Wuxia Martial Arts is the quintessential training location for Ving Tsun (pronounced Wing Chun), Modern Arnis & No GI BJJ.I have been a student of Wuxia Martial Arts for almost 5-years and during that time my skill level and confidence has improved exponentially. Under the expert training and guidance of the school’s owner and lead instructor Sifu Scott Tarbell, I have learned to respect others and respect myself. I have grown to understand what it means to be a martial artist and the responsibilities that go along with it. I have developed a love and appreciation for the art itself. I have learned techniques under control and have developed a level of skill far beyond what I had previously had. With the programs in this school, you can improve yourself and develop strength, skill, and confidence at any age. At the time of this writing, I am 62-years old and becoming better with every class. When you join Wuxia Martial Arts, you become part of the Wuxia Family, where you will be treated as family.
We moved from Texas to New England partly because of the reputation of this school.SIFU Tarbell is highly ranked in many disciplines, however we wanted authentic Chinese Ving Tsun, (traditional Wing Chun) and SIFU Tarbell teaches a team of several excellent Ving Tsun instructors. The surprise benefit for us is the practical applications of Ving Tsun when we are exposed to other disciplines giving us a better real world understanding of self defense. My wife and I enjoy the family aspect and helpful culture in the school.
I have been training at this school for the past 10 years and enjoyed the high quality, history and martial morality focus. It offers a complete program of training different styles that span all the ranges of engagement.
A few different styles for all skill levels provided by high quality martial arts instructors.
Wuxia offers expert instruction in a wide range of martial skills- striking, grappling, the use of weapons, and more. The head instructor, Scott Tarbell, has a background in education and teaches in an incisive and patient manner. He very much plays the part of the encouraging coach rather than the stern master, and is genuinely interested in the progression of each student, no matter their experience. The school has a supportive, family-like atmosphere. Although the classes are fun and friendly, the training is quite serious and practical. It is hard to find teaching of this quality anywhere, much less in a small town at the edge of the North Shore. A true hidden gem.
Very nice place to train multiple styles. Family friendly and great for self defense.
