The last 2 times I came to visit family in Iowa I needed to rent a car and I came across this place and let me tell you what I’m so happy that I did. The owner was so kind and helpful and after being on a long flight it was like a breath of fresh air. I had no issues with any of the vehicles that were rented to me and the drop offs went just as smoothly as the pick ups went. I highly recommend this company to anyone needing a reliable vehicle and most of all the rates are probably best in town.

I reserved a car online months in advance. I called the company the day of my car rental and they said they didn’t have a car for me. They gave me zero options to make it right. They had no alternatives, except renting an SUV — put paying more. I am extremely disappointed and would never use this company in the future. Horrible customer service and problem solving skills. If I could give a zero star review I would.

I would never go to this location again. Sam would call me twice from two different phone numbers whenever there was an issue back to back. The first time he did that was to inform me that he didn’t have a vehicle for me in the type I had ordered. That part worked out as I was able to change vehicle type. The second time he did that was to inform me that he was charging me the cleaning fee because he found some pet hair. Nowhere does it talk about pet hair as a reason for a cleaning fee. The sign in the car mentions staining and damaging type of situations. Every car should be getting a cleaning before going out to the next person and a cleaning would have taken care of some pet hair. There was never a pet in the car. It was just the amount carried in from our luggage and a blanket from my sons bed. If I had known it was going to be an issue, I could have taken some precautions. When I responded with questions as to why I would be charged for some pet hair, Sam immediately started to aggressively address me as ma’am, as if I was flying off the handle. I tried to return the car during open business hours to find a sign that whoever was supposed to be there decided to leave early. I then had to find the Dropbox at the back of the building in the rain, even though they knew there was a drop off scheduled. The only thing I enjoyed about this experience was the car itself.

They make sure you like family I would not go know else I let all my family and friends know where to go

Enterprise wasn’t helpful, so I decided to try someplace new. I got a ride to the Ankeny Avis location. I got there with my 2 kids and things. The guy at the desk ran my credit card. I wasn’t informed there was a $200 hold + the cost of my car. So, it declined and I wasn’t able to use a different form of payment afterwards. 1pm came around and my ride wasn’t here to pick me up yet. We got put out with all of our things . Even though I didn’t get my rental, I was still charged $200 for canceling. I had a very bad first experience here. I most likely won’t be returning.UPDATE: I got a random call the following day (05-02-2021) from the guy that was working the front desk at the time. He called my personal cell and asked why I stated my opinion of the situation and threatened me to never come back to the store because of my review. I was angry and felt disrespected and he didn’t make the situation any better. He said he didn’t put us out because he had to close, which i understood, but he did and made us stand outside, in 80°+ weather, on the day of my daughter’s birthday, for 20-30 mins.I should NOT be getting personal calls from associates for stating my opinion, at all.

Sam is the manager of this lot and he has been nothing but Super helpful. I’ve been renting vehicles from him a while now and always have it nice and clean and ready if/when I’m ready to pickup a vehicle.

Our minivan broke down on Sunday afternoon on the interstate. We called because they were going to close at 2p, and we asked if they could wait no later than 230p for us to get there because we could only travel 10mph. Sam was so gracious waiting and provided excellent customer service. He worked with us on our short notice rate, gave us a great vehicle, and offered to let the family use the restroom and waited for us to make sure we were able to move all our items into the new vehicle before we took the troubled car to the dealership. America needs more generous people like Sam! Great job Avis for having such great employees. We will rent with you again!!

We arrived at 530 to pick up a rental that was supposed to be completely covered by the company we work for. At first the clerk claimed there was no reservation, even with our confirmation number. After he tried every one of our cards he said none of them worked and he could not help us, but we shouldnt have needed a card anyway since the company was covering it. My husband stepped outside to call our corporate office and went back in to hand the phone to the clerk. I remained in the car. About 5 mins later out storms my husband, mad as hell and without a rental agreement or keys. The clerk threw him out of the location, refusing to stay past the 6 pm closing time to help us get this handled. The man wasnt only non-apologetic, but also confrontational and aggressive with zero customer service skills. We were not impressed and neither was our emoloyer, who Im sure does plenty of business with Avis but am not sure they will again. I know we certainly wont.

Went with my parents to pick up a rental, guy working was very rude as they were picking up a rental for a job they had to do that there boss was paying for. Gentleman working 3-2-2021 refused to help even though we were there 30 mins before they closed, and kicked my father out of the store and tried starting a physical altercation with him because he refused to put him in a rental vehicle after 6 pm, even though there was a reservation set in place and everything! Won’t go through and definitely won’t recommend

I needed a rental car for a drive out to Ohio to visit with family since we currently cant fly due to Covid. Sam hooked me up. He was professional, kind, and gave me an amazing deal. If youre a Costco member, make sure to book it through Costcos Travel Page. Sam will also tell you this. It legit saved me like $80 on the rental. The car he put me in made the drive out and back so smooth. It saved me the headache and worry about anything potentially happening to my car during the trip. Do not rent from this guy in Ankeny. We rented from him twice. The first time he was extremely rude and over charged us. We complained to budget about how he handled himself and they refunded the money. We complained to him the car was dirty when we picked it up and he told us it was cleaned and that the hair all over the place was from the seats. The windshield was also cracked. When we returned the car we presented him with pictures and he told us we were lying and kicked my wife out. The second time we had to used him was because no one else in the Des Moines area had a Suburban. I dealt with him as he was rude with my wife. We got the same vehicle with the cracked windshield. He was super nice. Upon returning the vehicle he showed us a picture of the interior that had something sitting in a cup holder. He told us it was some kind of E cig cap. Told us the car smelled of smoke. We dont smoke cigarettes or E-cigs Told me he was going to charge me damage. The picture was a different interior. I complained and he kicked me out. As soon as you confront this individual about something he will kick you out. We have filed multiple complaints with Budget and are going to the better business bureau. He has horrible customer service. My daughter called him because she left her ID and Air pods in the vehicle. He told her he would not tell her if he had them or not. Do yourself a favor and go to another rental company or at least use a budget in a different city.
