Great service again. Need a part so Ill be going back. Friendly and personable treatment makes me feel at home.Adam, Eric and John (listed alphabetically because rating them by order of awesomeness would be too difficult) are clearly the well oiled cogs that make the Mitch Smith Auto machine run so smoothly. This is the only place I feel comfortable enough with to leave my vehicle for the service needs I cannot perform myself.

I was traveling from out of town to see a used car and had these guys do a pre-purchase inspection. Definitely my most positive experience with any auto service. From the moment I made the appointment I felt assured they’d give me a good idea what I was getting into. Place is clean and was easy to wait while they checked out the car, even had a phone charger for me. From the waiting area I could hear other customers paying and saying what a good experience THEY’D had. Dan who I was dealing with was really thoughtful and spent time going over what they found out about the vehicle. Didn’t feel rushed and got great advice on how to proceed. Felt terrific having that info going into negotiating a price. Only sorry I’m not local to do more business down there road.

Not very happy with the service I received. I took my 2005 Mercedes E320 with 110,000 miles here for a tensioner Pulley and Idle pulley replacement. I was on my way home from my grandfathers funeral in Illinois when the tensioner seized up and melted off the car. I wanted to get the car as close to home as possible, and had been considering these guys for a while now to get my alignment and a few other small things done that most shops cannot do on imports. Out of convenience, I decided to eat the 400 dollar tow bill to bring it here, and avoid driving back to Illinois to pick up the car. When they received the car they recommended doing the idler pulley as well, which I agreed to, as the idler often does go out around 100,000 miles in these cars. They performed the repairs on the vehicle, and called me to come pick it up. I drove the hour trip to pick up the car, and the first thing I did was pop the hood. What I found was the serpentine belt completely shredded and wrapped around the alternator pulley. I immediately went in and grabbed Dan to come out and look at it. He was very apologetic about the situation, but had no real excuse as to why the vehicle was in this condition, and blamed it possibly being a bad belt. Best they could come up with is that they start each vehicle on the lot in the morning to defrost, and that it must have happened then due to a faulty belt. How nobody heard anything out of the ordinary is beyond me.They took the car back into the garage, removed the shredded belt, and put a new belt on. It seemed to be running ok, but I told them I would much prefer the vehicle stay overnight again and be given a thorough once over to ensure there was nothing else out of wack that would cause this problem. We came to the conclusion that I would leave the car and come back tomorrow. As we were pulling out of the lot, Dan ran out and gave us the option of them road testing the vehicle for 10 miles and then sending me on my way because the owner did not want us to be inconvenienced by having to come back. I told them that I would be more inconvenienced if I got 10 miles down the road and threw the belt again, and would be more comfortable leaving the car for a more thorough inspection. I believe they were simply trying to avoid the vehicle taking up more of the mechanics time the next day.I was told over and over that the car would be thoroughly road tested, and that Mitch would most likely test the car himself to ensure that it was in working order. The next day, around 12 pm I got the call to come pick up the car. I asked if there was a possibility that the old belt had been mistakenly replaced on the car. I was told that was not possible as the belt was broken in two. I know this to be untrue, as I removed the belt from the engine compartment myself on the side of the road, as well as what was left of the tensioner pulley, and placed then in the passenger seat. The belt was in one piece when I removed it from the engine compartment and placed it in that seat. I believe they tried to save money by replacing my old belt, while still charging me for the new belt. When I returned the next day, the car appeared to be working properly, though I had some concerns with the idler pulley they put on as well. It has some rough spots in the grooves that I do not like the look of. I agreed to take the car, but told them if I had any issues regarding this repair, they would be hearing from me soon.As soon as I left I looked at the trip odometer on the vehicle. The trip odometer indicated that over the course of the 2 days they had the vehicle they only road tested for 15 miles. I then looked at my mpg ratings which were reading 14-15 mpg, which is indicative of the car sitting running idle. If the car had been driven after idling, the mpg should have been reading in the 20s. Im not convinced the car was road tested after they changed the belt again.I also paid to have the alignment done, which is still not correct. Tensioner is also making a rubbing sound, and appears to have a slight wobble.

After taking my 2012 ford focus in for transmission issues, i was told that codes were popping up for an issue with the valve body assembly in the transmission at times and at other times there were no codes being shown. the car kept for better part of week trying to recreate my issue. i was then presented with 2 possible fixes, a transmission flush to extend the life of the valve body assembly ($200 something) or replace valve body assembly for $1400. i chose transmission flush. less than 2 weeks later car is dead on the road, same issue as before. i then had the car towed to mitch smiths to have the valve body replaced (since it was already quoted to me, on an invoice even) only to find out 2 days after it was towed there that there is no valve body replacement available for my model of car. i am then told that my only option is a $3000+ trans. replacement (with a used one) with a 90 day warranty, ps the tow charge is $85 (for nothing since the part that was prev. quoted doesnt exist. i than brought our backup car, 2008 buick lacrosse in for work since it had not been driven in over 6 months. i told them we need a tire replaced, a new battery, new front brakes and to have an exhaust leak fixed. after a few days and speaking with dan in particular about the issues with BOTH cars. i was certainly shocked to pick up the car after paying over $1300 and to pull out onto 32 only to hear that exhaust is as loud as ever.. reviewed invoice which states in the towing notes that it needs to have exhaust inspected.. it was never done. upon questioning dan about it im told they did not think it was a big enough concern to address (although he is able to tell me that they think the noise is due to 1 or possibly more failing gaskets). despite it being 1 one of the main issues i wanted fixed (which is why it is in the tow notes). again nothing on the invoice even mentions exhaust, not even in the deferred service section of the invoice with points out every other part of the car that was checked and told needed repaired. sold me on new transmission coolant lines, inspected my wipers even.. just neglected to even mention 1 of the main reasons it was there. save yourself the hassle and goto don miller tire in anderson or t&j auto also in amderson.

I had taken my 2003 Honda Accord to this repair shop previously and was overall pleased with the service, although the price seemed a little high. I wrote a review detailing my satisfaction with their service. After purchasing a 2011 Dodge ram 1500 at an auction I took my vehicle there for an overall inspection and was advised by Adam that they could put a leveling kit on my truck to keep the tires from rubbing when I turned the vehicle far left or far right. After they installed a leveling kit, the tires still rubbed and I called and spoke with Adam and he stated that they would put a 2-inch leveling kit on the truck and that would keep the tires from rubbing. In other words, they would make it right. After a week and still no new 2 inch leveling kit installed on my truck, I called to speak with Adam and as luck would have it, he was out of town and no one seemed to know what was going on with my truck. When Adam returned I spoke with him and told him that I had spoken with someone else at this establishment and they were waiting on FedEx to deliver the leveling kit, however, he knew nothing about it and therefore could not verify one way or the other as to its availability. Obviously when you speak with a service advisor at this establishment and they go out of town for training or for any other reason, no one else seems to know the status of the repairs on your vehicle. After spending 13 days at their establishment I finally called and spoke with the owner of Mitch Smith Auto service and I was told that they had already installed the 2-inch leveling kit and it still did not resolve the issue. He stated he would give me a $200 refund on the leveling kit, which they did, but my tires still rub the same way they did before I took it in to have it serviced. I had my son-in-law check to see if the 2 inch leveling kit had in fact been installed and lo and behold, no 2 inch leveling kit.Bottom line, they were not upfront and honest with me as to what needed to be done to resolve the issues and I still paid $116 for something that should never have been installed on my truck! Needless to say, I will never be visiting Mitch Smith auto service for any auto repairs again!I just wish I had it looked at the other negative reviews as I dont think I would have ever taken my first vehicle to them, much less my truck!

I live in Indianapolis and my son wanted to buy a Chrysler Crossfire from a couple in Anderson so I went to Mitch Smith to have it checked out before a purchase. They did so and found a few minor things like an oil change, wiper blades and so forth which didnt concern me. He also found the brake rotors had a layer of rust which he said was most likely from the car having been sitting unused for a few months. He did find a value gasket leak but otherwise said the car was in good shape. I negotiated a price with the leak and bought the car. When I took it to my mechanic to get the leak fixed he found that the rotors were scarred and needed to be replaced. A suspension spring was cracked. All total I had to spend an additional $1,000 to get the car safe for my son to drive. My mechanic also told me that Crossfire parts are hard to find. In face he couldnt find the spring. If I had known all this I would not have bought the car. I havent had Mitch Smith do any actual repair work but based on his lack of ability to find some of these problems I never will.

They tored to show us a bad part and lie about what was wrong . my friend called them out on it. Tbey said they test drove it for miles and it only had 6 extra miles on it. Then owner called and insulted me. Telling me i was trash and mu vehicle was trash. I told a friend about my service and they said they had similar experience a few years ago. Do not trust this company. They did not even ok the first fix they did. Very dishonest company. No company should talk to a customer like he did to me. I needed new brakes on my wifes van I got a quote from Mitch Smith and another place in Pendleton. They were close in price, I went with Mitch Smith because they were closer to my home. They ended up doing breaks in the back and not the front and charged me the same price as if I had all the breaks done. But when I looked it appeared that they replaced my brake calipers they looked new. I picked up the van and took the family out to lunch and on the way home the breaks got stuck and my van was smoking and was undrivable. I called Mitch Smith and they said drive it to the shop and they would look at it. They would not send a tow truck I had to use AAA to pick up the van and had to get friends to get my family. When I got the van to the shop they said it would be another $300 on top of the $700 we just paid, they said I needed new brake calipers. I asked these look new they said oh no we just paint them to look good. My response was I did not ask you to paint them and could this have anything do with them getting stuck? They said no paint on the calipers has nothing to do with this, it is like us putting a new tire on the rim and it blows out and damages your fender. Two completely different parts of the car, one has nothing to do with the other. They treat people like they are idiots. I will never take a car there or even recommend them to some one.
