Super cool people here. Very impressed with the knowledge of each of the trainers. Very focused on correct technique for every lift. So welcoming, it can be intimidating to go to a new gym and the gym nuts get scary, it makes you want to just sleep in instead of working out. This place is not that! Just a bunch of people of all ages that want to get fit, feel good, and have fun doing it.
Im a 68 y/o retired nurse who works out everyday there. You start with a 6 week unisex boot camp. This boot camp provides you with a nutrition primer. It also tea hes you the correct way to lift and do strength training. During this 6 weeks you do strength training and a workout. If you need modifications they help you with them. After the 6 weeks you begin coming to any of the classes we have. We are an extremely friendly gym, people look out for one another and are there to ask questions. Each class has a very qualified trainer who watches and corrects your form during the hour workout. Each hour has both strength training and a workout. Yoga and physical therapy is also available at the gym. I have worked out there for three years and love what I do there as well as the people, they are my family.😊😊
A great place for a great workout! The trainers are always helpful in pushing me to achieve my next workout goal in a way thats both safe and challenging. My classmates root each other on and there just overall awesome people who come here every day!
Get fit or go home! Ive asked a lot of questions during my 6 Week Challenge. The instructor is willing to provide an answer with body technique demonstrations. Its an easy atmosphere.
This gym has different programs for weightlifting, CrossFit, and boot camps throughout the year and is very flexible with your schedule and has really helpful trainers to help you succeed with your different goals. Definitely check it out in person for yourself!
What can I say about this awesome place?! About a year ago I was looking to try CrossFit and was introduced to Sandia CrossFit by a friend. Ill never forget my first class as the trainer and all the regular members were very welcoming and helpful. I had so much fun with the workout and the people that I just kept coming back. I look forward to working out at Sandia pretty much every day. Its such a great community, the workouts are tough, but fun. I always leave feeling accomplished and stronger than ever before!
Dropped In during the Balloon Fiesta - what a great group. Very friendly folks and helpful coaches. The workout was a struggle - the elevation made it worse - but it was really well planned. I’d definitely go back.
If youve got tiny T-Rex arms, Sandia Crossfit can help you with that! Great coaches, laid back atmosphere, and most welcoming members! Recommend a membership for sure.
Charming environment where excellence is cultivated like produce on a sustainable pesticide-free organic farm. The trainers are artists who pour their souls into their craft like Hemingway, agonizing over precisely the right way to communicate and instruct every student.
Love the people who workout here. Love the coaches. Love the gym and the programming! Best place to drop in!
I started with the 6week boot camp and it was awesome I then decided to join. The coaches really work with you and everyone is very friendly you don’t feel intimidated. I love CrossFit.
Best trainers in the business! Programming is awesome and has been keeping me coming back for 3 years.
Drop in, felt very welcome. Great trainers and environment. I was struggling with elevation change. Everyone at box very encouraging. Thanks so much. Will be back when in town.
I joined Sandia Crossfit when I moved to Abq 2 years ago, and it was the best decision I made. If I had not come, I would have probably failed at any fitness goals and been much unhealthier. I started in the boot camp, which simultaneously teaches the basics of weightlifting and crossfit movement techniques while not being overwhelming for a beginner. The class itself is well-programmed to be challenging for anyone at any level - the trainers give plenty of scaling options, and are super willing to accomodate more specific needs (i.e. I sprained my wrist [not by doing crossfit] and they gave me movements to do that would keep me from using my wrist but would still target all muscle groups). They offer a variety of programs, and unlike most boxes they are focused on a more holistic version of fitness - they have a program specifically for Olympic lifting, but they also include Oly training as a staple in their regular programming on top of Metcons. The trainers are super attentive during class, watching you to make sure you dont injure yourself, and are very willing to give you one-on-one attention to improve your technique. The people that attend are very friendly and relaxed, but if youre the type of person who just wants to work out and be anti-social (me) they also respect that.Highly recommended for drop-ins (if you ask, youll get lots of suggestions for cool local things to do if youre visiting) and highly recommended for membership as the team are very focused on getting you to your end goals. As a side note, SCF also is home to the Coolest Barbell Club Ever, who participate in local and national Olympic Weightlifting competitions. Its a ton of fun - check it out!
Waste of money and waste of time. I was neglected because trainers were on their phones, and I hurt my back. They cant handle the responsibility of honest business. I wasnt looking for people to hang out with or a second family... Im convinced that some of them only keep going because theyre brain washed and actually think that theyre family. I will NEVER pay to be sexualized and ostracized there again.
Great group of people. Super friendly, yet competitive. Awesome drop-in experience!
It was a mistake to come to this gym. The entire time, I felt as if I was dealing with 16-year-old girls trapped in adult bodies. Theyre incredibly callous if they decide youre not worth their energy (well, some of them). There are other gyms with better communities in Albuquerque.
Great workout! A very friendly and comfortable environment! A 5 star place.
Great place. Not many in the downtown area. So this is so convenient.
I love Sandia Crossfit!! The trainers are incredibly friendly, knowledgable and attentive! Ive truly gained an awesome, motivating and fun community while adapting a muuuch healthier lifestyle since joining. :)
Love this place!! Awesome, knowledgeable trainers, excellent facilities and equipment, great comraderie!
Ive been a member of this box for a little over 4 months now and Im more than happy with my decision to join the Sandia family. The coaches are skilled, knowledgeable and approachable with a keen attention to detail and a level of instruction that will greatly improve your movements over time. The members are a great group of people from all walks of life who are friendly, interesting and cheer for you every step of the way whether youre a pro, beginner or somewhere in between. Most importantly, everyones also completely hilarious. Its a complete judge-free zone where every one at every level can develop, flourish and have fun with fitness with extras like challenges, seminars and socials. The class schedule is robust enough to ensure that you can fit a workout into your schedule, at a price that promises to fit your budget, in a box thats spacious and well equipped. If youre new to crossfit, looking to do a drop-in or searching for a new crossfit home, Sandia Crossfit is the place to be! 🙂
I chose Sandia Crossfit because of their sense of humor. Made the right choice! Really not an athlete and came to Crossfit overweight and in my late 40s. Coaches are very helpful and patient with me while I learn and they provide modifications for things Im not strong enough to do. The other people are very encouraging to me as well even though Im consistently the last one finished. Give it a try. Even if youre feeling scared and intimidated like I was. Youve got nothing to lose and lots to gain (energy, confidence, and friends).
Welcoming people, great coaches, and nice facilities. Just awesome all around.
Best CrossFit gym in town. A great community, and great coaches who are knowledgable and always assisting. Wether you are a beginner or expert, this is the CrossFit gym to attend.
My wife and I dropped in one morning unannounced while in albuquerque for the balloon festival. We both felt comfortable and welcome by the nice people at sandia crossfit. Neither of us are high level athletes but they managed to teach us how to arm wrestle cobras. Only gave 4 stars to put a little dirt on the polish so you know its a legit review.
The trainers are HOTT. The gym is LIT!
I tried the 5 week challenge.. and it was a waste of my money.. the trainers are not good and they careless of what your goal is. I just attended for 2 weeks and stopped going.
So, I had left a review under the old listing (before they moved to the new location). Matt and Zach own, in my opinion, one of the best gyms in Albuquerque. They bring the right mixture of snarkiness and motivation to get you through a workout. In addition to hosting normal CrossFit programming, they also have monthly and seasonal events. Things like Paleo Challenges, and in-house competitions that sponsor charities. As an example they allowed me to conduct a Burpee Challenge for the Green Beret Foundation, and provided plenty of heckling (as well as donations), and made the classes do burpees with me in a show of solidarity. If you are on the fence about joining a CrossFit gym (Box) due to the typical douchy attitude you get at a lot of facilities, have no fear at Sandia CrossFit. Testosterone is left at the door, and the atmosphere is welcoming and supportive for people of all ages and fitness levels.
Great team of trainers.
Magical wonderland of fitness
