The Peepsaccino was really good, and the eggs Benedict wasnt bad. I would have given this as a 4 or 5 star rating if it wasnt for the poor service. When we got to the diner, there werent many people there so we got a seat right away. We were able to place our order pretty quickly, but it took 45+ minutes for us to get our orders. In that time, our server didnt come to check on us once. It wasnt until after we got our food that she came back to ask if we wanted more water, anything else, etc. She acted as if it was a huge inconvenience that we were there. When we did finally get our food, business started picking up and there were a LOT of people waiting for a table, but she was acting that way before things got crazy. I know the food service industry right now is hard because places are understaffed and underpaid, but youd think someone working for a tip would want to be nicer to get a better tip. We were perfectly nice to our lady, said please and thank you and tried to be pleasant, but she never once smiled at us and like I said, just acted like it was a huge inconvenience when we asked for anything. The restaurant looked super nice and upscale, the prices were decent, but if you want to be treated nice or eat brunch in less than an hour and a half, this isnt the place to go.
Great atmosphere. Extra caring staff. They were very careful about making sure the get your order right
This was my first time dining at the Allentown location. It didnt start off well... Coffee was served in a dirty mug that had lipstick from the previous customer on it.It took at least 15 minutes to receive our drink order and I wasnt even asked if I wanted anything else to drink after I finished two glasses of fresh squeezed orange juice. I cant blame our waitress, though. She had a massive workload since she was basically waiting on every table in the dining room. The manager was walking around in a suit pointing and giving orders, but wasnt pitching in to help out. He couldve been walking around with a coffee pot filling cups to those waiting for refills. The food arrived room temperature and not even warm in the center. Panos Omelette and Opa Papa potatoes were bland. Berry Crunch French Toast was basically baguette logs that werent soaked long enough. Exterior was coated, but the inside was just plain bread.I give them two stars for presentation and menu creativity.
The food was good and the host/servers were very helpful and friendly. Everything on the menu looked very good. The poached eggs were over cooked, but overall the food was tasty. They had a long wait time to be seated, which is understandable on a busy weekend morning. But then there was an additional very long wait for our food to arrive. We were there between 1.5-2 hours total and only a party of three people...very long for a diner. So if you have somewhere to be, allow for extra time.
Today was the first time I went into Billys Diner. Really nice comfortable place pleasant staff. I had the Avocado Toast, cup of coffee and a glass of fresh squeezed orange juice. Best Avocado Toast I have had in the Lehigh Valley. The Zumix juice Machine puts out an exceptional glass of Juice. I would give this place 5 stars but a good cup of coffee really starts my day right and the coffee was not the best I have had. Not the worst but if the coffee had been the best it would have been an easy homerun. But will definitely return to this diner again and I strongly recommend if your in the downtown Allentown area you should stop by Billys.
Meh....Overall, not sure whats going on here but the whole experience wasnt good for the money. Billy may want to put a little more effort in here to ensure he will continue to have any customers.
Portions are terrible and the food is the same as your average diner so dont waste your time.
Love Billys downtown diner they have great combinations of breakfasts and lunch menus The food is always excellent. Nice atmosphere quick service good service highly recommend it!!
Very disappointing they canceled our Door Dash order 40 mins after accepting it. This is unacceptable behavior.
I give this spot two thumbs up. It has a great feel to it. Feels similar to a restaurant in Philadelphia that I enjoyed visiting.
When I pay $2.59 for a cranberry let’s at-least put it in a 12 oz glass not a child’s glass people . And secondly, if I wanted a glass of ocean spray I would’ve went to the farmers market down the street from my aunt Jerry’s #overit. Cinnamon burger, I didn’t even taste yet but it’s probably great #blessed
I dont understand why I cant talk to anybody on the phone. I cant even place a order for pick up. It just rings and when I try to do grubhub, it throws me to downtown eats, which is not the same thing. So I guess you cant get delivery or pickup. Heck I dont even know if there still open even though they say they are. Shame becuase this place has good food. Whoever the owner is, is not very concerned about business.UPDATE:!! I just called Bethlehem downtown diner and they said since the allentown one is inside one of the buildings that allentown owns. Becuase of this bs covid they shut them down. They are not open at all, but the Bethlehem one is. So idky they say there open becuase they are not. 2020 blows
I meet with friends this great spot quite a bit! This is my favorite spot to grab a bite. I go there routinely. The meals are excellent, the staff members are welcoming and the charge is fair. I like eating in this restaurant for a decent meal.
Visited with my Mom and my 6 year old neice. A very nice outing. The host-manager was very kind and our waitress was such a sweetie and attentive. My Mom enjoyed her meal, as did my niece. Definitely will visit again.
The atmosphere seems a bit uppity for the area but I cant argue with the food giving one star because since Covid it seems they are closed but have not updated any of their marketing to reflect that. And their number doesnt even have a voicemail box very frustrating..
Great and creative breakfast dishes. Lunch items looked amazing as well. Staff were all very friendly and courteous. Would come here again any time Im in town.
First time dining at Billy’s.First appearance was impressive: Finely lit, good decor, nice atmosphere. Was seated at a dirty table. We had to wipe up. Counter which was decorated nicely was dirty. The floor was covered from crumbs, food, napkins. No attempt to clean. Came at a non busy time on a Sunday afternoon. Plenty of time for the manager and wait staff to stand around freely.Food was good. Soup was just warm enough. Sandwich was good.Waitress was nice enough. One of the waitresses dropped dishes. Manager just stood there telling her what she should have done instead. No attempt at assisting her.We mentioned to the manager the dirty appearance and he’s response was that he is not allowed to clean in front of the customers per owner and that the dirty ledge was a Sunday job for staff. That’s a shame since the dirty appearance was very hard to get past during our dining experience. Would have rather some attempt at a clean appearance rather then standing around staff.
The place is closed
The vibe of this place was great. Well lit, nice decor and ambiance, good location...However, the service was *extremely* poor.We felt like we were inconveniencing our server by asking for routine items. No refills on coffee until we asked. Food came out cold. Didnt want to correct a mistake by the kitchen for fear that the food would never come back.Wed go back if they fixed the service.
Being vegan it’s hard finding food at diners to eat sometimes but here they have VEGAN RED VELVET PANCAKES😋❤️ They were so good! Best pancakes I’ve ever had! The staff is super friendly and the atmosphere is so relaxing. Will definitely be coming back!
This place is very elegant and the service is amazing. I went there with my best friend and we had a great time and our breakfast was amazing. Great job Billys!
I had a very delicious omlette with bacon and the food was delicious! The environment is very cozy and laid back. The service was great!
The food was good. The waitress was sweet, but had a wedding party to attend to. They sat us in the middle of the tables of the group, and it took us forever to get our check. They didnt bring us water. Did not bring the change.
Allentown location. Same menu as Bethlehem. Much nicer venue, more room, less noise. Food reliably good and cooks ate flexible for including/excluding ingredients. Wait staff pleasant, efficient and professional.
I used to love coming here, I haven’t been here in a long time. Boy have things changed. I was really disappointed with everything. The food the service was just awful. If I could rate this place a zero I would. My rating went from 5 stars to -5. Won’t be coming back. What a disappointment to what Billy’s used to be 3-4 years ago.
Modern, imaginative takes on diner classics. Well prepared and presented plates. Both sweet and savory dishes that will get your interest!
I give the Bethlehem location 5 stars. Service and food are always great. The Allentown location gets 2 stars. Went there one time and wont go back. We went during a time when no one else was really there (I saw one other table with people) and it took a long time to get our food. When we did get it, it wasnt hot. There was also a lipstick stain on my husbands coffee cup. You could wipe it away with a napkin. Pretty gross. When we told the waitress she didnt apologize or seem to care. Not great customer service.
When you have a good thing sometimes its best to leave it alone. Waited for seating no one at front. Manager office door was open he was on the phone snapping at someone. Then someone went into his office he snapped at that person. We got there at 10:30 ordered at 10:48 two breakfast and one burger was told we had to wait because the burger was lunch and it didnt start till 11. We didnt get our food until 11:21 and my French toast was cold and smothered in Nutella. New digs but something is definitely off now and did the prices go up. I love Billys will give it another try.
Chef Jeff is the greatest! Food was awesome! Employees very friendly and helpful! Well be back!
Online says theyre open, went and theyre closed.
One of our favorite spots to go. So glad you are open again. Food was amazing as always and our waitress Monique was incredible. A big thumbs up!
The food took forever to come out. When we sat down, another table did right beside us. The server didnt write down our orders and I even said to the person I was with that something would come out wrong. Sure enough, my potatoes did. And a slice of cheese on home fries is just plain lazy. It wasnt even deli cheese. Just an old-fashioned square of what looks like the kind that are individually wrapped. I had the huevos rancheros and it wasnt very good. Too many beans, the avocado wasnt ripe, and it just felt like it was a lazy execution overall. Definitely not worth the price or wait time.
I am not from the area so I used Google to find a diner. Billys was rated the best and now I know why. Back in town the next week and went back again. I went to 2 different locations and both the food and the service were amazing.
We used to love coming to Billy’s in Bethlehem and Allentown. Last three times we have come to Allentown location we have been consistently disappointed. Service is always slow and you have to ask for everything silverware, straws, etc... the food also has been disappointing. Cold fries, French toast couldn’t even cut with a steak knife, eggs Benedict over cooked to name a few. Kept coming back hoping it was a fluke but this is our last. Heartbreaking to say the least.
I loved that Billys opened this location in Allentown, however the dining experience that I had today was way below par. To start, my friend and I got there at 1:30 pm, after the lunch rush was over, and waited at least 15 minutes before anyone even stopped by to take our drink order. We placed our orders and waited at least another 20 minutes until our food came out. The restaurant was not busy at all, and when we finally did receive our food it was cold, and they forgot the side dish that my friend ordered. The food clearly had been done for a while and had just been sitting there before it was brought over to us. I ordered a melt sandwich and fries, which were both cold, as well was my friends omelet. We were never able to mention that the side that was forgotten, because our server never came back until we were finished with our meals and came to bring us the check. We had empty water glasses from just after we started to eat..no one ever came around to check on our meal, let alone refill our water. They did remove the side from the bill since they forgot it. When we went to the front counter to pay, the girl working there didnt even greet us. She grabbed my card, ran it, and returned the card to me by sliding it on the counter without even looking at me. She didnt say hello, ask us how everything was, or even goodbye. We did not complain, but I can safely say that we will never return to the Allentown Billys. The service was absolutely terrible, and I cant even say anything positive about the food since it was completely cold when we finally received it.
I wouldnt call this a diner. Its an upscale bistro and the food is excellent. Just be prepared to pay a higher price then the typical dinner.
Ive been here a few times. The food is pretty good, but the service is almost always slow. One time with a large group (~12 people), we waited over an hour for our food. Yesterday as a party of two, we waited half an hour. If you have the time and a good friend to talk to, Id recommend it. But if youre short on time, find somewhere else.
Incredible brunch which started with a warm greeting from Rich who guided us to the bar area where Shanae took over delivering some delicious coffee and brunch. Highly recommend the Havana omelette if you are a meat lover, great Keto option.Great to chat with Rich afterwards as well about the restaurant and community!
Good food great service, waitress was plesant and fixed my friends food with no question. Just needed to be cooked longer, no big. And the OJ is worth the price.
Food was excellent but the service questionable.Monday morning and background music so loud it made conversation difficult.Asked waitress if she could turn the music down just a bit, but never happened..But the food was why we were there and it was perfect..Not really a diner in the traditional sense, more an upscale breakfast place..
Good food. Nice clean place downtown. But pricey.
Delicious food and excellent service. My only complaint was that there were so many dishes that I would love to try! Ill just have to come back more times to have them all! Thank you again
I gave this place two chances since it was across from my hotel. The ambience is great, and its a very clean restaurant, which I appreciate. I sat at the counter both days: Day 1 - I received great, attentive service; Day 2 - I had to watch waitresses pass me by for 10 minutes before I could order water and coffee.Besides the 50/50 service, the food just doesnt have much flavor. The first day, I ordered the Zip City Benedict... for $14, you would expect a plate full of savory, delicious food. Instead, I found myself pouring salt and pepper on the plate just to taste it (and I never use salt and pepper.)Day 2, I ordered Panos Omelette. The same thing here with flavor, and my eggs were actually kind of cold. Like theyd been sitting there for a while.Ultimately, this place was disappointing.
Great atmosphere, staff and delicious food! Loved it, will definitely be back again!
I visit Billys at least once a month, sometimes more. My friends and I meet for breakfast on a regular basis and this is our place. The decor is really cool, and I love the music that they play. Not a typical diner. Great food and friendly servers!
Food was delicious. The only thing that has changed is that you no longer pay at the register. The waitress/waiter takes the bill
Best breakfast in the Valley with excellent omelettes and specials. Worth coming into town even if you arent planning on it for anything else. Outdoor seating is great too!
The food is always great and that’s what keeps me coming, however it is not consistent and made different each time, but the service sucks. For starters I sat for 10 minuets before anyone took my order. My friend and I literally had to take utensils from another table, the waitress took our order while walking away and didn’t give us any attention. No interaction at all. Did not ask how we like our food, nothing. This has happened to me multiple time visiting here .
Fun environment. Pricey, but eclectic food options with some traditional diner menu items. Would go again.
Food is always good however our waitress sucked, no manners or courtesy, she checked on us once and then left our check on the table without saying anything or asking if we needed any boxes. I had to get up and ask the manager for one. Over all food is good service needs to improve.
Me and one other person waited an hour for our food. dishes were great, aside for the fact that my french toast tasted OVERWHELMINGLY like eggs. nice servers, but poor service.
The food is good in all but they need to hurry up a little bit
I struggled between giving this 2 stars and 4 stars based on several experiences at Billys. I settled on 3, though its usually been either good or bad-- not just okay. The food is pretty good (just a little better than what you would expect from a diner), but the wait times are often very long-- especially during lunch. On two occasions, my colleagues and I sat at a table unnoticed outside for about 20 minutes before deciding to leave and go down the street. I think most patrons go to a diner for quick service, so this is a critical pain-point.The atmosphere is nice and very clean, though Billy has lots of pictures of himself. Lots. Even these weird, potato-quality cell phone pictures with ambiguous B or C-list celebrities. To me, it feels a bit... narcissistic.
Food was good as always but the service not so much, I’ve had this waitress before and the same service and just assumed she was having a bad day (which is no excuse but as a server I understand you just have bad days and can’t help it at times). After having her for a second time I’ve come to the realization that that is just how she is. My friend and I were greeted in a timely manner but very quietly and awkwardly as if she did not want to take care of us, we got our drinks and placed our order and got our food all in about 15-20 min so not bad at all. About 2 min after we got our meals our server gives us our check, does not ask how our food was, does not offer refills (my friends glass was completely empty), does not ask if we need anything else. Just drops the check and asks if we wanted it spilt instead. I felt like the server did not want to take care of us and just wanted to get us out of there, half way through meal a manger came up to us and she seemed much more pleasant and happy to be at work than our server did. If it wasn’t for the food or the manager or the fact that I saw other servers being much more attentive and pleasant to their tables I would rate this experience at a 0.
Holy. Crap.Food here is unbelievably good. Serving sizes are plentiful and the atmosphere is very clean and relaxed. I loved this place. Absolutely must stop here if given the chance.
I absolutely love this place!! I enjoy the fresh squeezed orange juice. Staff are polite and respectful. Service is very fast. I have never waited for a seat. I also enjoy the outdoor seating!! I will remain a customer forever! As long as the service remains the same!!
Pretty good food. Really busy so took a long time to get seated and the waitress was a little forgetful. Nice tho
The food is always good but the service could be a bit quicker. I just plan to take a little extra time when Im there.
There shrimp alfredo was so yummy and there soups are really good too
“Couldve been nice”I joined 5 other friends here for Sunday breakfast before heading over to the Allentown Art Museum. I was optimistic about finding a good place to eat close to the museum. Upon entering it Looked like a nice place.
Great atmosphere, very clean, staff seemed to be trying to do a good job but it really took forever to get our food. It was 30 min before anyone even came to take our drink order and it was about an hour before we got our food.
Delicious food. Omg, I cant describe the amazing taste of the food. Definitely going back. Service was friendly & fast.
Great food! The hostess was great and the overall staff was very friendly. Would recommend.
Billys has been under construction in Center City and I am a sad, sad panda!I work overnight and my coworker and I have become breakfast connoisseurs of sorts, grabbing a bite wherever we can on our way out. Billys has been a favourite of ours for a lot of reasons. The servers are all super sweet and take good care of us every time. The decor has been clean and lovely and its nice to look out their enormous windows and see the city wake up and start the morning bustle. Everything I or the other members of my party have had there has been stop you in your tracks and go Mmmm! out loud delicious, and their menu is always full of unique variations of diner and breakfast classics. Several party members and I have gone to Billys with different dietary needs (red meat allergy, diabetes, celiac disease, etc.) and there are always multiple choices for us in terms of whats available. As soon as theyre back open for business I will be there!
Excellent food, slow service
The home fries were a huge letdown. They only have sugar/Splenda for coffee, so if you use some other sweetener, carry your own. The coffee was good, and my lox bagel was excellent. Most of the food looked very sweet and my friends complained that the eggs were also bland.
Indifferent service (at best). Imaginative menu, but the execution was lacking. Expected better given the prices. I had the coconut french toast. 3 towers of baguette with some sort of cream cheese frosting in the middle, covered with coconut and strawberries. Would have been MUCH better with thin slices of bread rather than 4 long sections of a loaf of bread. Was seated next to the constantly slamming door to the patio. Ive never stray from City Center again!
Food is amazing. Had the cinnamon bun Bacon burger. Decided to try something odd for the first time and it was actually really good. Menu has alot I want to try. Definitely gonna go back to try more. 4 stars only because they the hosts arent organized, and the food took long.
Although havent been recently, for years Ive loved Billys..., however, I know hes made changes & I didnt like last breakfast. Havent had reason to go back, however, we*tend Billy. See what he says, & he WILL want 2 here your feelings.
The hot chocolate was yummy. The food was fresh, hot and tasty. Place was clean. Will definitely go back.
Very nice place but the food is just ok
Good food. Fast service but we were there right before a rush. Our waitress was great!
This place use to be really good, not sure what happened. Portions were considerably smaller than last time, were missing items and tasted blander from previous visits. We have been here a number of times before and today really disappointed and it seemed as if it didnt matter by the employees. Always looked forward to going back, now, not so sure.
We went for breakfast on weekday. Not busy so we didn’t wait too long. Food is great just a little bit pricey. But if you want to sit and talk, this place is convenient and nice!
Always good food in a fun atmosphere. Open for breakfast and lunch its an Allentown institution.
First I would like to mention, don’t expect to walk in on a Sunday morning and get a seat on time. Me and my wife waited a half hour to get seated (which is understandable); but to go inside and wait another 30mins to an hour was a test for patience, and luckily we had some patience. The waitress only interacted with us when asking for our orders, and after my first bite, and after we left. Other than that, she treated us like we didn’t exist until she had to deal with us.
Service is typically good. prices were decent.
Very inclusive menu, food is good. service is pretty good.
Always a pleasure stepping into Billys. Food is always on point and there are so many options. Now, even a vegan option for breakfast!
Arrived 12:30 on a Saturday. Mostly full but we got a table for 2 within 5 mins. Excellent service- out within an hour with plenty of time to get to Symphony Hall for 2:00 show. Food very good, too.
Loved it and havent been since the remodel until a few weeks ago. Regret it and will not be going back. Servers are nice but take a very long time taking orders and checking on the tables. It was fairly empty too so not sure why it was a disappointing visit. We dont plan to return as the food has go e downhill. Gave 2 because the menu has decent iptions and when the food gets to you hot it can be good. It is also pricey for a diner 5 dollars for a pancake and 5 dollars for 3 scrambled eggs is a bit much.
Very nice atmosphere and the Breakfast had me all smiles😁 .
Good food but service needs improvement.
This place took a down hill slide... Used to love it, but had a less than stellar breakfast yesterday... Scrambled eggs were over cooked, French toast had unmixed eggs on it. Eggs Benedict was over cooked(yolk was almost cooked all the way through) and frankly it looked like it was not poached but rather cooked in a fryer. And everything tasted either bland or not great. Doubt I will be coming here again.
Unique menu, good atmosphere, friendly staff. Soup was too salty, but was taken care of by management. Would recommend.
The food was very good, it came out exactly as I orderd. The server had a sense of humor and was accommodating. And lastly, the atmosphere is fantastic, both inside and outside.
I love everything about Billys. good food, modern decor, friendly staff. Cabot wabe omelette my favorite with fruit instead of potatoes with a side of salsa.
I had to send my blueberry pancakes back because the werent fully cooked but they were very nice about it a took it off the bill. I would give them another chance.
