I had to take my dog here for a laceration on his leg over the weekend. If you don’t have an appointment, don’t bother. These people told me it would be HOURS, before they could see him and as soon as we decided to stay and wait he was back within five minutes. Long story short, these people care about the money more than your animals. They might be a decent vet but there is no way they should be considered one of the best emergency vets in the area.

Around late summer of 2020 I brought my cat in. She was suffering from weight loss and over drinking at the bowl. I asked for every test including blood and urine. I was charged almost 300 dollars for test. I was informed that she was in good health. Fast forward to January 24th my cat has a seizure lasting 45 seconds. I brought her into another vet who did the test I asked for months prior. Low and behold she is in stage 3 renal failure with maybe weeks to live. If this vet would have done the test I asked for they would have found elevated toxins in her blood. I would have been able to prolonge her life possibly years. Im not saying this vet killed my cat. But their negligence and inability to do specifically the the test I asked for took that from my cat and my family. The test at the second vet I visited charged almost the same amount for the test I asked for previously.Do not bring your animals to this vet. The follow up or talk with anyone isnt gonna change anything for me. Negligence of your doctor shortened my cats lifespan after we specifically asked your staff to test her for everything. Her name is biscuits and she shed more light on mine and my familys life than anything. Your staff should have listened when I asked for blood work. Before shooing me off with a shes in perfect health. I would have paid anything to save her. So again do not bring your cat here.

This was our first experience with Animal Medical Center in almost 15 years and we were very impressed. We had to bring our senior pug in over the weekend. The service was curbside, which made us uncomfortable at first, but the staff made every effort to make us comfortable and ensure us that our furbaby was in good hands. We’ve been so discouraged by so many veterinary clinics that we’ve actually been traveling out of the county to find a place that made us comfortable. Customer service is a big deal to me and we felt welcome from the time I called to make our baby’s appointment to the moment I got a text the next morning checking on him. We will definitely be making them our regular vet for our senior baby!!

He would not have made it.However, I was a good bit irritated that they didn’t answer their emergency line.I plan to take my Cockatoo there soon, and I am getting a new puppy that I would like to take there.

My sweet, very active chocolate lab mix injured her leg while playing. Our regular vet couldn’t help me or see her for two weeks, and I tried taking her to a different one close to home where I waited (in the car) with her for two hours without getting her checked. I called all the other vets close to me, and no one could help. I was literally in tears not knowing what to do when I called Animal Medical Center, and they were able to see her within the hour it took me to get there! Despite all the workarounds they are having to do with Covid-19, every staff member I spoke with was so nice, kept me informed every step of the way, and was extremely efficient...not making the animals have to wait in cars for hours! Thanks to them, I was able to take care of my girl, be reassured she wouldn’t injure it further, and she’s already back running around!

Before I was even done they called to say her sugar level was good and there was nothing they could do. No antibiotics, nothing! She is losing her fur and not putting on weight. She couldnt tell me anything! I learn more from Google than this dang vet. I mean if there is nothing you can do then dont charge me 84 bucks. My husband is still livid that we paid 84 dollars just to fill their paperwork out. We may of been there for 5 minutes total.

Finally got to talk to the vet and he was very condescending. Told me they wanted to keep it for at least four more days. I thought this was crazy. This place should be a last resort to take a sick animal. We took our pup on a Thursday morning, called to check on her morning and evening. On Saturday morning, the vet said she was still not well enough to come home and needed to stay longer. I asked him at this time if her chances of surviving were low and he never gave a clear answer other than she should stay longer. She passed away early the next morning. I will forever feel guilty for not going to get her on Saturday morning. She could have passed away at home, knowing we were right there by her side to comfort her till the end. Instead, we tacked even more money onto an already huge bill because the vet would not be upfront about her chances. Now we are left wondering if she missed us so badly, it contributed to her not getting better. I feel some of the staff really work there because they genuinely care. But, to me....my opinion, this place is more concerned with the amount of money that can be brought in over the feelings of animals and their humans....again, just my opinion.

My beagle was attacked & nearly killed September 11th. I carried him here. 7 days later I was able to bring him home (alive). They are amazing (if you have the money). When I brought Bandit in, they examined him & told me I needed $900 upfront, & possibly $3,500 by the end of treatment. I had the money, so he got to live. I feel for anyone who can not come up with that kind of money. He has now cost about $6,100 because of infections. The whole team is amazing & so is there care. Veterinarians have a high suicide rate, & if they see (too often) what I saw the morning of September 11th, I can truly understand why. Please don’t blame them because the company they work for requires so much money. Bandit is having another surgery today because his leg got a build up of fluid in it. He is now following up with Lincoln vet. I thank every single one of y’all for everything you did for Bandit

I was panicked and called a couple other clinics and got no sense of urgency, so and so is at lunch, we close at 12, blah blah. I kept driving until I found one on my Google search that would take us in right away and it was VCA Animal in Anniston. We got lucky.Very nice doctor, super sharp staff of techs, open 24/7 and got us in right away. In a nutshell a non specific gut bleed but my dog got the proper shot and antibiotic that calmed her belly immediately, special food, instructions and a calming demeanor to assure me shed be fine. I am really puzzled by the reviews, but maybe I was really lucky? We got to see Dr. Donahue and she was amazing, thoughtful, and thorough, something I havent experienced in a while (seems to be something about female veterinarians). My baby had been sick for a few days and ended up having a seizure, throwing up with a little bit of blood. I was so distraught and panicked, trying to find any vet in the area that could help. Most of them turned me away, but when I called here the lady on the phone was polite and helpful. Everyone in there seemed really kind. I have been to 4 different vets (2 out of state) and I would have to say this was definitely one of the better ones Ive been to. It seems so terribly difficult to find a good, caring vet but they really helped us in our time of need and showed us they care. They were super comforting and put our minds at ease, this vet was a miracle for us, such a blessing and I am so grateful. Cant say thank you enough !!

This place charges you out the ass because they know they can get away with it being the only emergency vet open. I get that, whatever, but that doesn’t mean care any less about the animals. These animals ARE people’s FAMILY. I went because my dog had gotten into something and was having severe tremors, wanted to charge me 3,000 dollars to keep him for 3 nights or 1,000 for one night. Cost me 300$ just to see them and be sent home with medicine. We discussed these prices more than my actual dogs health. It’s not even about the money though honestly. It’s the fact I felt they cared more about their money than my dog who was severely sick. I had to drive an hour to get there because it was the nearest open vet and the bald headed guy was really rude. I was crying and very emotionally unstable, he had the audacity to face palm himself when I was answering a question wrong because I was misunderstanding the question. I’m sorry but I’m a 20 year old with no children these dogs are my KIDS. so short summary they don’t give a damn about your animals, they had no compassion, we honestly discussed the payment plan more than my actual dogs sickness. Our usual vet only charged $65 to sedate and neuter the cat, so we knew this was outrageous price gauging. We left with some antibiotics that set us back $120. Took my cat Friday to our long time vet. He took x rays and thought our baby had a gi problem possibly a hard stool. He gave mineral oil and fluids for her dehydration. I was to bring her back Monday if she wasnt better. That night around midnight she threw up and was having trouble breathing. I took her to this place. The vet looked like a 15 year old and that made me nervous. I felt he could not have much experience. The care plan was $1000 to $1300. I was told she had heart disease and was in heart failure. (Her vet had told me earlier that day her heart looked good.)She was put in an oxygen chamber. They called Saturday wanting to take more x rays and said she had not responded well to their treatment. We said please no more test just keep her comfortable till we can get her to her vet Monday. On Sunday they called said the same thing she wasnt responding and needed more x rays/treatment. We could not keep spending a ridiculous amount. We were going to at least have to pay another day for her hospital stay or bring her home and watch her suffer, and if their diagnosis was right she would live an average of only 6 to 9 months. I was distraught We decided to put her down so she wouldnt suffer. I know they took some off the bill because of one of the doctors kindness. I appreciate that.My total bill was $1000.00 including putting her down. This was my worst fear. I regret the choice .maybe if I had waited Dr. Long could of saved her or maybe if I had been rich they could have. There’s a good reason why most people avoid this vet. I made an appointment at the Anniston Animal Medical Clinic well over a week ago. I go in today and the girl behind the counter starts saying things like “We’ve been trying to reach you,” “We weren’t sure you were serious about the vaccines so we didn’t order them; they’d have to come from Birmingham, you know,” and, my personal favorite, “We don’t get a lot of ferrets; most people in the area don’t even bother to get them shots so I’m sure you can discuss your options further with the vet.”I never once received a phone call expressing any of that but I reluctantly took a seat in their EMPTY waiting room to at least have my girls looked over. After being forced to wait for FORTY-FIVE MINUTES, a woman comes out of the back talking about rescheduling, wanting to know if I wanted to see the FILL-IN vet, and reiterating that the office staff didn’t know I was serious. At that point, I waved off her requests to “make things right” and walked out.I now have an appointment with a vet in Birmingham for Friday (thank the Lord) but, if the prices weren’t deterrent enough to keep you away from the Anniston Animal Medical Center, maybe knowing they LIE about having an exotic on staff, believe appointments are jokes, and shots are optional will be.

We use this place to board our 3 dogs when we travel. I cannot say enough wonderful comments about how well cared for our babies are while we are gone. Prior to using them we used another boarding facility in Anniston and had 3 awful experiences in a row. Nothing makes travel worse than worrying about your 4 legged babies while you are gone. Animal Medical Center puts my mind at ease. They take excellent care of Bo, Sollie, and Goldie (our newest who will board for the first time next week). We had another ridgeback who boarded there when he was alive and they were wonderful to him as well (he had special needs). I love the option of the suite for keeping all 3 boarded together. I have a ridgeback, a terrier mix, and a Australian Shepherd and they all fit nicely in a suite with ample space. Seriously don’t take your babies anywhere else to be boarded! And P.S. for grooming I HIGHLY recommend Kristin! She does a great job!

The 1st visit we had was a pleasant one where we took our dog for eating chocolate. It wasnt terribly expensive and they got him feeling better quickly. Our recent visit was not so pleasant. We changed dog foods and took him in for an emergency visit only to pay $60 in medicine that did not work along with the $100+ fee. We took him the next day and the vet ordered $400 in tests for what turned out to be a simple stomach ache. Very frustrated at spending $1000 for something we know we can get far cheaper at another vet. Blood test was $180 here, it was $50 at the one we usually go to. I will say the staff was pleasant and polite, but it felt like they were trying to get all they could out of us.

We had an emergency with one of our babies and had to use the emergency services. The staff was very friendly! We took Shiloh in on Monday and he had surgery on Thursday and then was able to come home on Friday. I called and visited every single day while he was there and the staff was very nice about it. Friday when Shiloh got to come home I had to take him back on Saturday and Sunday to have some staples replaced and again they were friendly about it. They called to check on Shiloh the day after he got home. I am thankful that AMC offers emergency services during all hours. I do not know what I would have done during this tragedy without them. Yes the bill was a little expensive. Near $3,000, but for the care and attention that Shiloh received during his stay it was worth every penny! Thank you to the Vets and staff at AMC you all do amazing work. Thank you for saving our baby!!

I learned in 2013 stay far away from this business. They offer the highest prices, lowest quality of care for animals, and rudest customer service. From the looks of reviews, not much has changed. There are great veterinary offices in the area, but AMC is not one of them.

Went there when my pup broke his arm and they charged over 400$ to do a X-ray and put on a cast. Took him back 4 weeks later due to him being in pain from a sore. They didn’t treat the sore and then put another cast on top. Got home today, a week from when they put the cast on the sore, and his cast smelled rotten. Decided to take the cast off myself and found that his pain was completely raw (to the bone) and black. Called them and they tried to blame it on me and suggested coming back so they could put another cast on. I will never take my pets back there cause all they do is try and get your money. The only vet that I’ve found that truly cares about their animal patients is Sleeping Giant Vet in Talladega.

I didnt have a vet here in Anniston (moved from Georgia) and my poor Yogi ended up with with a skin infection from flea bites even though he was on flea meds monthly. I called Animal Medical Center of Anniston, they got me in right away! They took such amazing care of Yogi, changed his flea meds and gave him antibiotics, anti inflammatory meds as well as a antibiotic spray to soothe his back. He is doing so good today and they even followed up with a text message to check on him. The staff there were all amazing, all the way from the first call to checking out. The prices were very reasonable and even gave a military discount. I can not give enough praise and good words for this group. If you need vet care for your fur babies, I highly recommend them!

Only 3 because of the history I have with this facility and the care they gave my baby for a few years. Talking with Lawrence tonight was less than ideal due to his lack of motivation to help a stray dog my sister found at work. He flat told me that if her vitals were not stable they would send her back with my sister since she was a stray and didn’t have the money to pay for the full doctors exam. That’s unethical and goes against every code and oath you take as a vet or tech or assistant. All I was asking you do was help out and check her vitals. I know the stray fund runs on donations and there’s not much you can do for every baby that walks through the door but what I was asking for took very little effort, time, or supplies for you to do. Then you tell me to just tell her to bring the dog in with attitude, in which I thanked you for by name, and hang up on me. You were nice at first but you sure finished with a bang! The receptionist who answered the phone, Foley I believe, was very professional and informative though. My sister has since gotten the money and she’s staying the night for observation and vaccinations!

I’ve used AMC twice. One dog ate something toxic and was almost dead when we found him. AMC kept him for three days and miraculously he’s back to his normal self running and playing. The other dog broke a nail and it was hanging by the nail bed. They were able to pull it off and control the bleeding.I love how they have all the medical equipment they need on site and there is a veterinarian on duty 24/7 for emergencies. They also offer many services that I used to travel to Birmingham for.My local vet has closed shop and I will begin using AMC for all future needs.

We are pleased with the care that Boo receives at AMC and we are most fond of Dr. Leah Donahue. With this past visit, Boos nails were not trimmed nearly enough (and yes I understand the delicacy of same. Also, we had asked that Boos hair be brushed thoroughly while he was under anesthesia for his dental cleaning; unfortunately several of the same clumps of hair were still present, not having been clipped out when we returned home with him. The man who could well comb and clip Boos clumps has moved on to another job and with my disability, I cannot comb or brush his. hair because he wont tolerate it and he scratches and bites when I try. I was willing to pay the large.fee in order to get these things that I listed completed while Boo was there.I would also like more input on the dental disease that was diagnosed and whether there is anything at all that we can do to further treat him for what sounds dreadful for him......losing all his teeth? We completed all his antibiotics without incident, but had a really terrible time trying to give him the pain medicine. In ending, I am thankful that Boo appears to be doing well, although he sleeps a great deal, but then he also runs throughout the house a couple of times each day!!Thank you for taking care of my sweet boy. Brenda M. Beasley (Kitty Boo 2s Mommie)!!

So far I have taken my pug, Wheezy here twice. They are a little pricey, but well worth it. I decided to take him here because my hometown vet, although nearby, was a joke, but I am not reviewing them so that is all I will say about that. The first time I took wheezy to the vet he had cut his penis on something sharp. They were extremely friendly, addressed the problem, and it is healing up well. The second time I had to rush Wheezy there because he had very bloody stool and diarrhea. We found out he had pancreatitis. This devastated me, because I hate to see my littl buddy in pain. They recommended hospitalizing him for a couple days which was going to cost almost 2,000$ to give him fluids. They were very understanding of my financial situation and came up with a different treatment plan. 3 days later Wheezy has had no blood in his stool, no more diarrhea, and his appetite is better than I remember it ever being. Overall I am extremely satisfied with their service they are extremely friendly and caring. I would recommend AMC to anyone

I took my dog Tosha there they wanted to do a blood transfusion $1400 - $2000 by one blood draw, exam was pressing on her stomach for 2 min while she laid on the floor. I was told if I didnt have it done I might as well put her to sleep. But was told bring her back the next morning to check her blood levels.Over $400. I took her to a vet in Piedmont. He quickly found a mass on her spleen which he removed 2 nights in the hospital, surgery and the office visit $440. Toshagirl Has been fine. AMC is nothing but rude money hungry folk who preys on ppl emotions.

I know that there are some bad reviews out here but I MUST have my say. Dr. Nichols and Dr. Nelson are two of the most wonderful vets I have ever encountered. Dr. Stanley Lester being the most wonderful. I know they are pricey however, they are here 24-7 and I need someone that I can count on if my dogs have an emergency. I love the staff and they usually know me when I walk in the door. I am sorry if you have had a bad experience here, maybe some miscommunication? Dr. Nelson did surgery on my Pomeranians leg and he never had a limp, they treated my other Pomeranians diabetic problems and have treated both of my Yorkies. My dogs are our babies and they respect this. When our beloved Charlie died they made us a paw print and mailed it to us. When our Buster passed away at home we received a card signed by the entire staff. Just small things but things that help during this time. They have never failed to post our Christmas card on their bulletin board. We will continue doing business with them as long as they are in business and judging by their waiting room and the amount of people that I know use their services they will be in business a long, long time. Thank God!

I would only use this center if my dog had a bone protruding out of her body. I was actually referred here and it was nothing short of a nightmare. I should have read the reviews on here first. First of, I was treated rudely and stupid when I first went in. Also, I was charged over twice the price that I was quoted. I took my dog in for an emergency c-section. Dr. Cooner had been on duty way longer than he should have been and almost killed my dog. A simple procedure, yet he did not do the internal stitches correctly and she almost bled out requiring an additional surgery and a blood transfusion. My puppies were just thrown in a cardboard box and three hours later had not even been fed anything. Also, I was assured that I had 4 healthy puppies. When in reality, I had three healthy puppies and one with a cleft palate that would have died a slow miserable death had I not already been feeding him myself. My momma dog had a reaction to the pain medication and was given valium. Only upon insisting the vet tech recheck to make sure that it was ok to give a nursing mother valium, I found out that valium can kill the puppies of nursing mothers. One long nightmare is what I experienced with this center. And the fact that some of the staff there are so arrogant as to say they are a hospital and not just some fly by the night clinic like I must be used to.I attempted to resolve my dissatisfaction with Dr. Nelson and Dr. Nicholls. One didnt acknowledge my suffering at all and the other said he would investigate and get back to me. That never happened. After reading some of the reviews, I suppose they would spend all of their time trying to pacify people if they did respond to every unhappy client. If you are looking for any type of customer service or a vet that actually cares about your pet, DO NOT take them here. There are simply too many people working there that do not care.

Anniston Medical Center in Anniston Al Dr.Nichols are sssoooo great the staff is friendly and understand that your babies are not just animals but part of your family. We have used Dr. Nichols for over 20 years and let me tell you there is no other Doctor or place i will EVER use .Last year we had to take one of our babies because a pitbull attached him. His throat was so torn that air was filling his body not reaching his lungs. He had to attached to a venterlater for 2 days Dr. Nichols stayed with him over night . He kept me informed .They kept him in ICU for 4 days and let me take him home and continue treatment . Dr Nichols called everydayto make sure my baby was doing ok.I tell everyone that AMC is the only place to go for great care of their babies, i can never say enough about how greast AMC is.Terry Scott
