Had to bring my long-time furry best friend in when her old-age symptoms finally became too much for a good quality of life because my regular Vet wouldnt make an appt. for me. Rivers Edge staff was very empathetic, efficient and professional. Although the euthanasia experience is difficult, the staff made the experience more tolerable and were supportive. Will be switching to have them be the primary vet. for my other animals
We took our cat there spent over 600 for a urinary track infection. They put him on a special diet. The lady who brought him to the car said here is the special prescription food. Told us how to order it online, because they dont always have it in stock. Yes and even told us do this before you run out because it can take time.I kept getting my order online canceled. My husband was supposed to call them and ask what the heck. I asked him where it was and he had forgotten. Understandable can not blame anyone these days. So I called and left a message. When I received the call back. (first let me tell you I understand everyone is attitude driven these days) What happened to wanting to help? And I was on a recording zoom call and was on speaker phone. My company was shocked. The female who called me back was so rude. First she kept going, I dont have you as a patient. I was like well you sure had my card.Well the number I called doesnt bring anything up. I gave her my husband number... Oh thats because you were an ER patient. Can I come get the prescription. No... You have to go to your vet, and they can get the records from us. So I had to pay 600, but I then have to go pay for a vet visit. Which that is fine, but it takes time to get a vet appointment. Then you have to order the food. Thank goodness my vet is amazing and gave me an alternative.I will let everyone know. If you care about your animal do not go to an office that only care about money, and do not teach customer service.
Over charged and told we needed a fully sedated surgery for lacerations on her side that were easily patched up using Staples and flush by another vet Clinic. After multiple attempts at charging us through the roof, I began to feel more like I was paying a randsom to get my pup back, than antibiotics for $159.00. it wasnt until calling 30 minutes after my initial check in that I was then put on hold, and left there until someone finally came out to speak to me or see my dog.I do not recommend this place at all, and wont be surprised if they start to charge for parking.
After calling 12 other vets/emergency vets from Portland down to Albany and being told they were full or had a 6+ hour wait, River’s Edge was happy to accommodate me and my cat. I called ahead and very soon after I pulled up they had me fill out some forms and took my cat in for his exam. The veterinarian came out to explain what he thought the situation was and what next steps to take. All the staff was very patient and took the time to fully understand what was going on. I cannot recommend this place enough, they even called several days later to check up on how my cat was doing.
The team was amazing and got my dog in for an urgent care visit. I appreciate the great communication while waiting curb side and she was treated so fast. I was advised ahead of time there would be a wait if an emergency came in. ( I would want an urgent pet to go ahead of my dog with an ear infection.) We received great aftercare documentation and directions. Highly recommend them for your pets needs.
I’ve taken my cats here several times now in the last couple of months. While the wait time is usually pretty slow, the techs and vets are absolutely phenomenal.I’ve had to bring my cat in at 2AM after it was attacked, and they were compassionate and caring. My cat was seen immediately, and treated accordingly. They followed up the next couple of days as well to check on her.Because of COVID, the pet owners are restricted to their car, but on two separate occasions, the vet himself came out and explained, in detail, how the appointment went. The pricing here is actually pretty reasonable as well. Once, I was estimated $1200, but was reimbursed $450 for treatment that was not needed.I would absolutely recommend this facility, 100%, to anybody.
Dr. Holloman and Rivers Edge staff took care of my 12 1/2 year old lab on an emergency basis last week. Everyone I interacted with, from receptionist to assistants, to the doctor herself were compassionate, professional and extremely helpful. I would recommend their services to anyone.
Nothing but good words for this place. If it was closer to me, I would use them as my normal vet. I took my dog to them on emergency because my current vet hasnt returned my calls. The staff was so kind. They made sure I was educated and understood all of my options and several weeks later, I have had no trouble contacting them. You will not regret taking your animal here, as they will receive the greatest care.
Cant say enough good. This was my first experience and it was an emergency one. My emergency vet in Corvallis was out 12 hours and my dog had a possible obstruction. They were so caring and nice my Nurse Angel was fantastic and the Dr super sweet as well. Thank you so much my little guy is my baby thanks for helping him from the bottom of my heart
Took my cat in with respiratory problem. It was after hours and the staff was wonderful. They were friendly, efficient and professional. They examined her and gave us antibiotics. They didnt request any additional tests.Cheaper than I thought it would be. Rachel and Dr. Gray were wonderful. Two days after the appointment they called to see how she was doing! A friend drove me there and he was so impressed he is going to take his animals there. Thank you!
River’s Edge used to have top quality care. Not anymore. They are understaffed, and their concern for the comfort and well being of our pet caused us to be very upset. The doc, while knowledgeable, was very cold and seemed to put the actual patient, out pet, at the bottom of his priority list.
So grateful for the staff and Dr that were able to see our black lab Harley around 130 am with such short notice. The Dr and staff were very caring and patient as I was very stressed and the Dr was also very good at keeping me calm while taking care of our precious dog. Thank you again Dr and staff for being there for us at any hour🤍
The staff at this clinic are very thoughtful and caring. The fees are more than reasonable. I would highly recommend them for all of your pets medical needs.
I read through the reviews and was a little nervous because there are some bad ones; however I had a great experience. I live in Eugene, but the emergency vet was not taking patients and referred me here. I will most likely drive the extra distance from now on. I got here early and they checked my did in right away. I was there for about 1 1/2 hours which is OUTSTANDING for an emergency visit in my opinion. The staff was very friendly.
We brought our Savannah in at 11:30 pm and they took great care of him. They had to do surgery for an absess and they kept him overnight. They sent us home the next day with everything that we needed and very thorough instructions. They later removed the drain tube and then the stitches and every interaction that we had with the staff here was great. Though this was an emergency vet visit for us, I think that we have found a new vet for both of our fur kids.
A big shout out to Rivers End. Our little Tilly was so sick over Christmas. We took her there and yes, the wait was long, but the staff was wonderful. I dont think folks realize how difficult their job is in normal times. Add COVID and things get a whole lot worse. I cant tell you how many trips the techs made to the parking lot to update us, get consents, give aftercare instructions. They were so patient and kind. Tilly is much better thanks to them.
Please take your business elsewhere, I would recommend any other vet clinic. They are overwhelmed and do not care if you do go elsewhere, in fact I was told that by whomever answers the phone. My three cats have been patients at this vet clinic for about 3 years. I’ve never had issues with them until recently. Today I was spoke over, yelled at, and hung up on when I expressed feeling disappointed in how I was being treated just trying to get my cat help. I’m so disappointed in how unprofessional the person I spoke with was I will be taking all of my cats elsewhere and letting all of my family and friends know to do the same. What a shame Rivers Edge.
Had an life or death emergency and they got us in upon arrival and skipped the wait due to the nature of the emergency with our cat. preformed emergency surgery to solve his problem. Unlike Willamette which gave us and 12 hr wait time which probably would result in death. Thankfully they know what actual emergencies are and help the most in need. The prices are what they are it’s never gonna be cheap but the speed and quality was great and they overestimated costs so it’s was $600 cheaper than quoted.
They got my cat (who had never been seen there before) in for an emergency visit last minute. Did the tests and exam I was hoping for and did an estimate of each procedure before moving forward. Very reasonable rates for emergency services.
Unfortunately I had to put my big boy to sleep recently. They were extremely courteous and paitent with me even though I couldnt keep it together. They all made this sad transition a lot easier and I was able to be with my baby until he crossed.
Thank you for making the time/appt you didnt have so I could put my 20 year old cat down today and end her pain and let me be there with her during covid restriction. You were all very considerate.
This clinic is wonderful! We adopted a cat and she had some issues that we brought her in for and the staff and the doctor were very friendly and informative and have supported us through all health issues. We live in salem but make the drive to albany because their care and concern for our four legged family members is amazing.
My cat needed emergency surgery after ingesting a string. They were able to do the surgery the same day and he recovered very quickly. The doctors are all very knowledgeable and will do what is in the best interest for your pet. Having them around 24/7 is such a relief as a pet parent!
I had to bring my cat in late one night. They caught the problem right away and took care of it. My sweet guy is recovering at home thanks to their great care. They never got irritated with me calling to check in on him and they were very understanding. If he had to be at the vet for emergency surgery Im glad I found them.
Doctor was great when I went he worked with my budget he didnt try to take me for a ride or anything like that on what needed to be done he did want to do some tests that I could not afford and he actually worked around him so I would say if he can work around them perfect and I still have my baby girl
Took our 3 years old, healthy dog to vet on Thursday, for swelling on his snout/nose.Cost about 300 dollars for the visit, they thought it was probably a bee/wasp sting.Saturday night, he began bleeding from his mouth, took him back to vet Sunday morning.According to the vet, there is some irritation or a wound in his mouth (guess they didnt look the first time) and he needs to be sedated to have a look-see.To do this little procedure they want over $3000.00 dollars. I wish they had told us upfront that they are insane. We would have taken our pet to a real veterinarian.
I brought my kitten (Oliver) here when I first got him because at the time River’s Edge was the only place capable of seeing him. Plus it wasnt that far from where I was living at the time. I did not expect them to be so great!!! They saw him absolutely free because of the circumstances, and were so amazing with him. I was going to make them his primary vet but I moved soon after 42 minutes away due to extenuating circumstances. But I brought Oliver there again yesterday (again because they were the only vet capable of seeing him) and I was really glad because once again they did an AMAZING job. Per usual. They got him in and out surprisingly fast too considering all the tests they had to run on him, and all the monitoring to ensure he tolerated the meds thereafter. Plus for emergency services, and for the amount of work they did with him…the price was super incredibly affordable. They even remembered Oliver from when he was just 6 weeks old and had a completely different name 💖 I really wish I wasnt so far away from them because man are they just freaking fantastic and I would totally make them Ollie’s primary vet if I could. That being said, it was so very completely worth the drive. I seriously cant praise this place enough!!! Thank you, Rivers Edge, for being so wonderful 💖🐾
They got us right in and were able to diagnose my dog problems quickly and send us home with a piece of mind.
Unfortunately my puppy had a broken leg and they wouldn’t set and pin it with how young he was. They said he needed emergency surgery to give him the best hope of no complications later in life and that I had to find a certified doctor to do the surgery. That’s all well and good but, they refused to give me a recommendation and refused to refer me to a vet who could give me a answer. They sent me home with pain killers for my pup and told me he needed surgery as soon as possible and to have a nice day.
Worst experience ever. Obviously we are there at 1 am because it is an EMERGENCY. Tech we had was beyond rude. Let us know 3 x how she was not happy to be working on her day off. No concern for our baby. Left us with no answers for 2 hours. Basically horrible experience and finally at 3.5 hours she dropped our baby thru the window like a sack of potatoes.
Its understandable that weekend vets - emergency clinics - are more expensive than a regular vet. But it should be about more than the money. Our pup was given back to us after a blockage surgery when she still wasnt eating, and with a catheter with a 3 foot tube still attached to it in her leg. I didnt think anything of it until one of our regular vets techs told me that she took it out because it was bad and then watched her replace it and leave only the catheter, no tubing, securely nestled and wrapped in medical tape. We were told that there were complications on the table and that she had lost blood pressure a couple of times - when we took her back because she still wasnt eating two days later they charged us over $800 for monitoring on a weekday during normal business hours. When I transferred her to our normal vet for continued monitoring and care at his request the next day, we paid less than $200 for roughly the same amount of time. In less than a day he was able to sleuth out what was wrong with her, something they had not been able to do since she woke up from surgery almost a week prior. Maybe if Rivers Edge would have investigated why she lost blood pressure when it happened she wouldnt have come home as a vegetable and had to be put to sleep a week later. Maybe not. Regardless, if you absolutely have to go to an emergency vet - pick one in Salem. Or Corvallis. Youre going to sit in the parking lot for hours before Rivers Edge comes to get your pet anyway. May as well make the drive to a more reputable vet.
This was the best experience in a bad situation I had.I had a Goat in need if emergency care, and Dr. Gray came in for me.While the end result was sad, her knowledge and kindness made all the difference.I highly recommend these guys.K.McDowell
Although I spent most of the day in the parking lot awaiting the fate of our seriously ill cat, considering the continuous flow of patients, it was understandable. Off and on throughout the day, as various tests were administered to determine what to do for Scruffy, Dr. Hayes spoke with me knowledgeably, clearly and compassionately about options and outcomes. The decision to have this sweet Bombay cat rescue put down was a difficult one, but Dr. Hayes earned my trust and this was her recommendation. I was able to pet and love Scruffy until he peacefully went to sleep forever. I should add that staff was also competent and friendly. I received a sweet sympathy card from Dr. Hayes yesterday. I am grateful she was on call that day.
This was the third office our puppy went to after being incredibly sick for more than 24 hours. I was extremely skeptical due to us already going to an emergency clinic in Salem and being treated terribly and this clinics mixed online reviews. Within 20 minutes of our pup getting inside the vet came outside to talk and recommended what needed to be done. Luckily our pup was with her regular vet all day and they had sent her records over before us arriving and that really set us all up for success. The vet whom I spoke with was absolutely incredible and professional! The only negative side was having to pay everything upfront, but after thinking it over it makes sense from a business standpoint and luckily we were prepared for an emergency situation. Our pup did stay the night and the vet called us with an update. The next morning we got the call that she passed her blockage naturally and we would be able to bring her home! We ended up getting a refund when picking her up. She’s home now and doing really well! I am very thankful for this clinic and if our pup has any sort of emergency situation again (knock on wood) they will be the first clinic I call.
The receptionist (Riley) was extremely calm while we were freaking out on the phone rushing our boy to the vet. We probably called a dozen times to check up and she was comforting and exceptionally nice. The doctors were to the point but kind and helpful. I trust my baby boy there.
I have always had a great experience coming here in the past. I don’t know when they moved, but they did not inform me of this nor the rules/protocols they have in place for covid so when I arrived I was treated like I was an idiot.Very embarrassing.
Rude, untimely, unprofessional. Unfortunately the majority of the visits I had were extremely unpleasant. The vet assistants are very snotty and have terrible attitudes. I get that they are busy with the added chaos of COVID. But that’s not an excuse to speak to others as if they are trash. During one appointment I had a assistant hold my dog from me after I paid due to an issue that they had with my vehicle. My dog was so stressed out when they gave her back after I demanded that they need to give her back to me. They have an attitude of “I can make you wait in the parking lot all day if I want”Not to mention how over priced they are. The medications I was buying there for $60 I am now getting at my new vet for less than $10. I would never recommend this place to anyone unless it’s an absolute emergency. And even then they will get every penny they can out of you, allow your pet to suffer and send them home to die. A family member spent close to $10,000 in care for his 6yr old lab who came to find out had pancreatic cancer. They assured him that she would make it and sent her home after days of care. She ended up having a seizure and dying at home less than 12 hours later
This Hospital and staff were amazing, they were very compassionate and professional. Our baby was really sick and when we couldnt find any other vet available including our own, they took the time and got him in. We drove over an hour to this hospital and would definately do it in the future. We are convinced if they didnt see him we would have lost him. We were extremely shocked at how reasonable the cost was. So much cheaper than we expexted. They went above and beyond not to overcharge and to take such good care of our baby during his 3 day stay at the hospital. The staff were so caring and attentative of our needs and our babies need. I just cant say enough about each and everyone that helped. We are so grateful to each of them and would like to thank them all.
I took my dog to a vet hospital in albany and they refused to see us because we were not current patient. They referred us to Riverside pet hospital. We got there, parked and called. They came out and got our dog and explained how the exam will be performed (COVID). They where very nice and professional. I was shocked because with the emergency exam and 3 different meds it was only 150 bucks. Very reasonable!
GREAT PLACE to take your fur babies! They have been there for 3 of ours, providing the best care, and giving wonderful emotional support to me and my family. I would highly recommend Rivers Edge!!!
We called this evening about our 6mo black lab who had gone pale in the mouth, had passed stool while walking and had shallow breathing. When we called the woman who answered the phone asked me what was going on, and after i told her she asked if she thought we could go to Willamette because they had an emergency c-section come in. After saying that Willamette was about 15-20 minutes away and that we were concerned with our pup, she said that they were no longer taking clients untill the surgery was finished, and she hung up before i could say anything else.Meanwhile, Willamette took us in right away and had our pup in within 2-3 minutes of being there.
Every time we take an animal here (for a scheduled appointment!!) I have to wait in my car 2-4 hours with 2 kids because there are emergencies. which I would be ok with if that wasnt the excuse EVERY time. Absolutely awful way to run a business. I called to see about getting our dog weighed for his flea medicine, they said no longer that 10 minutes. When I verified because every time I go in it takes 2+ hours, she said, oh I dont know why that would be, but it will only be maybe 10 minutes. so I go in and am told, we dont know when we can come out to get him, we are behind, we have emergencies. so I drove half an hour to have my time completely wasted by these people again. they do not take pride in customer service or try to deal with people in a timely manner. I will be finding another vet for my dog because they are awful!
Our little York is ended up with an eye problem from his groomers. Of course on a Friday afternoon I couldnt get into our regular vet Luckily I could get an emergency appointment with Rivers Edge at 6pm. It ended up being a chemical abrasion to his cornea and we had to medicate it every 6 hours and bring him back for recheck every 48 hours for a week. They had fast service, friendly people and what I felt were reasonable pricing for our after hours appointments. I would definitely use them again!
I was told to go here because they could see my kitten quickly. We waited in the car for over an hour before they even came out to start the paperwork. I’m pretty sure they forgot we were there. When I called to find out what was happening they put us on hold and forgot us again. Then more and more waiting. After the vet finally saw our kitten for his eye irritation we waited another hour for them to bring him out. Then they charged us $200 for the pleasure. Never. Again.
We brought our beloved Boston Terrier, Bella, in a couple of weeks before Christmas 2019. She was in rough shape (13yrs old) and started her declined only months before. It was after hours and we called to explain our situation that she wasnt doing well and in pain. They were quick to accommodate me. An exam was preformed and my options were explained. Given her age and her symptoms I knew in my heart it was best to preserve her memory than extend her life. They didnt make me feel guilty about my decision, rather made me feel at ease about it. They explained the process and let me have all the time in the world with her before and after. The cost was extremely reasonable, for this unexpected expense. I was distraught and a week later in the mail I received a personalized card with messages from the staff along with Bellas nose and paw prints. This kind gesture helped me to heal a little more. I have finally healed enough to write this review and to say thank you for your comfort in our familys pain. We couldnt have been treated any better!
Mis diagnoses as usual. Took my puppers in for an infected paw over the weekend since my original vet was closed. His “diagnoses” was that he was fine and he just needs to leave it alone because it’s only inflamed from him irritating it. So i should just use a cone. Took him to my original vet the next day on Monday, they found an infection right away that spread to his hind paws and gave me 3 antibiotics to cure. I was charged $100 at Rivers Edge, waited over 2 hours to be told there was nothing wrong.I was charged $140 at my original vet, meds included. And waited for about an hour maybe less with treatments included.
We have a older Siamese cat who became very ill and needed to be seen with an emergency visit. River’s Edge got us in right away, gave us exceptional care, listened to our concerns and all of the employees were so kind and understanding. We were clearly informed of our pets diagnosis and how to care for him. We are so pleased with the care and staff that were going to switch all of our animal care to this facility. I would highly recommend them on all levels. Because of Covid precautions we had to wait in our vehicle and the staff was thoughtful enough to pass out cold water to all their patients.
I am so thankful for this place. My dog had been neutered by another vet and they would not give him an e collar. Due to covid everything is closed earlier, and his vet still wouldn’t give him one.I called here and was willing to pay the emergency hour so that he could get one so he wouldn’t be in pain anymore. The owner himself came outside and told me no need to pay that just the collar and sent me right on my way. I will definitely be coming back here and I’m glad that there are good vets out there.
Had a kitty that after a long illness was ready to be put down. They got me in the same day. Even during Covid-19 restrictions, they let me be with him during the procedure which meant so much to me. The attending vet was so sweet. Her kind words were appreciated.
Dog sliced her paw pad open at the beach, i was very thankful this clinic was able to see her since it was the ONLY one around that would. that being said though, she received five stitches, the worse stitch job i have ever seen. No bandage, no wrap, the only thing they gave me was a DIY IV bag to put over it. Of course that didnt last, two of her five stitches have popped. Also, i did not receive a call she was done. it took me parking right in front to prompt them to come out and confirm she was ready twenty minutes ago. normally wouldnt be THAT frustrating but the fact that we were on vacation in NEWPORT, and it was after 9pm, we still had a long drive back.**Please note - if you are going to the beach with your furfam, be mindful of the vets in the area as we discovered the hard way it took driving to Albany to get her treated.
I brought our beloved elderly Doxie in to be put to sleep. I was crying and didnt want to be in there when it happened, but read an article that said pets wonder where their owners are when this happens, so I decided to stay. The staff was so great - they gave us time alone and even sent me home with a nice burial bag (strong canvas with a zipper). A few days ago, I received a card from them for which the staff all wrote sweet messages, and included Jessies 4 foot prints which, in my state of sadness, I forgot they even took. Its things like this that help people to heal and I really appreciate how you took your time, explained what was happening and then left the room for awhile. I still look for her and listen for her but I know it just takes time. Thank you agani.
We arrived with our pup during emergency hours and were left in the car in the parking lot for a half hour with no communication. We also watched another pup be very poorly taken care of for a shot. There are better options. I would not recommend them.
The first couple visits went okay. It was difficult because we couldnt go in with our pets and had to wait in the car due to COVID. The last visit was horrible. They left us in the parking lot with our dogs in a hot car for 1.5 hours. They werent communicating with us over the phone and seemed to not even want to bother with us. They also wanted to pull all of our cats perfectly good teeth because he was old. Would not recommend.
This was a walk in the park ! ......Compared to our vet of almost 15 years ...and had no records of us at all, Due to a soft ware glitch.......Informed us that there would be a new client set up charge and they couldnt see us till next week before whe had a chance to tell them what was wrong .....fast forwardAre Dog Graces who has had a history or Hot Spots that we have been abel to stay ahead of for years ..Developed earlier this year......we where up with her all night so we had to get it treated fast ...We called at 9:30 this morning ...after we got off the phone with our x- vet lolAnd from there it was a Great experience all around....Great front office and the staff member that came to our car for forms along with the Dr calling to explain in detail what he was going to do and the Drs assent that came to get Grace was soooo great with her bouth taking her in and helping me load grace back into her travel crate .....So here we all are under covid 19 protocol plus it is pooring down rain and what i witnessed was a Bisness in total complianceThanks River Edge .....hopefully I wont be seeing you soon .....lolBut its great knowing that your there if a problem does arrive....
Thank you for saving my pup Webber and working with me on the bill. Thank you so much hope yall have a great New Years...
I called about my cat which was starting to show signs of a bad urinary tract infection and had thrown up. I called to see if it was something that needed to be addressed immediately or if it would be okay if my cat was scheduled for the next day. I tried to explain the symptoms, but got the same 2 answers multiple times, “We can’t say unless she’s in front of us” and “I can’t say if you should bring her in, that’s up to you.” Not helpful at all and like the other reviews say, they seem to be more about the money than about your pet. Called the Willamette Veterinary Hospital and they were absolutely great, they told me what symptoms to keep an eye out for, but that she was okay for the night. Willamette answered all my questions, gave me recommendations on how to comfort my cat and were generally were just much kinder. I will avoid Rivers Edge at all costs now. From a business owner, I recommend that you guys learn how your answer your phones with some sense of empathy. Especially in an industry that sees a lot of stressed out people that just want the best for their family members (pets), and not to be raked over the coals.
I called this vet because my normal vet was booked and told me it was an emergency vet. When I called them at 4:40 they said we were good to go at 6:30. We got to the clinic at 6:28 and waited for 40 minutes. They have an instruction to call them after 20 minutes for an update which we did. The person who answered asked if it was an emergency (obviously, why else am I here?) And we were put on hold. My husband and I both work nights so we asked if we could leave our cat overnight because we both had to go. The tech said that somebody needed to be present to sign documents if the doctor wanted to do blood work or anything else.Rudimentary was assumed, but apparently needed a signature for anything. Never have I ever had a vet (even during COVID) tell me that I need to be present to sign documents. Usually you call the client and ask for permission and then they sign later. Thanks to this emergency clinic my cat is still quite sick.Unfortunately I could not help my cat out at this vet and he is still sick.
Completely unprofessional. Whoever does the hiring at Rivers Edge Pet Medical Center may want to look into replacing their receptionist immediately. The receptionist who answered the phone today was clearly having a terrible day and took it out on her phone calls. She abruptly answered the phone yell-asking if it was an emergency. After being put on hold (which is fine), she proceeded to be 100% unhelpful and unprofessional and hostile. She gave me one word answers and zero detail to my questions. I informed her of my situation of never having a dog before and how my new puppy is in need of vaccinations — her response “we aren’t doing those right now” — so I said “when will you be doing vaccinations?” — her response “there’s a waitlist” — “okay how long in the waitlist?” — “it’s significant” — “okay well I have never had a dog before and so I’m hoping you can help me (haha) how serious is it that he get his vaccinations soon if there’s a significant waitlist?” — her response, “serious”. Wow I’ve never dealt with a more unprofessional, rude individual in my life. I immediately said “I’ll call another clinic, thanks”
On March 3rd we were referred to Rivers Edge by our Vet’s office Lebanon Animal Hospital. Our 13 year old Springer was in incredible pain. The kindness they showed our pet and us was amazing. David Gray DVM was very informative on our options and very patient with my forth coming decision. I absolutely did not want to say goodbye to my pet in an office but the care I felt there made me totally comfortable and able to let my sweet Bonnie go. Wonderful staff!🐶. Tess Bartlett
I took my two dogs in pretty late at night after they got into a fight. Due to COVID-19, things were done a little different than normal & despite being the only 24 hour emergency vet around that was open, they were quick and prompt on getting my pups some medical attention. Dr. Gray was very informative, was very personable, and you could tell he loves what he does. One pup needed stitches, and they even clipped his nails while he was out. They will definitely be first on my list for my regular veterinarian. Thank you to all staff, my Titus and Samson are thankful as well!
Always very accommodating & sensitive to the animals needs (and my needs and concerns). I had an emergency with my cat and Dr. Gray was kind, and incredibly informative; explained what was possibly occurring with my cat. The young woman who was working that evening was super awesome and gave me a lot of her time.
Our dog had an appointment at 2:00 7/31 after waiting for an hour in 90 degree weather in the car and several phones calls to the front desk we finally were seen. Quick appointment turned it into the rest of the day off work for a B12 shot.Completely understand when emergencies come in but a simple courteous call to say please come back would have been nice. Hopefully we will find a decent vet for our EPI dog since we just moved to Albany until then definitely driving to Salem for all vet appts.
TERRIBLE. The tech told me to drop the cat in while she was holding the crate outside the window. I did that and he had his hind legs on the edge. Instead of just closing the crate door, she tilted it to the side to attempt to close it, allowing him to jump out into the parking lot and bolt. Now my cat is missing, and they showed no compassion. There was no apology from the tech, minimal help received with searching, and they tried to say it was a both party accident. Absolutely ridiculous. You would think people who choose to take care of pets would understand how heartbreaking this is and put some more effort into helping and showing empathy. I am in disbelief over what occurred. Thanks to them I have a cat running around a nearby golf course with an untreated medical issue in the middle of the night.
Thanks to the staff of Rivers Edge Pet Medical Center, they saved our dog, Bugsys, life. Not an exaggeration. Only because of them, our dog is alive and healthy.
I came in a few months ago for an emergency visit for my cat and the wait was quoted for over an hour due to other pet emergencies (wouldve happily waited) but they got my cat in right away! He gave me very honest opinions, was very good with my animal, affordable and found out him and his wife own the place together. 10/10 reccomend supporting this kind, family owned vet practice.
My fiancée and I are new pet owners and were concerned about a health issue regarding our pup. Dr. Hayes took the time to explain to us how she was fine, and they were able to have our puppy in and out in no time. The man who brought our puppy inside was also kind to her even though she is a difficult little dog and tried to bite him! They did a tremendous job maintain social distancing and would highly recommend their services.
The staff was amazing and understanding. We had to put our kitten down, and they where very patient with myself and my kids as we said our good buys.
Took dog to vet at 5:30 AM as she was sick all night. We felt that Rivers Edge pushed unnecessary testing. Once testing was completed, we had no new information from what our regular vet had told us about her health. After two hours of being made to wait in our car, we paid $607 to River Edge only to have to turn around and pay our regular vet to put the dog down 10 hours later. It seems like they were only out to make money! Our regular vet does not take lightly the idea of putting animals down so when he told us it was time, we knew we were taken advantage of by Rivers Edge. The dogs condition was no different at 5:30 AM to when we had to put her down. Rivers Edge knew she was not able to stand or walk. She was breathing heavily and they put her in an oxygen tent, but yet they continued to push and perform multiple, costly tests for no reason, other than to make money. We would never return to this clinic or ever refer anyone to this clinic. If we could give 0 stars, we would.
This place is just in it for the money. They charged me 1000$ for X-rays and some pills. It was a emergency appointment but still. And they had me waiting out in 90 degree weather for an hour when we got there as my dog was throwing up in my car. I called a few times and all they said was we will be out in a few. Then they said we were supposed to get results back from the lab and it took them 2 and a half days to tell me but I had to keep calling them and bugging them. And to top it off, they said we needed a dewormer after the results were in and they were going to charge me 275$ dollars for this dewormer. I called my actual vet and they sold it to me for 36$ dollars. They are money hungry and it’s completely disgusting.
Our dog had an appointment on 7/20 at 3:30 pm. We decided to leave after being made to wait with our sick dog (she was showing signs of anaphylaxis.. a pretty pressing matter) FOR 45 MINUTES in 90°+ weather, without being told we were TRIPLE BOOKED. Would NOT ever trust these people again. They obviously couldnt care less about the health of your pet!
Had to take my 10 week old puppy in at midnight. They were great helped my little man and sent us home. Both ladies we saw were very polite and patient even though it was so late!! Thank you guys!!
Frustrating. We have been here for a long time with our pets emergencies and regular exams. I am constantly updating our chart. They know one of our dogs can’t get seen by males but always try to force it. They have failed to mention about a boosters or other shots that was suppose to be done 3-4 weeks and we had to restart the vaccines all over again. We weren’t reminded, they spoke to us like we are suppose to know everything about the shots. Sometimes very rude. I tried with this vet a lot and I am over it. Unless it’s an emergency I highly suggest you see your primary vet that will take the time to get to know your animals or at least take the time to look at their charts.
They quote one price on the phone and a much higher price in person. They only care about making money. Dr Hayes is really good, so if you choose to go here you should pick her. She knows what shes talking about and will not order un necessary tests that are expensive. The techs are not that friendly. An exam and lab work was almost $250.00 I was quoted $163.00 on the phone and when I talked to the Office Manager about my concerns, all she cared about was getting my CC and charging it. If there are other places to go and Dr Hayes is not available, please choose somewhere else. I never met the vet today but she lacked empathy on the phone. I was told by techs that work here, that it is more important what the vets want to order than what customers want or can afford to pay. I dont have pet Insurance and just 2 visits here were over $ 600.00. 2 exams 3 labs and 1 XRAY.
YOU GUYS ARE HORRIBLE. You might as well shoot your pet now if you are considering going to this place. They dont care. Dont call you when your dog is ready to come home so they can charge you an overnight fee. Overly expensive to tell you NOTHING.
We took our GSD Duke to river’s edge in March when he suddenly became gravely sick. Rivers edge was able to give us two more months with our guy after a very poor prognosis with an aggressive cancer. We can never thank them enough for the extra time they were able to make for us. Thank you!
Prompt, polite, & helpful.
I had just moved here from Nevada and had made an appt with Rivers edge veterinary clinic hospital, she had been sick with vomiting and diarrhea for 3 weeks and while I was in the exam room I noticed she had a ear infection, Dr Forbes proceeded to tell me to get a rinse from the pet store as I requested medication for her ear, which I never received the assistant said to bring her back in 2 weeks if her ear didn’t clear up . I had also bought a stool sample in to be tested and the clinic wanted to take 2 xrays a complete blood panel and a test for her pancreas and charge me over 500.00 dollars which I would have no problem paying but the doctor didn’t seem to care for her furry friends. So in a nutshell they really didn’t care about our pets. They didn’t seem to really care about the care that they were giving our lab. Also we told her that she had an ear infection and she didn’t even clean out her ear.So on a scale from 1 to 5 they got her one. If you want good veterinary care I would not recommend this clinic.
The staff members here were kind, compassionate, patient, frank and informative. Their professionalism helped walk us through a difficult choice. The overnight emergency service here was exceptional, as much about taking care of the people as well as the pet.
So grateful to have Rivers Edge in our community. My dog, Lucy was hit by a car late one night. I knew right away she wasnt going to make it. We brought her to the clinic where the staff was waiting for us. They gave her some pain medication, making a noticeable difference in her comfort. I was able to spend time with her in a comfortable setting which meant the world to me. If it wasnt for Rivers Edge it would have been a long painful night for the both of us. The staff there helped make a terrible situation better and gave me something positive to look back on. I cant thank them enough.
Amazing you gotta love this place, staff is great!!! They actually care so much they really care about your pet
BIG! Shout out to rivers edge. My dog was in pain and my local vet was booked. I called Rivers Edge and even tho they said they were double booked, they still got me in and sat me in a room within 6mins. Staff were very nice, caring and amazing. They even got my dog to wag his tail. Answered all my questions and I was out and on my way back home in about 45m-1hr. Feeling relieved that now I know what was wrong with my dog.I would recommend rivers edges to anyone who wants to feel welcomed👍
We brought my cat in because she had a UTI. They checked her out and gave her medicine. A week later, she hadn’t improved. They called to check in and gave us different medicine. After two days on this new medicine, my cat suddenly passed very unexpectedly. They never called again to check in, which didn’t soften the blow of losing a beloved pet. They don’t know she died. I wonder if her condition was a lot worse than they estimated or if she was misdiagnosed or something. I’m disappointed they didn’t call again and check in on her and ask to see her again.I think if your pet is perfectly healthy, this place is fine. But both myself and my friend have had separate, mixed experiences with our own cats here. I won’t be bringing my other cat here and will find another vet in the area to go to.
My 13 y/o lab Tank, was in despair. Being a Sunday not many places are open. I love him to much to have him suffer anymore. Im grateful Rivers Edge was open and was able to help. The loss of my best friend was devastating to me and the girls that work there were very compassionate to me and they were so kind hearted to Tank during the procedure. As Tank was by my side for many years, I knew I needed to be by his side at this point of his life. Even tho it tore my heart apart, I was able to be with him as he peacefully took his last breathe. Thank you Rivers Edge Pet Medical Center. RIP bubba.
Had to have my pet put to sleep. Was told I would have a possible 2 hour wait in Springfields Animal hospital. Called Rivers Edge, and was asked to come right in. A very compassionate staff took care of him as soon as I walked in. Highly recommend.
Waited an hour for them to even come get our poor cat who was anxious in the car, waste of time
I am so grateful to the staff at Rivers Edge! My pomeranians first whelping. A large Singleton pup that was stuck breech in the birth canal With claws and feet out.! I figured it was dead But the Dr. Worked so carefully for 15 minutes to pull the pup out! It was breathing!! Thank you so so very much for saving the lives of my Mom and son! We are so lucky in Albany to have a 24 hr ER !
Sterday, Jan 6 my vet in Independence referred me to Rivers Edge as it was after hours.I was deeply concerned about our 9 year old Havanese. She was displaying symptoms I’d never encountered before.I was apprehensive of going somewhere other than our vet of 30 years. I was incredibly pleased how thoughtful and kind the receptionist was over the phone which totally eased my worried mind!Next, the assistant Hannah was just as kind and did a very thorough intake. I was even impressed when she left to get a small mat on the counter to keep animals from slipping! And then there was Dr. Gordon! She instantly figured out the problem using the most gentle and tender approach in which she also had me feel the area where my dogs muscles were swollen, the result of her knee caps had popping out causing her severe pain.I teamed up realizing my little pup was going to be just fine. And with that I received a very warm hug from Dr. Gordon! She took excellent care of Molly...AND me!And last the assistant Hannah, had all the meds in individual applications for the next week, even breaking up the tablets in fourths for the dosage.I assumed the final bill would be high (which cost was no object) but was blown away by the fact that it was incredibly reasonable and it was after hours emergency care! Our own Vet is only a few miles away and we love them but if I was new to the area and looking for an excellent vet with outstanding attention I would feel blessed to have found Rivers Edge!!
The only good thing about this place, is that it is open for 24 hours, and a perfect first aid spot for dog fights. Otherwise, terrible.I have an Australian Cattle Dog, who what I believed had an ear infection. My dog needs at least five minutes to get used to someone, and to know it is okay. Our normal vet was closed, so we decided to go here....Well, they rushed my dog making her extremely uncomfortable and sicker…Muzzling her, and not allowing us to see how they do their procures is not acceptable. My dog would have been calm if I was in the room with her. Now, you guys did help my jack Russell at 4 in the morning after a dog fight, but for an emergency vet it was quite pricy and the appointment lasted more than 3 hours for stitches. The front office lady, was extremely nice, and friendly...Compared to the aggressive feel of the rest of the office.
Jordan and Dr. Rob Siefken, DVM are beyond amazing. My pet presented with vomit and blood several time. I was losing my mind driving from Lebanon to North Albany. I called ahead and they were prepared for my pet that is of the brachycephalic breeds. They knew right away what the problem was and started treatment immediately. Recommended home care which kept costs of an Emergency Veterinarian Center beyond reasonable. Although, I have to admit, I did not care, I wanted my baby to feel better. Its not Would you like an estimate?...UM NO I WANT MY BABY FIXED NOW!!! I carry pet insurance and they approved the bill ASAP and reimbursement was quick, due in part to the thorough chart notes and detailed invoice.
We took our old, very sick and unhealthy dog to to Rivers Edge for emergency surgery. They quickly and accurately accessed her condition, informed us of complexity and low chances of survival and appropriately and accurately explained the cost. Our dog survived the surgery but failed to thrive during the week after the surgery. Due to no fault of Rivers Edge our dog died one week later. Throughout the ordeal the Rivers Edge vets, techs and other staff were very helpful, considerate, thoughtful and professional. We felt that the vets and ourselves did everything possible to provide care for the dog and did all we could do for our dogs well being. With confidence I would use Rivers Edge Pet Medical Center again if needed for our other pets. After reading reviews of this and other emergency vet care facilities I was amazed to find that some people believe that a emergency treatment hospital, with its hundreds of thousands of dollars of equipment and supplies would be cheap or that they should provide treatment with no assurance of payment. They would/could not exist and provide 24/7 emergency care if they could not be assured that they were getting paid so they could continue to be prepared for emergency treatment. If you are not prepared for this you probably should re-consider having pets.
I am more than thrilled with this last visit to riversedge! My dog kodiak had severe bloat and would have died from it had we not known about riversedge and how they are open 24/7. We rushed him in at 2 in the morning and they figured out the issue within half an hour. The procedure he had to have along with the hospitalization took about everything we had to afford it and they met us halfway with the ability to pay the rest in payments seeing as we couldnt afford to pay for the rest of the bill at that time. In the morning they called us and told us that he had bloated up again and his stomach twisted meaning he needed surgery. I drove up there and by the time I got there he was already in surgery (within a half an hour). They even called in their top surgeon on his day off for kodiaks surgery, thankfully the surgery went perfectly as well as his recovery. Now we get to enjoy the precious years we have left with him gifted to us by the countless years of medical expertise provided by his team of verenarians.
Unfortunately I had to take my puppy in last night. The Vet (Dr. Grey)is a worthless, jerk. Basically we had to call poison control ourselves, which cost us an extra 70 bucks on top of the $190 we had to have up front before they would even help our dog. I mean you are the Doctor, shouldnt you know if it is poisonous or not. The Vet tech was awful, and I had to finally tell her she was rude. The only positive was the vet tech named Bridget(I think, she had piercings), very sweet and helpful. If you can avoid taking your animal here do! Drive them to Corvallis, I wish I would have. P.s puppy is just fine!
I havent had many dealings with Rivers Edge, as I live in Lebanon. But I did have to take my moms dog in, after she was assaulted by a guy in the park we were walking dogs in, and Rivers Edge saw her right away, meeting us at the door. Come to find out, the dog was having a panic attack. Total cost for that visit: 38.00!A few months later, we took our sons kitten in, because he was crying in pain, which was very out of character for him, its his sister thats the cry baby and will cry at you for everything, from picking her up, to not giving her food fast enough. But Shadow is a pretty chill cat, so crying in pain like that really had us concerned. We had no idea what the problem was, not even a possible problem, so they had to do a full exam and really look for the cause. 400.00 later, we discover the cat was constipated, probably due to him having eaten something that was not good for him.I personally am grateful for such a wonderful and caring staff being on hand when our fur babies need them most!
I was dog sitting a small dog and she got Into quite a bit of chocolate. I rushed her here and they immediately took her back and examined her. She tends to over lick people and all the staff were so kind and talk you through everything before doing anything.
Our lovable Puppy ingested a mushroom, on Easter Sunday, we rushed her to our local vet, who said she needed IVs and constant supervision. He recommended Rivers Edge in North Albany, and called ahead for us. They were waiting for us and went right to work on our precious little 5 lb girl. Could not have been better care, wish we had that kind of care in our emergency room. We cant thank Dr. Gray and staff enough for all they did for Lily. And how up front and kind they were to us. I will refer all my friends. Great Place. Super Great Doctor.
We took our guinea pig to be checked out by Dr. Gordon. She was amazing. We will definitely be going to her for future visits.
This place will charge you for simply breathing their air. I had to schedule a follow up appointment with the vet I had initially seen, or I would be charged another well pet check up charge. Since this follow up had to do with my dogs pregnancy, there was a limited time frame for the appointment. The next date the doctor could see me within the time frame was on the following Saturday at 5:30 pm, when she was on the evening emergency shift. There was no emergency on our part, this was just when the appointment was scheduled by the front desk. Upon arrival, I was told Id be billed extra for the routine procedure and the visit, because of the after hours time frame. Hospital policy I was told. I certainly wasnt informed of this policy when the appointment was made for me.
You get the best of everything here. I wish Dr Grey was a medical Dr..he would be famous, or at least a millionaire. He is always right on the money with diagnosis and prognosis. He has a great manner with the animals, you can tell he truly cares. Not only does he provide the best care that my animals have ever had but he tries to save you money, he is not in it for the bucks. When one of my cats got hit by a car firstly he was OPEN and AVAILABLE, secondly he did not charge me an arm and a leg and was completely 100% right with his diagnosis and prognosis. This has consistently been the case over the years and I am very thankful that he and his staff are there.8/25/2014Things have changed here..unfortunately for the worse. Was charged $163 to groom a cat who came home without being bathed and with a previously non-existent flea problem. It also did not appear that her claws had been clipped. When i called to appraise staff of situation I was met with an attitude of apathy..and no resolution...sad.
