Excellent for antiques. Tammy at the front desk is super helpful for international buyers.Thank you
Registered and bid online through their website for an Annex Auction, and it was a very easy process. Went about a week later to pick up the item I won, and the staff was very kind and helpful. I left really happy with the item I won and was glad I had such a good pay and pick-up experience.
Just Plain and rude customer service. I called to make a payment and was talked to like no other place has done before. What part of customer service don’t you understand? We are all Humans, We the customers are buyers, sellers and payers but most importantly we are Humans.
Appalling!!!I was hospitalized with Covid 19 and this auction house filed a dispute on my Live Auctioneers acct. When I was released from the hospital, I contacted them and tried to pay for the items, My invoice was less than 30 days past due. They said I could no longer buy the items and they would not take the dispute off my account. What in the world is wrong with these people???? Their other bad reviews speak volumes. Clars auction house would never do such a thing!!!
Brought them some high quality gem jewelry for selling, The price I told them is the lowest price I can accept, but they sold them in just half price which is incredible low price on April 11th. A 10ct aquamarine with 14K white gold pendant is sold for $275, blue sapphire 18k yellow gold ring with diamonds $300, Pink sapphire 18K yellow gold ring sold for $500, each item with GIA certificate, these money can even buy the gemstone!I try to contact them, they don’t wanna answer, anyone who bought my item, just let me know.
Attended my first auction this past weekend. Very friendly and helpful staff, auctioneers make the auction fun and exciting. Love my purchase and will definitely be back!
Have to be careful how you bid. The business tacks on a hefty tax. Great variety and quality!!!
My friend and I LOVE THIS PLACE! Everyone is so nice - from Scott and the other auctioneer to Tammy! We get great prices and, therefore, return regularly. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
A great community resource with great people, knowledgeable and helpful
Michaans sale in October 2018 was my first auction eand a real learning experience. We offered ancient Asian items I inherited 35 years earlier that had come into my family over 70 years ago. The only thing that seemed strange was that one item sold for 50 times the Michaan estimate. Of course I was delighted. Because of that I now realize that selling at auction can be like gambling. If you are lucky enough for your sale to have more than one buyer who knows the value of an item you may come out a winner, but clearly both seller and buyer should go into an auction with some knowledge of the market. Live and learn!
Decent inventory. Yet, every single item (40-50 of them, across 5-7 auctions over several years) that I won when leaving absentee bids, I got at my maximum bids. While theoretically it can happen, but not in 100% of cases. For comparison, at auctions where there is integrity to their processes (e.g. Clars), I would get 50-60% of items below my maximum bids. My 5 cents.
Overall great experience. Friendly staff and management.
Purchased framed art from Michaans Auctions in December 2017. Great communication. Item arrived in excellent condition (advertised as good condition). Will buy again!!!
I was looking for a venue to host a White Coat Ceremony for our cohort and happened upon Michaans Theater which looked like a perfect fit for our event. After outlining our specifications for the event, Audrey refused to respond to further inquiry. Initial inquiry by our cohort was sent on April 6th, she asked a few questions through email on April 10th, to which I responded a few hours later. She chose never to respond to this last reply (it has been 6 weeks). A little courtesy goes a long way. Even if they were uninterested in hosting the event, a response would have been appreciated indicating as such. If you are planning a special event, I would consider looking elsewhere.
They just cheat the price they sold
Easy to find but weird route, guess havent been to Alameda in a while.
Highest ratings for Michaan’s Auction House. Closing down Playland-Not-at-the-Beach after nearly 10 years creating it and then 10 years enjoying running the museum of fun / family fun center was a traumatic experience. The people from Michaan’s (especially Danny Elizalde and Scott Baldwin) handled all aspects of the auction in a way that was always professional and understanding of the painful process of letting go of all of Playland’s assets and nearly 20 years of our lives. They outlined in our initial meeting what Michaan’s would do and then followed through as promised—and they promised a lot. From itemizing sale items, creating the auction catalogue, and marketing the event everything went smoothly until public response indicated that the planned on-site auction would be overwhelmed by the number of buyers and the auction location needed to be changed at almost the last minute. The large auction public with its active bidding stretched out the planned 5-hour event to an over 8-1/2 hour marathon. But the auctioneers never tired and it was a success for all. The following week the removal of purchased items also went smoothly, and again Michaan’s did it all. They were a pleasure to work with. Thank you to Michaan’s Auction House.
They have a ton to offer and good potential. Perhaps a better understanding of how to run a business (mostly in regards to HR and marketing) and theyd be golden.
I cant really trust them. its ok if you like to get stuff no body wants or may be cheaper than a garage sale . please pay attention when bidding on rare valuable items because once you to the cashier they would tell you its belong to somebody else, that or you will end up paying lots of money to find out that is cheaper on Craigslist or your local thrift store.
Cheater! do not sell any stuff here.
I pay the item but i never received it. They only say this is the shipping.I m in France and its difficult to do something. If you bay something pay with pPay pall and you will have insurance
Waste of time. Dont bother with their online auction. They even have instructions on their website on how to register with liveauctioneers. Then once you register for their auction on liveauctioneers theyll decline your request. After calling in, theyll tell you that youve been declined for not participating in enough liveauctioneers auctions. Apparently theyll only make an exception if you send them front and back photos of your credit card. Im pretty sure the card processors would shut them down for this - totally not PCI compliant. 1985 called, they want their business process back.
THE WORST!!!! I would rather take a hammer to my head then deal with these bumbling idiots. I have been buying from them for years and every time it is an abysmal experience. Tammy Tobin should be working at the DMV where her rudeness would be fitting. I will never spend another dime with this auction house, ever!!!
The thrill of the Auction
They are cheater, Chinese buyers and sellers have noticed that they have price fraud, I have sold a few things here, they will find a price increase, and the prices of the things they sell are opaque, which means you don’t know that he and you Said the transaction price is true or false, to provide proof, all rejected
