Going thru hard times they helped me and have other resources that are available. Theres just a process to get everything. They will help. Doctors staff nurses. I left some of my things there, some hygiene, for four months and they still had my things waiting for me to pick up. They do there jobs. Some things like med are small process at times. Staff will talk to make sure your good or just for the conversation. Ive been there more than once and its the process. Dont be expecting steak and lobster and youll be the food not bad. So, appreciate all of you giving support when we need it.
If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, please do not contact this line. They are horribly rude, condescending, and lack empathy. There are people who care about you and what you’re going through. I encourage contacting the suicide lifeline.
If I could give this place less than 1 star I would, I was unwillingly admitted here in the 24 hour emergency facility and they made me stay for about 3 days, they do not let you shower, there are only 3 rooms with cots that are CHAINED to the ground, and then a waiting room type area where others were forced to sleep. The Psychiatrists here are not helpful and will judge you for your situation. More than one pair of clothes were not allowed, and seeing as how there is no shower, you can see how wrong that is. They do not make dietary accommodations either, I was forced to starve because I do not eat meat and they refused to give me anything but stale bread with peanut butter & jelly. I would avoid this place at all costs, I still have nightmares about my experience.
This place helped me the last couple of times I have been there. When Im in a tough place they help me find the best place to get help when suicidal. People should give this place more credit than what they do. The only down side its too close encounter for me being near male patients
I went to Summa voluntarily as I was suicidal, and had attempted to kill myself. Summa told me I would be transported to St. Thomas. Well, instead they transported me to Portage Path emergency which is probably the worst place. I got in about 2:00 a.m. with nowhere to sleep but a chair in a waiting room type setting. The next day I was moved to a couch in the waiting room setting with at least 6 other people in the room with me who were patients at all times. Other patients were very loud (screaming) and one was extremely violent to the point where I didn’t feel safe around him. Nothing was really done about the problematic people. I was here for 2 days and was told that I couldn’t take a shower because they didn’t have one. The whole 48 hours that I was there I did not once see someone clean. All the employees did was stand around and gossip and laugh. I HATED going to the bathroom because it was so disgusting and the whole place you could tell hadn’t been cleaned in a while. All you were allowed to do was watch tv and eat. That’s even worse on someone not even allowing anything so basically the only thing to do there to pass the time was sleep. A LOT of people including myself just slept the day away, that isn’t healthy at all. Being in unsanitary conditions isn’t healthy either. I couldn’t get out of there fast enough I immediately took a shower when I got home.
Anywhere But Here - Mayday Parade (King Size It) The best thing about this place is its the only emergency facility that lets you smoke throughout the day if you have them but if not and youre stuck up front you cant even shower... They have showers plus washers and dryers in the back oh, the place could be so much cleaner but the staff just doesnt care and it seems like they need medication just as much as thepatients do, and trust me, you are going to need patience if youre dealing with this place at all. The wait time for a doctor is ridiculous and the food that they serve is barely edible, but at least it is edible unlike jails from what Ive heard, so theres that.If you get anything from this review try your hardest not to go here unless you are forced AKA pink-slipped or you are homeless. I would much rather recommend Akron General or a Cleveland clinic over anything summa offers and try IBH or any other rehabilitation clinic before this one.
Theyll cancel your appointment so you wont have to. If you hate your meds, this place is perfect for you because you wont have them for months. Hopefully you arent in a hurry for an appointment, you certainly wont be getting one any time soon. Good luck getting through to an actual person on their phone system, also good luck getting your voicemail returned.People with serious mental health problems who depend on medication need to look elsewhere for help before resorting to Portage Path, its not safe to be dependent upon a place like this. Very unprofessional. If you are in a crisis, please consider all other options before turning to this place. You have about a 15% chance of getting the help that you need when you need it. I pray that it doesnt take for someone to take their own life for places like this to do better.
I moved to the area from out of state and wished to continue my previously prescribed medication so I called and made an appointment with this place. I was required to have an evaluation which I expected being a new patient. I had that evaluation on the 3rd of January and was told I would not be able to see a psychiatrist until March 29. I got a notice yesterday that my appointment has been canceled and that I would have to reschedule do to the high volume of requests for medication.First of all I would like to say that two of my medications cannot just be stopped I have to be weened from them. Since they had no specific dates about how long my meds would actually last me I think its pretty presumptuous for them to assume I have enough medication to last me long enough to make another later appointment. Secondly, I would like to know why with the high volume of patients in need of medication why I am not a priority enough to have my already scheduled appointment kept.
The people that work here are evil to a disturbing degree.
Horrible. i went voluntarily, was strapped down and taken from my fiancee without getting to say goodbye, by two large angery looking orderlies. ended up here, got placed in a room with a body builder type who kept punching walls while screaming that he was right with jesus, obviously coked or something out of his gourd. got to see a doctor several hours later who spoke little to no english, was told I was fine, and that my anxiety and depression was basically a joke. I was trearted like dirt. several days later my legs started itching very badly and broke out with sores. I went to the doctor, I had contracted bacterial folliclitis, from the disgusting couch I was made to lay on.good times.
Kept prescribing anti depressants for my wife. Kept uping the dosage with no change in her condition. Not a good facility.
They hung up on me when I needed some to talk to, and told me not to call again. Unprofessional and uncaring
Lousy food. Terrible service!
