodate our large group without any trouble. The ride is very easy for newbies and the scenery is beautiful and peaceful. We will definitely be back in the future. If you go anywhere else, your lose.
I cant speak highly enough about this group. My family and friends visited today comprised of 4 young kids and 2 adults. The guides were amazing. They helped all of us feel comfortable with easy to understand rules and escorts for our 3 kids who were under 8. Hank Frank and Josh were personable, engaging, and even a little funny. The cost was affordable and was a great value. As I looked around there were many horses and all of them were well cared for. While Im not experienced the operation was clearly well run and established with professionals supporting experienced family operators.
Took our Girl Scout troop here and it was perfect! Nice long ride with just enough ups and downs on the terrain to keep it interesting. Our guides were friendly and entertained us with fun desert facts and cowboy anecdotes. They gave good directions and made sure everyone knew what to do, kept on the girls to make sure they were doing what they were supposed to. The horses seemed happy and well kept and you really cant beat the views of the Superstition Mountains!
My wife and I recently paid a visit to the O.K. Corral Stables to do some horse back riding. We were vacationing in the area and were looking for a great experience to take in the great Phoenix desert. Our guide Nicole was amazing. She made you feel quite comfortable and was great for conversation during the trail ride. They make sure you are comfortable with a horse and pair you with one that suits your size and riding experience. If you want a great experience to take in the desert and all its beauty we definitely recommend O.K. Corral!
Fantastic 1 hour ride with beautiful scenery of the Superstition Mountains, all types of cactus and lots of sunshine. It was a chilly 50 degrees with wind in late december but it didnt damper our enthusiasm at all. Definitely looking to try the all day excursion up the mountain someday. Our 9 year old son had no issues riding Molly Mare for an entire hour and that was his first time riding a horse.
Rode with these guys this March, lots of water everywhere! Our guide Josh was unbelievable! His knowledge of the area and history were were well worth the ride alone. We had good horses and quality tack, which made for a comfortable trip, we took the 1/2 day trip which we would highly recommend to anyone who really wants to see the Superstition mtns up close and personal!
Called well in advance to make a reservation for a 3 hour ride. Fantastic setting, great guide, mildly challenging terrain for our skill, which was very nice (we took the easier of the 3 hour options). Lots of tourist destinations nearby, so we mostly made a day of our trip out there. Very happy with our experience.
Nicole was our guide and she was fantastic! My Dad and I talked with Josh for a while and he was great too. Overall it was a fantastic experience. My Dad and I went for a 2 hour ride and it was the perfect ride - not too long and not too short. Its great when you interact with people who are passionate and love what they do.
We were staying in Florence and someone recommended this place to go horseback riding. We had our 15 yr old and our 7 yr old who have never been on horseback. Everything went great and we had a lot of fun. We were orginally going to go for 2 hours but when we checked in they suggested 1.5 because it was pretty hot for our 7 yr old daughter even though they lost money doing so. I thought that was very honest of them! She did start getting a little red so it was a good suggestion!!
Well schooled horses. Tour guide Hank was very knowledgeable of the area.I rode a horse name, Pancho. Also, we all have seen a scorpion, they are not tiny in size. The one we have seen, appeared to be a foot long.
I would recommend this place, but I want it all to myself ♥️♥️♥️♥️.James was wonderful and his co workers were gentlemen.I appreciate their time I enjoyed the experience
My husband and I really enjoyed horseback riding! The views were spectacular and our guide was very fun . We will be back :)
My wife and daughter age 12 when it for a 1hr ride that they really enjoyed. Nice guide. Nice horses.
Great place to go for a trail ride. Great guide that knows a lot about the surroundings.
Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! Great horses! Great guide! Great experience! If youre browsing which place to pick, these are your guys!
Amazing views, friendly staff, and very trained and gentle horses.
The horses were well cared for. Healthy and seemingly very well loved. They loved being pet. The wranglers told us about their personality traits and we got to witness them on the ride. The wrangler leading the group taught us about the plant life and some history of the area. For our 1 hour tour, there were two gorgeous spots for pictures and the wrangler took the pics for us so that we could stay on our horses. Great customer service. The gift shop had really cute handmade gifts and small snack bars/drinks. Small side note that shouldn’t really matter, but just FYI... the wranglers were pretty studly.HIGHLY recommend.
Had a great ride today. The guide was awesome. Thank you.
Love riding horses here! I love going through the cactus forest!
Went there yesterday and Jesse was very knowledgeable and helpful. I enjoyed my experience. Ive always wanted to go horseback riding. Dream come true. Cant wait to go again.
Myself and son and 2 of his friends really enjoyed the 2 hour trail ride. They never rode before and we are glad we did 2 hours instead of 1. Had a few steep hills. Didnt want us to trot though for the horses legs on rocks. People were nice there.
Super friendly place and cool fossils.
Hank was a great tour guide! Beautiful scenery and a lovely peaceful ride.
This place has rides for all levels amd all durations. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the area as well as the plants and animals in the area. He took his time to ensure my first time rider was comfortable on this 4 hour ride. He made jokes and was engaging in our whole group. I went with my daughter and there was another couple out on this ride. Highly recommend this place.
Good rates and wonderful people.
We had the best experience here yesterday! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and the ride was amazing. The facility is beautiful, as were the trails. Our guide was excellent, he took his time to explain things to us, checked in often, and took our picture!
Great experience, great customer service & great horses :) worth the money and the ride!! our tour guide was super nice and talkative (in a good way) and they supplied iced cold water 😄 i rode dollar and he was a very obedient horse and i felt safe!
They were so amazing! Fit us in last minute on our honeymoon! They were very kind and it was such a beautiful ride! So much life and the instructor, Frank, was so informative and had such a great personality! Thank you guys so much for taking us out with the horses!!!
We had a team meeting and decided to break away for a horseback riding adventure...we loved it! Great staff, beautiful scenery, and sweet horses! We will definitely be back! ~Shannen / General Manager @ Four Points by Sheraton at Phoenix Mesa Gateway Airport
I called ahead to make reservations for an hour ride to celebrate my husband’s birthday. We arrived on time and we encouraged to pay cash. The guide just added us to a group of 4 women without asking. While we waited, we overheard one of the guides drop the F bomb. The other men working were rude and short with both my husband and I. While out on the trail, we found it difficult to hear the guide with 4 horses in front of us. This was not the experience we were looking for and would have looked for a different corral. We felt like this was all about the money and not the experience. Do not recommend this business .
This was a wonderful way to see the countryside. Local cactus, nearby mountains, local wildlife. The horse I rode was super gentle and Hank our guide was great. We got the inside scoop on local lore and even heard a few cowboy jokes.
The whole experience was wonderful. Introduction and instructions easy to follow and one hour ride in the desert pleasant and educational. Owners, and Hank the guide went out if their way to make this a family forever memory.
Great experience!! Very fun!
My Wife and her sister and my 21 year old son went riding today with OK Corral! Jesse was awesome - got back to us so promptly to set up our reservation. James was very helpful with the riding tips, knowledgeable about the area we rode and a lot of fun as our trail leader! 2 hrs was a perfect amount of ride time. Ron is the master Lost Dutchman informant and we found a lot of beautiful art pieces at the gift shop. So enjoyable!!!
My husband and I had an amazing experience at OK Corral stables. Everyone there was friendly and very informative. Mr. Ron and I shared a love for Marilyn Monroe and he actually gave me a couple of pictures from his collection! If you are ever in Superstition Az please do yourself a favor and go see them!
This ranch was so good! They were all so experienced and so attentive to all of us! They made sure we were comfortable riding and picked the horses according to our abilities. Our guide Frank was very knowledgeable and kept his eye on each of us making sure we were doing ok. The scenery was spectacular right by the Superstition Mountains. I would definitely do this again!
Great experience! Went horseback riding here this past Sunday with my family and friends. My ten year old felt very comfortable and safe with the reassurance and instructions from very knowledgeable owners and guides. It was beautiful and an overall wonderful experience. Great job guys!!
My wife, son and I had an incredible time with James as our guide! James was not only informative about the nature around us but also very helpful in creating an relaxed atmosphere riding. The horses were great and all had their own personality. We all would highly recommend this facility for a wonderful riding adventure!
Tammy our guide was AMAZING FUNNY and very informative. She keeps us entertained for the entire hour. Our horses were well behaved and gentle. The views of the Superstitions mountains were stunning and breath taking! Would highly recommend this stable for a novice through a professional rider. You will not be disappointed!!
My 10 year old and I went horseback riding here and it was so easy! The horses were well cared for and the ride was relaxing through beautiful desert. We went on a one hour ride and from start to finish, it was the easiest trail ride I have done. The guide was funny and friendly and the whole crew made our experience a memorable one.
My wife and I just visited the OK Corral to celebrate our anniversary. We went on a 1 hour ride with our guide Bill who was very friendly and knowledgeable of the local area and its fauna. We were even lucky enough to see a family of deer on our ride! The horses are calm and easy to ride, all with their own personality quirks. My horse, Quincy, I was warned liked to stop and snack on the trail (which he tried to do several times) but I just had to pull him away and right back to the trail he went. I would happily recommend the OK Corral for anyone looking to go out on a horseback ride.
We are visiting from out-of-state and wanted to ride into the desert on horseback. We had our grandkids with us and no reservation but everyone was so patient & nice while we got the paperwork together long distance. Our 1-hour ride was a lot of fun & a learning experience & we will enjoy the memory. Our guide was engaging & entertaining, answered our questions & was patient with our inexperience. This is a great place & we highly recommend it!
Really enjoyed our hour trail ride with Hank! He made our day brighter with his tips about the variations of cactus and his knowledge of the area. He was mindful of our limited riding experience and made everyone feel comfortable. Best part is that he is a true cowboy from the area! We recommend the OK Corral when visiting Canyon Lake!
Very family friendly! Great guides and beautiful horses. We’ll be back!
Ron, Jesse and Denny were excellent hosts and Denny was a a fantastic guide! If you love the desert, I highly recommend a tour by horseback with the folks at OK Corral!
On my 60th Birthday, I decided every year to do something Extra-Ordinary, as a memorable birthday adventure. This year was a Desert Horseback Trail Ride. I chose OK Corral for their reviews. I was not disappointed.Denny, our Trail Guide was very engaging with everyone in our group. Especially a young girl. He made sure she had a safe & enjoyable time. All, guys there are the Epitome of Real Cowboys. They are very knowledgeable about their horses and which one to choose for each rider.I had pleasure of riding Bernie. I hope when I go again, soon, I can ride him again.I definitely will be going again. Thanks for making my 62nd Birthday, an AMAZING Adventure.Duchess H
Awesome ride, Hank and all the guys are real pros and super friendly. I highly suggest this place.
These guys treat you well and the horses are so much fun to ride. Beautiful scenery too!
A wonderful place to go riding. The staff is good and the trail ride in the desert is great. Very knowledgeable staff about the old mining holes and happenings from long ago. We go most years, always an experience.
Had a great time on a trail ride here this week! Our guide, Hank, was personable and knowledgeable and gave great instruction and kept us entertained. I highly recommend these guys!
We r from Florida and took and hour ride the first time and it was beautiful and the tour guide was awesome .. Very nice people and we are going back for the three hour ride before we leave.... Must visit if you love horses and want to try for the first time... Children can ride too and they have very gentle horses...
We had family in town and decided to take advantage of the great weather by going horseback riding. Josh at OK Corral Stable was very accommodating and we went on a one hour trail ride. The horses were well behaved and very clean. Our tour guides were attentive and friendly. The family had a great time and I will definitely go back again!!
We had an amazing experience, I suggest the hour tour. The owner was super nice, and the guide, Frank, was funny and very talkative. Horses look well taken care of, and there is a lot of history on the land and it’s cool to look at.
Family had a great time on the ride. The staff was very friendly and accommodated our big group as kids changed there minds about riding and the group went from 5 to 9 riders. Thanks for Uncle and Auntie for giving the kids the experience!!
Awesome experience!! We will definitely be back!! Amazing ride, our trail guide Nicole was so fun...all the staff their were super friendly!! Hands down best place ever!!
Absolutely loved the O.K. Corral!! Wonderful bunch of guides, well trained sweet horses and beautiful trails in the desert/mountains. Just remember your navigation displays APACHE JUNCTION, not Mesa. Two different places with the same address.
Great
TL;DR - History, good people, tame horses, botany, gold mine, experienced guide, family run business. I recommend it.My daughter (eight years old) and I were visiting the Grand Canyon (GC) from Minnesota. We took a short road trip from Phoenix to the GC Park and back. I was looking for a way out of going to the Phoenix Zoo on Sunday (our last day in Arizona)! Horseback riding was the way! (yuss I was just channeling The Mandalorian. I researched several ranches and chose this one because it sounded cool and the location sounded interesting. It is near a ghost town (for tourists...). The prices were very reasonable as a bonus. I had good vibrations about it and I learn to trust that feeling. I called them and got a call back from Jesse fast for a reservation on the same day. When we arrived the folks working were pleasant and casual, which I appreciate. Ron greeted us as we walked in. His personality was what you would expect from an older cowboy and it set a nice casual tone for the whole experience. Josh and Jesse helped us get situated with the horses. They were low key about it and made it a relaxing experience. I have a good amount of riding experience but I hadnt been on a horse for around 15 years. During the ride we learned that Jesse and Josh are reality television folks - treasure hunters for the Travel Channel among others and apparently the whole family were/are gold miners. Frank, our tour guide was the highlight of this trip. He was knowledgeable about the botany and history of the area. He is an Army veteran and works as a guide in both Wyoming (summer) and Arizona (winter). He has been riding all his life, he is passionate about it and he is a genuine and warm person. Frank was great with my daughter, answering all her questions and showing her how to take care of his horse (remove the bit and saddle) after the ride was over. My daughter rode Molly and I rode Billco, both were super tame trail horses. In the past, I prefer riding horses with a bit more spunk but I was alright with the choice because its been a while. Overall they are a very unique and charming group of people with a good story. The riding area sits on the historically largest gold mine (dont quote me on this - it was a big one) in Arizona and you can see Superstition Mountain during the ride. We learned some fascinating history about the area and I never thought about mining or treasure hunting before that ride. I would definitely go and ride with these folks again if I am in the area.
Great fun, extremely beautiful & relaxing. Staff is very friendly and professional. Highly recommend. We will definitely be back for a longer ride. You just dont want it to end.
Awesome 👌
The guide kept you entertained and loved what he did. Views are amazing, well behaved horses. The shop is very fairly priced and the owner really knows his stuff. I would strongly recommend to a friend or anyone visiting the Phoenix area.
We had a great time! The staff was friendly and patient with us beginners! My 8 year old loved it!
So lets start at the beginning...did you read the disclaimer that stated, If you get hurt you and only you are responsible, no one else. It s the law in AZ and many many states, when it comes to horse back riding. Lets take all the fun out of taking a grandson on a one hour ride. Such as, sorry grandpa you cant wear a cowboy hat, you cant have a camera around your neck and Grandma cant ride along because she cant get on a horse without help. But then...your stable tosses a 6 year old child on a horse . But she didnt get on the horse by herself. She didnt sign a waiver. I done this horse back thing many times, and many times we stepped on a box. This double standard is just wrong. besides that your 15 plus old horses dont have the energy to do much more than follow and rocky trail. If anyone is reading this...go some where else. Yippy Ki Ay.
Wonderful experience.Josh and the staff . Are hands down wonderful.Great price .great ride and wonder ful people.Highly recommend .For an experience. Of a life time.Call and ask for Josh.
Just came to visit the horses for my four year old grand daughters birthday. She loved it! Very kind gentle staff!
Great time ! We had the best guide funny, an entertaining! Wish I did a full day ride ! Very nice an friendly!!! Let him tell you why he has the fastest horse in the group lol!
AMAZING TRIP WITH A GREAT GUIDE. Request Frank if ya can!!!!
We had the best time this morning riding in the desert near Goldfield. Our guide Joah was extremely knowledgeable of horses and the terrain. The family run OK Corral is a great place for a horseback ride. Very friendly and accommodating.
Enjoyed this ride. Nice well mannered horses and very friendly guides.Highly recommend this whether you are a beginner or an experiencedhorseman. They can accommodate your riding skills.
Beautiful scenery, well trained horses and a fantastic guide.
Loved our ride! Guides and staff are all a blast! Cant wait to go back again!
My family and I went horseback riding here in the morning on Saturday, June 3rd. It was our first morning of our Arizona trip & it couldnt have been a more perfect kick-off. We did the two-hour trip, which was perfect. Josh was kind, patient, and friendly with my family. They offered to take a family picture of us on horseback and happily answered my dads eager questions about the botanics of Arizona desert! If you are in the area on your Arizona trip, the pure aesthetics of horseback riding in the Superstition Mountains cant be beat, and Ok Corral showed us a great time.
Enjoyed a wonderful 1 1/2 hour rideGuides are great and the scenery is amazingWould do this trip againMy 9 year old didn’t want to leave
Beautiful scenery, we were in back couldnt here our guide much but a nice ride
UPDATED review: just went back for our 6th annual ride today (my bf and i live in oregon, we come down yearly to visit family, and we ride here every time), and i am still super happy with this establishment. The guides are cheery and knowledgeable, the horses are happy and well-cared-for, and its overall STILL an excellent experience. Great job, folks!
My wife and I had a great time.
My wife and I went for a horseback ride. Or horses Quincy and Dollar were perfect as expected. Wayne was an awesome guide!!
I took 3 of my grandsons to OK Corral for a horseback ride. The staff was very friendy and made the younger ones feel comfortable and safe. Our guide placed my youngest and most apprehensive grandson directly behind him and gave him personal attention and instructions the entire time, telling him he was doing a great job! This made all the dfference in the world to him and he relaxed and smiled! Our guide, Jesse, explained a lot of info we didnt know about the desert, He made our ride very enjoyable and memorable, even offerring to take pics of each of us on our horse. I know that this is very commonplace for the folks that work outthere, but for us it was the highlight of the kids visit to grandmas on spring break! Thank you for a fun filled hour that built confidence in a little boy who totally enjoyed an activity that he was nervous about that! Thank you so much! I think this experience planted a seed for a love of horses, thank you so mjuch!
We went on a two hour horse ride on December 12, 2017. Rocky, CJ, and Jill were very pleasant ( our horses ), and our guide Hank was knowledgable + friendly. We are both City Slickers so it was real cool to see the open country / real cowboys. Will do it again : )
Josh and Jesse Feldman gave our 4 generation family group of 18 riders, ages 6-92, a great New Years Day experience in 2019. It was a treat that their dad Ron happened to be there, and it was fun meeting and talking with him. Ron is perhaps the last remaining expert on Superstition Mountain lore, having spent near 50 years riding with Tom Kollenborn. It was fun to be able to carry on a conversation with Ron, having myself made several hikes into the Superstitions over the past 50 years. If you ask Ron, he’ll tell you he’s found the Dutchman’s mine. He’ll even show you a picture of it! Thanks Josh, Jesse, and Ron. No Arizona activity is more interesting and exciting than being near the Superstitiions and hearing the lore from the horse’s mouth!
Fabulous views. horses are well trained and calm.
I think I was just in the sequel of City Slickers 3Horseback riding is always fun, but this ranch (which has been owned by the same family for 3 generations) has an rustic ambiance that permeates the senses. And no Im not just referring to the odor of horse dung that wafts thru the breeze...(try and stay up wind), this crew enjoys what they do and the guests that arrive there.Once we got thru the safety talk (its important to listen up..as falling into cactus has its own special thrill Im sure) our guide Hank was a full time guide (watching over us like a mother hen).. but also part time environmentalist, part time historian and a full throated horseback comedian. There were no tired old cowboy comedy yuk yuk lines, Hank had his own witticisms and one line zingers, which could only have been developed over years and years of practice. All that was missing was Billy Crystal and a camera crew ...
Friendly, knowledgeable and funny guide, Dennis, was great! Beautiful horses and trail was spectacular with the views.
We had a great time! Fun guides and excellent horses. We will go back.
