Chum Bucket and Capt. Steve are a great outfit. Trust me I have fished with some horrible charter boats/captains in the past. We have fished with Chum Bucket on multiple trips and have never been disappointed. We travel about 5 hours each way to fish with Capt. Steven. We have been winded out 1 time over the many trips, and I can tell you that when we saw the water that day, we were happy that Capt. Steven canceled. It would not have made for an enjoyable trip. All the other times the fishing has been great, with limit catches almost every time. Capt. Steve has some good recipes that he has shared so that you can enjoy eating the fish that you catch. Capt. Steve is awesome! Had a great time fishing with him. Very knowledgeable and ensures everyone has a safe and fun trip. Ignore the negative reviews about him cancelling a trip. If the weather is too windy hes going to cancel for safety. Wind on a lake equals waves. Waves equal a very unpleasant and unsafe time. Hes the captain. Its his call. Hes on this lake almost every day. He loves his job and wants to take people out.

Steve is a top class Captain who is always doing his homework trying to figure out where the fish are and what they are biting on. I cant recommend Chum bucket sport fishing highly enough as Ive been on many boats and Steve gave us our best experience yet. Nobody is more in tune with whats happening on the sunrise side more than Captain Steve. Great fisherman and great guy, we will definitely be going out again.

My son and I have fished with Captain Steve and he has never failed to put us on fish. He works hard to make sure your trip is enjoyable and his knowledge of the lake is second to none. We had to cancel our trip last year due to Covid-19 but cant wait to go again this year. If you want a hard working captain that keeps you in the fish then Captain Steve is the one to go to.

Steve told me this morning at 430 am that the trip was canceled due to high winds. Upon checking the weather myself I discovered 8mph winds, possibly gusting to 10mph.Not my idea of inclement weather. I asked for a refund of my deposit,so I could go find another way to fish today, but Im still waiting for a response. I am a business owner myself, and I would never treat a customer this way

Initially booked July 5th, a few weeks prior adjusted to July 2nd. Texted with organization the day prior. Drove 1.5 hours to boat, no captain. Brother and Law and two teens super bummed. I don’t question the captain saying too windy. What I do question is the fact they didn’t bother to phone us letting us know of tough seas. CAUTION: COMMUNICATION IS SHADY

Great trip. Great captain. Great fish. Cant wait to go again. This is a turn key trip. Dont think twice, just book it and go.

Both negative reviews were made by people who were scheduled to fish but didnt due to 20-30 MPH winds and I refused to take them out in rough and dangerous conditions. Safety is always my #1 priority.Mike Stone had 29 MPH east winds on his day.Brian Zabawa had 21 MPH northwest winds.

Bad chum bucket crusty crab better

My son and I went out on a morning trip with Captain Steve a day after some pretty rough weather. Captain Steve was very efficient and has high quality equipment. He put us on fish right away. The bite was light and we did lose a number of fish, but we ended up with walleye. Steelhead and lakers. Highly recommend. We got home a couple days later and used Steves brine recipe to smoke some of the lake trout. Delicious!

We went out with Capt. Steve for morning of catching. We caught our limit in about 3.5 hours and caught a variety of fish. Chum has clean boat, great equipment, and he knows his business. Highly recommend Chum Bucket if you are looking to catch fish.

The Captian is very well prepared and knows where to find the fish. Caught our limit in just a few hours. The Captian is an enjoyable person to spent time with on these beautiful Mi waters.

4/27/18 started off with rain capt Steve set in the parking lot with us for 2 hours till rain stopped. Got out about 12. Started off slow with 20 mph winds and 4-5 foot waves (white caps) but capt Steve went above and beyond to get us on the fish. Ended up with 13 nice fish. Paid for 6 hours ended up fishing for 71/2 hours trying to get us more fish. Had a great time and we will be back Thanks Steve!!

Went fishing with Chum Bucket last year in July. Already booked another with him in Sept this year. Lots of fun, and the capt knows how to put you on the fish!

Ive been out with Capt. Steve sunday made 4 times and he keeps beating my expectations and raising the bar. He works to put you on fish. And doesnt stop working until its time to head in. Great boat, super clean, and fun.i cannot recommend anyone more then i do Chumbucket sportfishing charters.
